Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Whither thou, Abu Ghraibers and Club Gitmo agitators?

From the UK:

* We were blindfolded and subjected to interrogation
* We were told we faced seven years in prison if we did not ‘confess’
* Iranians entered Iraqi waters deliberately to detain us. Fighting back was not an option
* We were 1.7 nautical miles away from Iranian waters
* We were under psychological pressure and mind games
* Faye Turney was isolated in a cell away from the rest of the crew
* Iranian state TV says crew’s comments were ‘dictated’ by British Ministry of Defence

The British sailors released by Iran have today told how they were kidnapped and blindfolded and subjected to ‘constant psychological pressure’.

The sailors and marines said they were bound, blindfolded and lined up against a wall while weapons were cocked, making them “fear the worst”.

OK, who wants to join me in holding our breaths waiting for the Abu Ghraib and Gitmo bellyachers to forcefully denounce Iran for using these tactics that brought about their wails of condemnation against America? Any takers?

ABC News and "slanderous"

From NRO:

Here’s how ABC News titles the story on their homepage regarding the recess appointment of Sam Fox as ambassador to Belgium (emphasis mine):
Major Donor to ‘Swift Boat’ Smear Ads Is Made an Ambassador

Then in the body of the article…

Kerry and Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., led Senate Democrats’ opposition to Fox, who in 2004 contributed $50,000 to the slanderous Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which used a series of television ads to undermine Kerry’s combat record.

And in the spirit of Passover…

Despite his grilling by Democrats, Fox, the national chairman of the Jewish Republican Coalition, refused to apologize for his donation.

As Patterico points out:

Meanwhile, I have yet to see anyone meet Beldar’s challenge to name a single specific and material statement of fact by the Swift Boaters that has been fully debunked, or shown to be fully unsubstantiated.

Wouldn’t stating material falsehoods be a critical component of a “slanderous” campaign of “smear ads”?

In fact, as I have previously observed, the media often has a worse track record of inaccuracies on this issue than do the Swifties.

By the way, if you are disqualified from government service because you once gave money to an organization that has engaged in slander and smears, that lets out anyone who ever subscribed to the Los Angeles Times.

Patterico also points out that the original headline, containing the word “Smear” has since been removed (presumably after a public outcry), though the “slanderous” still remains in the “news” story.

Nope…no liberal media bias!

CBS News guy: Shows bias, denies bias, then admits bias

This must be part of that nuance thingy the left likes to try and employ. From “See? B.S.”:

It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time for the Public Eye Chat. This week’s subject is Rome-based CBS News Correspondent Allen Pizzey. You can read excerpts, and listen to the full interview, below.

Brian Montopoli: It seems that some reporters, including yourself and CNN’s Michael Ware, have really taken umbrage at John McCain’s recent comments, essentially saying that there are a lot of neighborhoods where you can walk around relatively safely. Is it fair to say that that really sort of bothered reporters?

Allen Pizzey: Yes. It’s disgraceful for a man seeking highest office, I think, to talk utter rubbish. And that is utter rubbish. It’s electoral propaganda.

Sounds a little biased to me. “Rubbish”? “Disgraceful”? “Electoral proaganda”? Well, to charges of bias, Piss-ant says “Poppycock!”:

Brian Montopoli: There used to be a pretty vigorous debate about whether the media is reporting the war through an anti-administration liberal bias lens, though that has died down a bittle bit of late. How do you feel about that argument?

Allen Pizzey: I dismiss that. Because I think the Bush administration in particular thinks that anything that doesn’t wholly support everything they say is against them.

Immediately after this dismissal of charges of bias…

Now, no reporter is as objective as we’d like to be. Objectivity is a principle to which we strive to adhere, but we all have our own little biases – our upbringing, our personal political beliefs, whatever touches us in a human way. All of that affects our reporting.

In summary: McCain is desgraceful and speaks rubbish and electoral propaganda, but don’t call that “bias”, even though that’s what Pissy says it is. Got it? Good.

And they wonder why their ratings are in the tank?
