Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

bin Laden spouting Democrat talking points

Assuming this really is bin Laden (and there’s reason to believe it’s not, but humor me here), he blathers on about the following:

… Bin Laden also spoke to the ongoing situation in Iraq throughout the tape, heavily criticizing the Bush administration.

He says to the American people, “you made one of your greatest mistakes, in that you neither brought to account nor punished those who waged this war, not even the most violent of its murderers, [former Defense Secretary Donald] Rumsfeld…”

“You permitted Bush to complete his first term, and stranger still, chose him for a second term, which gave him a clear mandate from you — with your full knowledge and consent — to continue to murder our people in Iraq and Afghanistan. Then you claim to be innocent! The innocence of yours is like my innocence of the blood of your sons on the 11th — were I to claim such a thing.”

Bin Laden says President Bush’s words echo “neoconservatives like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Richard Perle.”

“People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven’t made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there.”

The transcript indicates that bin Laden refers to statements from U.S. soldiers in Iraq, from an interview taped by a British journalist. Portions of the interview aired in a July report on ABC News.

“It would benefit you to listen to the poignant messages of your soldiers in Iraq, who are paying — with their blood, nerves and scattered limbs — the price for these sorts of irresponsible statements,” the transcript says.

“Among them is the eloquent message of Joshua which he sent by way of the media, in which he wipes the tears from his eyes and describes American politicians in harsh terms and invites them to join him there for a few days,” the statement continues.

According to the transcript, bin Laden says there are two ways to end the war:

“The first is from our side, and it is to continue to escalate the killing and fighting against you.”

The second is to do away with the American democratic system of government. “It has now become clear to you and the entire world the impotence of the democratic system and how it plays with the interests of the peoples and their blood by sacrificing soldiers and populations to achieve the interests of the major corporations.”

The rambling transcript also mentions French President Nicolas Sarkozy, which suggests the tape was made after Sarkozy’s election in May.

Bin Laden comes close to offering a date for the tape with this by saying, “… just a few days ago, the Japanese observed the 62nd anniversary of the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by your nuclear weapons.” The anniversary was on August 6.

He goes on to call Noam Chomsky “among one of the most capable of those from your own side,” and mentions global warming and “the Kyoto accord.”

He also speaks to recent issues grabbing headlines in the United States, referring to “the reeling of many of you under the burden of interest-related debts, insane taxes and real estate mortgages; global warming and its woes…”

We also see where he trashes capitalism:

“This is why I tell you: as you liberated yourselves before from the slavery of monks, kings and feudalism, you should liberate yourselves from the deception, shackles and attrition of the capitalist system,” he said.

Wow. Blasting capitalism, Bush-bashing, faux concern for our soldiers, Bush-bashing, global “warming”, Bush-bashing, railing against corporations, Bush-bashing, praising renowned socialist Noam Chomsky, Bush-bashing, dhimmitude, Bush-bashing, “no blood for oil”, Bush-bashing, America-bashing…oh, and Bush-bashing. I can’t tell whether these are the ramblings of Osama bin Laden or of Howard Dean and his minions.

This part, though, is surely bound to infuriate Democrats:

“To conclude,” bin Laden says, “I invite you to embrace Islam.” He goes on to say: “There are no taxes in Islam, but rather there is a limited Zakaat [alms] totaling 2.5 percent.”

But hey…nobody’s perfect, right?

“‘GREEN’ GORE GOES GULFSTREAM: VIDEO CATCHES ECO-WARRIOR ON LUXURY PRIVATE JET”

If it weren’t for double standards, Gore would have no standards at all. From Drudge:

As former Vice President Al Gore waits to hear if he has won this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for his tireless effort on climate change, a new video will air this weekend capturing Gore on a fuel-guzzling private jet!

FOXNEWS host Sean Hannity is set to unleash the damning video this Sunday night, network sources reveal.

All I really ask, Al, is that you STFU about how we’re cooking the planet…while you’re the one operating the microwave.

Point to ponder

Doesn’t that Bircheresque anti-war crank Ron Paul (currently polling around 2% in the GOP prez primary) bear a striking resemblance to Ace Ventura’s creepy landlord Mr. Shickadance? Has anyone ever seen these two people in the same place at the same time? Hmmmmmmm…

Political correctness steals innocence of children

Congrats, Euros. Your fear of “offending” someone and of being “insensitive” caused this to happen (hat tip to Michelle Malkin):

A homosexual foster couple were left free to sexually abuse vulnerable boys in their care because social workers feared being accused of discrimination if they investigated complaints, an inquiry concluded yesterday.

Craig Faunch and Ian Wathey were one of the first homosexual couples in the country to be officially approved as foster parents. They looked after 18 children in only 15 months. With no previous convictions, they came across as respectable men who simply wanted to help boys with a variety of problems. In reality, they were paedophiles, who repeatedly abused the children in their care.

Even when the mother of two of the children reported her suspicions to the council, officials accepted the men’s explanations and did nothing. Instead of banning children from staying with Faunch and Wathey, they sent youngsters with more serious problems to them. Between them, the couple abused four boys aged between eight and 14.

In a scathing report published yesterday, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council was condemned for treating the men as “trophy carers”. The children’s charity Kidscape said those in charge of overseeing the safety of children in the care of Faunch and Wathey had allowed political correctness to override common sense.

