Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Tony Blair won…right?

Some headlines of MSM and UK papers:

“No landslide”, “Support of war cost him”, “Brits show anti-war sentiment”

I admit that I don’t know British slang or vernacular, but do these terms mean “Tony Blair wins unprecedented third election”? I mean, I am admittedly limited to my American English (and a small amount of French, which would come in handy in the event that I ever meet a German to whom I wish to surrender). But by those headlines, it sounds like Tony Blair was defeated in the UK elections.

So for those of you out there who get their news from CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, NPR, CNN, MTV, or any of the major daily newspapers, please do not be shocked when I let you in on this little secret:

Tony Blair was re-elected!

  1. the MSM needs to take a closer look at the Election in the UK. The press says, “No Landslide”. well nothing is a landslide as compaired to the electon 5 years ago when Blair’s Labour party won, by the larget landslide in British Election history. The Election was the equivalent of Reagan’s 84 victory,(49 states) and then looking at H.W. Bush’s not so impressive victory (45 states) and saying that is not a landslide.

Look the Labour party does not have to form a coalition government, and in a parlementary type of government that is huge. His party still has a good size majority and still overwellmingly controlls the agenda in the U.K.

Lastly, you need to look at the party that came in second in the election, the Torries or the Conservative Party. Yes, the Party of Maggie Thatcher, John Major and Winston Churchill. A group of people who are even more strongly tied to the U.S. than Blair. The Social Democrats the 3rd largest party, the true anti war party, that is just about as leftist as Mao and Lennin lost seats.
