2000th post
This is post #2000 here at the Crush Liberalism Objective World News Service (CLOWNS). I’ve been henpecking at the keyboard now for almost three years, and I’ve got two thousand posts to show for it. Some might say that’s pretty darned sad…and, well, they’re probably right!
Be that as it may, this is a milestone. Granted, not a huge milestone, but a milestone nonetheless. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be doing this, but until I wake up one morning and say “I don’t feel like blogging anymore”, I thank you for putting up with me for this long.
Zimbabwe starving, so UN rewards them
I swear, only at the United freakin’ Nations does this make sense. From Moonbattery:
It looks like socialist dictator Robert Mugabe’s policy of stealing farms from Caucasians and handing them out to the goons who support him isn’t turning out too well for Zimbabwe:
Some 2.1 million people in the country’s southern provinces will face serious food shortages by the third quarter of 2007, and the number will reach 4.1 million in the first three months of 2008, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and the World Food Programme said. About 352,000 tonnes of cereals and 90,000 tonnes of other food aid will be needed to meet the basic needs of the population, the Rome-based agencies have calculated. The crisis can be attributed primarily to “the country’s unprecedented economic decline,” according to Amir Abdulla of the World Food Program. Zimbabwe used to be called the breadbasket of Africa. Thanks to the totalitarian application of liberal politics, it has become hell on Earth, making it the ideal choice to chair the United Nations Commission of Sustainable Development.
Makes sense. The country is starving and farmland is wasting away, rendering the country unsustainable, so according to the pointy-headed elites at the Useless Nations, this situation is a model of “Sustainable Development” for the world to mimic.
"Time Out London heralds the dawn of the Islamic British utopia"
I’m still trying to figure out of the column is a joke or not. The UK has been slouching towards dhimmitude, so it may not be that far-fetched to think this guy’s serious. I happen to think he is. Anywho, from Hot Air:
…you have to read it to believe it. It’s a whitewash for the ages, beginning with a sneering dismissal of right-wing worries about a “society where women are second-class citizens, same sex relationships a crime and Sharia law enforces terrible public disfigurement and death” and segueing into section by section hosannas to the genius of Islamic civilization. From the prostration during prayers, which keeps the joints supple, to the health benefits of banning alcohol and enforcing halal dietary laws to the “revolutionary effect” it would have on education and self-discipline if schools had a little more of a madrassa vibe to them, we’re in for a golden age, kids.
Through it all, two themes recur: the author’s blithe insistence that any failings in the Islamic world are due to “social factors,” not religion, and the contempt he shows for his own culture, most notably in his description of eating habits and the genuinely astonishing assertion that London on balance will become “a little less cruel” thanks to the compulsory donations to charity. As for the section on inter-faith relations and “the guiding hand of Islam,” the less said, the better.
I do like how he regards concerns about this scenario as being exclusively the province of the right-wing, though. Too true, my friends, too true.
Read this “jawdropper”, as LGF describes it:
Race relations
Under Islam all ethnicities are equal. Once you have submitted to Allah you are a Muslim – it doesn’t matter what colour you are. End of story.
Oh. My. Allah. I may have just officially seen it all. “All you have to do is abandon whatever faith, if any, you currently have and submit to Allah. Life’s a bowl of cherries henceforth.
Un-freakin’-believable.
Left outraged that Fred Thompson finds his wife attractive
Hilarious and damning observations from Ace:
Deviating from the Bill/Hillary! model they favor.Dr. Helen wants to know:
When I look at my husband with affection, am I leering?
I guess not since I’m a woman and can do no wrong except for being a right-leaning libertarian. However, if you’re a man, particularly a Republican man, who looks at his wife with affection, you are now accused of “leering”–especially if you are Fred Thompson.
…
This is yet another example of a woman who deep down believes that men have no right to leer at women, lest it be considered a sex offense. And she is not alone, there are many other women who feel that unless one is Bill Clinton or the object of their own lecherous desires (of course, for these women, their own desire is called empowerment–not lechery!), a regular joe has no right to look at a woman–not even in pictures–with desire in his heart. In their eagar quest to control men’s sexual rights, some “feminist” women (and other prudish ones too!) go to extremes to shame, expose or intimidate men who let their lust for women dare come to the surface.Weird. Feminists continue insisting that it’s empowering to f### everything that moves, except your actual husband, who must be sexually punished as a state-sanctioned enforcer of The Oppressive Patriarchy.
…
Honestly, The Feminists Who Put Out (TM) are really ruining their “pro-sex street cred” by constantly nattering on about everyone’s base sexual impulses. Why don’t you all just chill out, pop open a bottle of wine, and dig on the cool grooves of kd lang and leave the rest of us alone?
Ace should have given me the beverage warning before dropping a “STFU and jam to kd lang” reference. That was hilarious!
Continuing:
Am I to understand it’s wrong for Fred Thompson to leer at his wife, and yet the lefty feminists have no problem with Bill Clinton leering at 22-year-old Monica Lewinksy’s thong, nor turning her into a Human Humidor?Really?
I guess Fred Thompson had better start diddling an intern, quick. It’s the only way to insulate himself from charges of lechery.
I’ve always considered feminists to be a bunch of humorless, hypocritical, disingenuous, unintelligent and hyper-emotional nags. Stories like this only confirm that notion.
Moonbats want Blue Angels out of…
…where else…San Franistan. From the Examiner:
The annual aerial show by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels — a San Francisco tradition dating back to 1981 that pumps millions into the local economy — is running into opposition from three local peace advocacy groups that are calling for a permanent halt to the popular Fleet Week flyover.CodePink, Global Exchange and Veterans for Peace, Chapter 69, are working with Supervisor Chris Daly on a Board of Supervisors resolution to address concerns over the Blue Angels.
The Code Pinkos have a willing ear on San Franistan’s Board of Supervisors? Color me with the “unsurprised” crayon. This part’s pretty funny, though:
CodePink has launched an online petition, signed by more than 500 people to date, calling on leaders to end the flyovers for reasons of public safety, air pollution and fuel waste.
The Code Pinkos have a whopping 500 siggies in a city the size (and political makeup) of San Franistan! I smell a mandate (insert “Barney Frank weekend plans” joke here).
Oh, well, this is just an aberration, right? It’s not like San Franistan has a history of irrational and reflexive hatred for the armed forces that protects their moonbattery-laced enclave on the Left Coast. Oh, wait a minute. Yeah, they do have such a history. My bad.
In case you have yet to do so, feel free to go ahead and question their patriotism. While you’re at it, go ahead and question their gray matter, too.
