Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

NC government school bans wearing American flag on 9/11

Government schools and political correctness just seem to go hand-in-hand, don’t they? From LGF.

Here’s the latest outrage to come from the moral equivalence mindset, as school administrators in North Carolina banned the wearing of the US flag—because they didn’t want to favor one flag over another.

Not even their own country’s flag. This is bad craziness.

Under a new school rule, students at Hobbton High School are not allowed to wear items with flags, from any country, including the United States.

The new rule stems from a controversy over students wearing shirts bearing flags of other countries.

Gayle Langston said her daughter, Jessica, was told to remove her stars and stripes t-shirt.

“Today she wanted to wear her shirt, and I had to tell her no,” said Langston. “She didn’t like it at all because I knew it would get her in trouble. Of all days, 9/11, she could not wear her American Flag shirt.”

The superintendent of schools in Sampson County calls the situation unfortunate, but says educators didn’t want to be forced to pick and choose which flags should be permissible.

Dumb#sses.

oddly there is no phone number that I can find anyway on the site. I’d sure be calling if I could find one……….

Well, I just found a TON of phone numbers here:

    http://www.ncpublicschools.org . . .

If you are in NC, give them a call and thank them for not allowing the American Flag. Hell, if you are in Alaska, call them and thank them.

  6. This is insane. What will they ban next?

It just blows me away that school authorities actually rationalized this and felt it a necessary measure. Our own flag, banned in our own country…what’s wrong with this picture?? Who are they trying to appease?

  7. It’s called equal treatment and not having a double standard. Also called, avoiding a lawsuit because some parent wants to bitch. I wonder who was complaining about the other countries’ flags in the first place. I’ll go on a limb and assume it was a Mexican flag that garnered the initial ban. Something just tells me it was thus. X/

The real question, what does it matter? Technically speaking, from what I’ve read in the past, using the American flag on a tshirt, cupholder, license plate, or anything that is not an actual flag is not supposed to happen anyways. Could be wrong, as it’s been a while since I read that and it could have been inaccurate to begin with.

It’s called “equal stupidity”, but why quibble over semantics?

The real question, what does it matter?

You think that it makes sense to say in a country that you are not allowed to wear anything that expresses pride in that country? If I were in France (and I detest France), I wouldn’t be offended to see someone wearing France’s colors or flag on their shirts. I’m funny that way.

  10. In the end, I agree it is stupidity, because what difference does wearing a flag of ANY country make in a public school? Thus, they made a mountain out of a mole hill and banned them all, even our own.
