Political correctness steals innocence of children

Congrats, Euros. Your fear of “offending” someone and of being “insensitive” caused this to happen (hat tip to Michelle Malkin):

A homosexual foster couple were left free to sexually abuse vulnerable boys in their care because social workers feared being accused of discrimination if they investigated complaints, an inquiry concluded yesterday.

Craig Faunch and Ian Wathey were one of the first homosexual couples in the country to be officially approved as foster parents. They looked after 18 children in only 15 months. With no previous convictions, they came across as respectable men who simply wanted to help boys with a variety of problems. In reality, they were paedophiles, who repeatedly abused the children in their care.

Even when the mother of two of the children reported her suspicions to the council, officials accepted the men’s explanations and did nothing. Instead of banning children from staying with Faunch and Wathey, they sent youngsters with more serious problems to them. Between them, the couple abused four boys aged between eight and 14.

In a scathing report published yesterday, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council was condemned for treating the men as “trophy carers”. The children’s charity Kidscape said those in charge of overseeing the safety of children in the care of Faunch and Wathey had allowed political correctness to override common sense.

The report, following an independent review of the case, said: “One manager described the couple as ‘trophy carers’ which led to ’slack arrangements’ over placement.

“Another said that by virtue of their sexuality they had a ‘badge’ which made things less questionable.

“The sexual orientation of the men was a significant cause of people not ‘thinking the unthinkable’.

“It was clear that a number of staff were afraid of being thought homophobic.

“The fear of being discriminatory led them to fail to discriminate between the appropriate and the abusive.”

There’s more, like the fact that one of their victims was a 14-year-old autistic boy. But I don’t think you need to read the whole thing in order to get the idea here: political correctness is horrific and dangerous.

  2. Shane, with all due respect…you’re a dumbass.

    I never said all homosexuals are pedophiles. What the story says is that THESE homosexuals are pedophiles, and that the warning signs were there for the authorities to see that THESE homosexuals were pedophiles. But the authorities chose to look the other way out of a fear of being branded as politically incorrect/homophobic/intolerant/(insert label du jour here).

    So…are you defending THESE pedophiles because they’re homosexual? Because if you’re going to make the “logical” (and in your case, I use that word loosely) leap that my condemning of THESE homosexuals as pedophiles means that I think ALL homosexuals are pedophiles, then I can certainly make the “logical” leap that your defense of THESE homosexuals means that you think ALL homosexuals are entitled to molest children. I don’t think you really want to go there, do you?

    I just read the post again and I’m having trouble finding anything that comes close to saying all homosexuals are pedophiles. Can you point it out for me?

    See, what I got out of this post is that children suffered abuse because spineless social workers and officials were afraid of being branded as homophobes from people like you.

  5. I notice that when certain individuals who happen to be homosexuals commit a crime of a sexual nature the high priests of PC deny the sexual orientation of the offenders.

    Doesn’t this by proxy mean that if you are a homosexual than society’s rules and code of conduct doesn’t apply to you.
    If these PC Peons had any brains they’d realize that they’re being homophobic.(Gotta love the sarcasm and twisted irony)
    By creating different standards for Gays,Lesbians,Bisexuals and Transexuals they are saying that gay people are different even though they swear up and down that Gays are like everyone else.

    What I’m trying to say is if these PC zealots believe what they are demanding us to accept than they should hold homosexuals who commit sexual crimes against children and other assorted victims accountable.

    They even went so far as to say that men who sexually harrassed other men were not gay. @_@
    Well if they’re not gay then are they bisexual? Of course the PC high priests wouldn’t even mention the sexuality of the culprits they would just deny reality to protect their prized victim group.
    I’m thinking to myself who do they think they’re fooling……

    Even though I think the gay lifestyle is immoral I don’t believe all gay people are evil pedophiles and shameless perverts!
    Maybe instead of crying victim Gays,Lesbians,Bisexuals and Transexuals should just condemn the sexual predators who happen to have the same sexual orientation as them.

  6. I notice the reason they don’t condemn homosexuals who are guilty of sexual misconduct or report it in the news is because they believe it will inflame anti-homosexual prejudice.

    I hate to burst the bubble of these PC peabrains but what does protecting sexual predators have to do with the interests of gays who aren’t predatory?

    I think it is silly that Shane thinks condemning the immoral conduct(child molestation to be precise) of these two men is homophobia. I think he is being emotional and not thinking rationally. I wouldn’t think a child molestor who happens to be straight would be any less of a predator than a child molestor who happens to be gay,lesbian,bisexual and transexual.