The report, following an independent review of the case, said: “One manager described the couple as ‘trophy carers’ which led to ’slack arrangements’ over placement.

“Another said that by virtue of their sexuality they had a ‘badge’ which made things less questionable.

“The sexual orientation of the men was a significant cause of people not ‘thinking the unthinkable’.

“It was clear that a number of staff were afraid of being thought homophobic.

“The fear of being discriminatory led them to fail to discriminate between the appropriate and the abusive.”

There’s more, like the fact that one of their victims was a 14-year-old autistic boy. But I don’t think you need to read the whole thing in order to get the idea here: political correctness is horrific and dangerous.

Chuck the Schmuck slanders troops, then tries to cover up his slander

Maybe it was a Kerryesque “botched joke”? Uh-huh…sure it was. From Sweetness and Light:

Schumer Deletes US Troop Slur From His Speech

As proudly displayed on Senator Chuck Schumer’s own taxpayer provided website:

We’ve heard of success stories every six or eight months. This province, this town, this city. “They’re cleared, they’re safe.” And then because of the basic facts on the ground, we revert to the old situation. And let me be clear: the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge.

The lack of protection for these tribes from al Qaeda made it clear to these tribes, “We have to fight al Qaeda ourselves.” It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords had to create a temporary peace here on their own. And that is because there was no one else there protecting them.

Of coure the Senator is a liar. These local ”warlords,” as he calls them, are working with the US forces. They are not fighting Al Qaeda and the other militias on their own.

If the locals thought the US troops were incompetent they wouldn’t bother. However the opposite is true. And it is born out in every news report on the situation on the ground.

But Mr. Schumer will say anything to try to bring about America’s defeat in Iraq and in the war on terror in general. For the Senator is also a traitor.

But, it turns out, Chuck Schumer is not only a liar and a traitor, he is a coward as well.

According to what he posted on his site (which I have preserved with a screen grab) he said:

And let me be clear: the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The lack of protection for these tribes from al Qaeda made it clear to these tribes, “We have to fight al Qaeda ourselves.”

But according to the video of his remarks on the Senate floor Mr. Schumer said this:

The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the Surge, not because of the Surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from Al Qaeda said to these tribes: We have to fight Al Qaeda ourselves.

But who are you going to believe?

The honorable Mr. Schumer or your lying eyes?

Hmmm…which to believe? I’ll take “My Lying Eyes” for $100, Alex!

Border Patrol agents told to stop being so thorough

No hablo “national security”? From the Washington Times:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Texas have been ordered to abbreviate national security checks at one of the nation”s busiest ports of entry to speed up travel between the United States and Mexico, according to official documents and multiple interviews with agents.

An Aug. 16 memorandum from CBP El Paso field office Director Luis Garcia directs agents to limit inspections of vehicle and pedestrian border crossers as wait times escalate. The document, obtained by The Washington Times, sets new guidelines that border inspectors say undermine efforts to prevent terrorists and other criminals from entering the United States.

“Basically, we were only running the documents of the driver every fifth vehicle, so everyone else was coming in without being checked to the same standards. Even if you stick with the letter of this memo, it still falls short for national security purposes.”

El Paso is one of the world’s busiest ports of entry. According to the CBP, nearly 40,000 cars went through the ports of entry at El Paso, Santa Teresa and Fabens daily in July. More than 145,000 pedestrians crossed into the United States during that period.

Rosemary Jenks, immigration lawyer and government relations director for Numbers U.S.A., said the directives in the El Paso memo violate federal law.

In Section 110 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, all border inspectors are to collect a record of departure for every alien departing the United States and match the records of departure with the record of the alien’s arrival in the United States.

The purpose of this requirement is to ensure the attorney general has the ability to identify people who overstay their visas for national security reasons.

“Customs and Border Protection should not be telling its agents at ports of entry to abandon critical security procedures when the lines get too long — including checks for drugs or even radioactive materials,” said Rep. Lamar Smith, Texas Republican and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee.

“If so, they are ignoring the law and putting convenience ahead of American lives.”

Other documents obtained by the paper also show that customs officers in the El Paso sector have been told to “not deny permits” of entry to any person entering the United States, regardless of indicators that they’ve overstayed their visa in the past.

CBP Chief George Carpenter, shift commander, sent a memorandum to all border inspectors informing them never to deny I-94 forms, which allow non-immigrants extended stay in the United States, even if those people failed to turn in previous forms required by law. All the El Paso inspectors were required to sign the memorandum.

According to multiple border inspectors, the agents who denied entry to non-immigrants without proof of the appropriate crossing forms were reprimanded by supervisors.

Border inspectors told The Times that Chief Carpenter’s memorandum was part of the agency’s verbal policy for years. The officers indicated their surprise when it was put in writing.

“It was a verbal policy, and they didn’t want to put it in writing so they can get away with it and deny it later,” one customs official said on the condition of anonymity

“That’s the environment that we live in. These are failed policies. We’re not supposed to question the people crossing the border; we’re supposed to just let them in. When you look at the terrorist aspect of it — it was fertile ground for a sleeper cell because they can do or say anything and we’re supposed to believe it.”

Border Patrol agents are getting in trouble for doing their jobs and following the law, and our security is being compromised in the process. But hey, as long as the criminal alien apologists get their cheap lettuce, then who cares if a dirty bomb goes off in someone else’s city, right?
