Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Dems pass warrantless wiretapping bill, Bush signs

The Democrat-led Congress passed a bill that allows for warrantless wiretapping, and Bush signed it. The NY Times headline reads “Bush Signs Law to Widen Reach for Wiretapping”, though it could just as easily have read “Democrats Pass Law to Widen Reach for Wiretapping”. Yeah, fat chance of that happening.

Anywho, I have to wonder: Are the Democrats going to “impeach themselves” over this?

I mean, Jim “fellating Cambodian boy” Webb (D-VA) wanted to hold Bush by the testes on the warrantless wiretapping issue in March. In August, he voted to allow such wiretapping. DiFi (D-CA) shrieked in horror at the thought of domestic surveillance in May. In August, she too voted for the program. The roll call is here.

Zogby’s polls supposedly showed that America wanted to impeach Bush over the warrantless wiretapping, and Democrats responded by…uh…voting with the President. I’ll be waiting to see if Congressional Democrats fire themselves over the matter.

Gore not serious about global “warming”

We all know by now that Gore’s concern about global “warming” is about as genuine as Bubba’s wedding vows. From his global jetsetting in jumbo-sized carbon spewers to that energy hog he lives in (part of the year, anyway) in Nashville, he has standards that he demands of us little people to which he will not personally adhere.

Well now, add this to the Goreacle’s resumé: he doesn’t think China should have to curb emissions until America does. From Allahpundit:

He had two options. Take his own global-warming platform seriously by encouraging all countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as expeditiously as they can? Or work a nonsensical wealth-based double standard in there to thrill and delight “the international community”?

Environmentalist or leftist? Choices, choices.

Emerging economies such as China are justified in holding back on fighting greenhouse gas emissions until richer polluters like the United States do more to solve the problem, former Vice President Al Gore said Wednesday…

Chinese officials said they would act after industrial countries such as the United States and others make changes themselves, Gore said, addressing a conference in Madrid on global warming.

“They’re right in saying that. But we have to act quickly,” said Gore, who was nominated last week for a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in drawing attention to global warming.

“China’s reaction to the scientific report last week was disappointing, but it was instructive,” Gore said.

Exit question: Does this class-based exception to the scourge of glacier-melting help or hinder his Nobel chances?

True environmentalists believe in doing their own part, but they also at least pay lip service to everyone else doing theirs. Gore is saying that he doesn’t care if China cleans up or not, so long as he gets to bash America first. Then again, as Florida 2000 shows, this man routinely fails to have his own country’s best interests at heart.

This schmuck is not to be taken seriously as an environmentalist at all.

Grahamnesty gets censured by SC GOP group

From Greenville, SC:

Sen. Lindsey Graham defended his conservative credentials today in the wake of Monday night’s censure by the Greenville County Republican Executive Committee.

The panel, made of representatives from each of the county’s precincts, censured Graham for continuing “to adamantly support legalization of illegal immigrants in spite of thousands of communications of ‘strong opposition’ from local grassroots Republicans.

The resolution, adopted late Monday night by the committee, also censured Graham for having “expressed contempt” for conservative activists in comments made to a Hispanic civil rights organization.

Samuel Harms, county GOP chairman, said told The Greenville News the Graham resolution “shows that the grassroots conservative activists of the party are thoroughly fed up with Lindsey Graham and his statements that we are bigots who will be told to shut up because we do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants.”

He referred to remarks attributed to Graham at the annual meeting of the National Council of La Raza, a Latino civil rights and advocacy organization.

Calling La Raza a “Latino civil rights and advocacy organization” is like calling the National Organization for Women “a group of heterosexual females with no anti-male agenda”. It’s quite disingenuous.

“La Raza” is Spanish for “the race”, and not “race” as in “marathon.” They are a Latino supremacist group, pure and simple. And Lindsey Grahamnesty pandered to them while pursuing his criminal alien amnesty plan, telling La Raza that “We’re going to tell the bigots to shut up.” Grahamnesty is now seeing just what his constituents think of being called a bigot.

Feds crack down on hiring criminal aliens

In other news, Hell freezes over. From the Old Gray Hag:

In a new effort to crack down on illegal immigrants, federal authorities are expected to announce tough rules this week that would require employers to fire workers who use false Social Security numbers.

Officials said the rules would be backed up by stepped-up raids on workplaces across the country that employ illegal immigrants.

Employers, especially in agriculture and low-wage industries, said they were deeply worried about the administration’s new stance, which could force them to lay off thousands of low-wage immigrant workers. More than 70 percent of farmworkers in the American fields are illegal immigrants, according to estimates by growers’ associations.

If employers are hiring (especially if they’re knowingly hiring) criminal aliens, then they should be worried! If they’re breaking the law, they need to know that there are consequences.

In a stunning display of gall, leftist groups are going to sue to…wait for it…keep the law from being enforced!

Immigrants rights groups and labor unions, including the A.F.L.-C.I.O, predicted the rules would result in discrimination against Hispanic workers. They said they were preparing legal challenges to try to stop them from taking effect.

“The enforcement is only on the immigration side,” Ana Avendaño, associate general counsel for the A.F.L.-C.I.O, said today. “They don’t do any labor inspection. So they are just giving employers another tool to repress workers’ rights.”

Beyond looking for criminal aliens, “labor inspection” isn’t the job of Homeland Security, you dolt. And criminal aliens don’t have “worker’s rights” because…why is this so hard to grasp?…they’re here in violation of federal law!

Daily humor

Some of you may have heard this one before. At any rate, funny is funny, regardless of party affiliation, and this is funny.

Donald Rumsfeld is briefing George Bush in the Oval Office. “Oh and finally, sir, three Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq today.” Bush goes pale, his jaw hanging open in stunned disbelief. He buries his face in his hands, muttering “My God…My God”. “Mr. President,” says Cheney, “we lose soldiers all the time, and it’s terrible. But I’ve never seen you so upset. What’s the matter?” Bush looks up and says…”How many is a Brazilian?”
