Shrillary: “Surge is working, but…”
This wench is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief. From the AP:
New military tactics in Iraq are working but the best way to honor U.S. soldiers is “by beginning to bring them home,” Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told war veterans Monday.
It’s working, so let’s stop it! Friggin’ brilliant, Hilldawg. I just started a diet and lost two pounds already, so there’s no sense in keeping it going, right?

Another “Idiotic Statement of The Year” nomination!
Comment by The Truth Hurts | August 21, 2007
Not nessisarily.
The surge may be working right now. But I don’t think its possible for us to maintain this level for very long. What happens when we have to draw down the troops?
I don’t agree with the way she made her statement but I think she does have a point. (if not the one she was trying to make)
Hey even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I gotta ask.
Vince, what do you think is Shrillary’s underlying reason for saying what she said?
I mean we know how she really feels about our military.
Comment by tnjack | August 21, 2007
Tnjack,
I don’t claim to know what goes on in her head, nor do I wish to know. If I had to guess I’d say she’s trying to grab points by sticking with the only real message the democrats have right now. We want out of Iraq. However I also feel the only real reason the Dems are sticking to that point is more to push in the “we’re not Republican’s” message than any real desire to do anything about the current situation.
I’ll be honest, I hate this war. We should have never started it. We all know how I feel about that particular issue and if you want to call me a barking moonbat, fine, save your wrists because I really don’t give a rats ass. However I’m not going to support someone just because they say “Elect me and we’re out.” I don’t care what letter they stick after their name.
The fact is that it does not matter at this point if Iraq did or didn’t have weapons of mass destruction. It doesn’t matter if the US lied, fixed intelligence, or whatever to get into the war, for the right or wrong reasons. Believe what you want.
What matters is that as Colin Powell said, “You break it you’ve bought it.” Were there now and we’ve destroyed their government, crippled their infrastructure and economy. If nothing else we have a moral obligation to help these people get back on their feet. Then and only then, can we leave Iraq. If we leave all we will have is a failed state with even MORE people who now have reason to hate us.
Is the surge working? Maybe it is. But that in the end also doesn’t matter. The surge is only good as a temporary stopgap measure to keep things under relative control until a better strategy can be developed and deployed. Even if we wanted to keep the surge up indefinitely, we can’t. The generals themselves have said we do not have the troops or the resources. Unless such a strategy is implemented once the surge ends we’ll be right back where we started.
The question I personally want answered is what are we going to do to stableize the country, rebuild the infrastructure, and allow the government (be it this one or something else they elect) to take control of the day to day running of the country and overall security.
So far NO ONE from EITHER side of the aisle has given me an adequate answer to that question.
Piss on both the Dems and Republicans until they do.

Geez Vince. All I wanted to know was what you thought Shrillary meant by her statement. I didn’t mean to debate the war issue and I may even agree with some of your points.
You raised a good point about rebuilding the infrastructure however. We won’t see it in the MSM (should we wonder why) but there’s been substantial progress in that area. I talk to a lot of military, active and retired, who have shown me pictures of their family members serving in Iraq alongside of new schools and powerplants. These soldiers and Marines are pictured with laughing and playing children and they have some wonderful stories of their accomplishments….but they will NEVER be on the front page of MSM newspapers or on CNN, ABC, CBS et al.
Vince I’m afraid we cannot believe everything our journalists are telling us, regardless of our political affiliation.

Tnjack,
Didn’t mean to bite your head off and I apologize if thats the way I sounded. I simply meant that Hil’s opinion over weather the surge was working or not was pointless at best, and a grab for a photo op at worst. And I’m sick of the democrats pretending that we can just declare victory and run. Sure I would like too, but its just flat out wrong. I’m also sick of them saying that they are going to pull out out of Iraq when they know damn well they’re not.
I agree that our media isn’t telling us the real story. It’s hard to vote when the media thats supposed to be informing you does a piss poor job of it.
