Nope…no bias at ABC News!
Brit Hume on Fox News Channel pointed out this interesting announcement on the ABC News website, the day before Bush’s inauguration:
For a possible Inauguration Day story on ABC News, we are trying to find out if there any military funerals for Iraq war casualties scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20. If you know of a funeral and whether the family might be willing to talk to ABC News, please fill out the form below.
Hume gave a hat tip to the blogger who brought national attention to it. ABC was beseiged with angry phone calls and e-mails, so they pulled it from their site. As of right now, no explanation (or proof of its prior existence) is even acknowledged on the site.
Hume continued:
Last night’s “Nightline” dealt with what the show called, “critics” who believe that voting irregularities in Ohio on Election Day cost John Kerry (search) the presidency.
Stories about Iraqi deaths and false illegitimacy claims…hmmm. Go ahead, libs…try to explain away this clear-cut case of media bias and left-wing agenda!

As a liberal, I agree this is clear cut bias on the part of Fox News. Of course they don’t want any bad news out of Iraq on Inaguration Day. Can you imagine how upset the poor Republicans would be if anyone showed what was happening in Iraq?
And why you’re the biggest victim of all, aren’t you? Keep on whining, maybe you’ll get your way and they’ll finally purge liberals, just like China did during their Cultural Revolution.
And nice booing of Kerry. You whine and moan about us being sore losers. What do you call a winner who boos the loser?
Whiner.

Stories about Iraqi deaths…
Just stories…

Thomas,
Thank you for taking the time to post on my blog. All viewpoints, even contrarian ones, are welcome.
First of all, I did not boo Kerry. I was not there. If by “you”, you mean “Republicans”, then you will be disappointed to know that I am no Republican. I am a Libertarian. Libertarians see liberals pretty much the same way Republicans do: emotional, feeling-without-thinking, myopic people.
Also, judging by liberals’ sorry track record with issues related to the military and defense, you’re going to be hard-pressed to convince me that you actually give a damn about military deaths in Iraq. You want to see reports of deaths to score political points against a president you detest. Fine…I just wish liberals would spare me the drivel that they care about the troops.
Bias on Fox News for reporting ABC’s bias? So you’re maintaining that ABC’s open solicitation of a “news” piece to coincide with the inauguration is nothing more than “objective” journalism? If that’s your contention, I shan’t try to convince you otherwise…you’re beyond help.
Also, Brit Hume not only reports the news, his show is an opinion-based show. Opinion-based means that bias is expected, even required! Hannity and Colmes is an opinion-based show…Hannity biased towards the right, Colmes biased towards the left. I understand your discomfort with Fox News, though…it has destroyed the stranglehold that the MSM (mainstream media) had for decades. That’s why Fox’s ratings continue to climb, and CBS/NBC/ABC/CNN/et al continue to fall.
Finally, you pretty much render yourself irrelevant in the arena of ideas and debate of ideas when you presume that I would rather liberals be “purged.” My blog is entitled “Crush Liberalism”, not “Crush Liberals“! I want liberalism completely neutralized as a political threat in this country, and judging by recent elections losses (and politicians who run like scared dogs from the “liberal” label), it looks like my goal is well on its way. I do not, however, wish harm or death on liberals, and it is emotionally immature and logically weak for you to try to portray that I do. An unwritten rule of logical discourse is that when someone invokes comparisons to Hitler or some other person/event related to mass-murder, the invoker has lost the argument.
Besides, with all three branches of government firmly out of reach of liberals, the 2004 election results going pretty much 100% against liberals, and the mainstream media getting closer scrutiny and reacting to it (said scrutiny caused me to post and you to respond)…why would I be the one whining?
Thanks again, Thomas. Next time you want to try to have a logical, intelligent debate, try leaving assumptions of death out of it. I do detest having a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
