OH Dem legislator shows nekkid photo to school kids
Oh, so that’s how to pass a law!
NORWALK, Ohio — A state legislator surprised a high school class when the computer he was using projected a photo of a nude woman during a lecture on how a bill becomes a law.
State Rep. Matthew Barrett was giving a civics lesson Tuesday when he inserted a data memory stick into the school computer and the projected image of a topless woman appeared instead of the graphics presentation he had downloaded.
Police interviewed Barrett and school officials and seized the data memory stick and the computer to determine where the image came from, a state highway patrol spokesman said.
Barrett said there were a few snickers from the approximately 20 students in the senior government class at Norwalk High School when the image appeared. He said he immediately pulled the memory stick out of the computer.
The legislator said he finished his lecture using printouts and then met with the school’s principal and technology staff, who examined the stick. He said the school’s technology director determined the stick had a directory of nude images in addition to Barrett’s presentation on civics lessons.
“I have no idea where these came from,” the Democrat said.
Barrett said the data memory stick was a gift he received about three weeks ago from a legislative liaison from the state Library of Ohio.
“Sir, does this mean that I have to take off my clothes to help get a law passed around here?” wondered little Suzy.
By the way, though the article did wait until the second-to-last paragraph to reveal that the dude is a Democrat, at least they did reveal it, unlike other articles.
More global “warming” science, but this one has common sense
From Neal Boortz:
Danish scientists have determined that the sun is still the main factor in any global climate change.
The study was conducted by the Danish National Space Center. It directly rebuts the UK study that came out in July, which claims that there hasn’t been a solar-climate link in the past 20 years.
Wow, how could there be such staggering differences in opinions? The Danish scientists explain that the UK study relied on surface air temperature to determine that there was no solar-climate link. What the British must have forgotten is that air temperature does not respond to the solar cycle. So of course they found nothing!
The Danish scientists say that the solar cycle can be measured using tropospheric air temperature and ocean sub-surface water temperatures. From this they found that “the most recent global temperature trend is close to zero.”
And don’t forget to check out this study just published. It refutes Al Gore’s “Hockey Stick” temperature graph, which he uses to argue the recent spike in average global temperatures.
The sun makes things warmer? Who knew?
Martinez stepping downs as RNC chair
Finally some good news for the GOP. From Hot Air:
Sometime early next year, ostensibly so that he can pass the baton to whoever ends up as the GOP nominee but probably because his position on the issue for which he’s most famous doesn’t exactly set the grassroots scurrying for their checkbooks. His approval rating in Florida, incidentally, went from 50% in January down the toilet to 38% in July. I wonder why.
Exit question: Replacements? Hotline says SC GOP chair Katon Dawson is angling for the job but South Carolina’s already as red as they come. The party needs a capable manager with enough personal appeal to fundraise effectively and who hails from the midwest or northeast to add a little national flavor to the GOP’s image. I know just the guy — but unfortunately he’s otherwise occupied at the moment.
I lamented when Martinez was selected that the party had lost its damned mind. Perhaps with Mel’s approval ratings in the toilet, the party figured it might be a better idea to pick someone who’s at least more popular than a root canal.
Enviro-nuts don’t care about blind people
True, I could have just as easily titled this post “Blind people want Earth to fry, so long as they get across the street safely.” But come on, why would I want to insult the blind? Have a heart, people! From Breitbart/AP:
Gas-electric hybrid vehicles, the status symbol for the environmentally conscientious, are coming under attack from a constituency that doesn’t drive: the blind.
Because hybrids make virtually no noise at slower speeds when they run solely on electric power, blind people say they pose a hazard to those who rely on their ears to determine whether it’s safe to cross the street or walk through a parking lot.
“I’m used to being able to get sound cues from my environment and negotiate accordingly. I hadn’t imagined there was anything I really wouldn’t be able to hear,” said Deborah Kent Stein, chairwoman of the National Federation of the Blind’s Committee on Automotive and Pedestrian Safety. “We did a test, and I discovered, to my great dismay, that I couldn’t hear it.”
Dude, that’s just surreal.
MSM’s definition of “brutal”
The Old Gray Hag is at it again:
When the Justice Department publicly declared torture “abhorrent” in a legal opinion in December 2004, the Bush administration appeared to have abandoned its assertion of nearly unlimited presidential authority to order brutal interrogations.
But soon after Alberto R. Gonzales’s arrival as attorney general in February 2005, the Justice Department issued another opinion, this one in secret. It was a very different document, according to officials briefed on it, an expansive endorsement of the harshest interrogation techniques ever used by the Central Intelligence Agency.
So just what kind of “brutal” and “harshest” torture techniques are we talking about here?
The new opinion, the officials said, for the first time provided explicit authorization to barrage terror suspects with a combination of painful physical and psychological tactics, including head-slapping, simulated drowning and frigid temperatures.
Oh. My. God (insert politically correct deity of choice here). Bamboo shoots under the fingernails, Chinese water torture, zapping testicles with a stungun? No, think much worse…the dreaded Benny Hill head slap! Ruthless b#stards! My gosh, just think if they did that to Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, he probably would have cracked and given us plum information. Oh, wait…he did give us plum information.
In other words, “harsh” and “brutal” (but far from torture) interrogation techniques have worked. Therein lies the quandry for the left: either (a) their mantra that “torture doesn’t work” is dead wrong, or (b) the info we got from KSM and his jihadist camelhumping buddies was obtained from non-torture techniques, meaning our troops didn’t torture him to get it. Either way, the left loses their argument.
I hate it to break it to you folks on the left, but big group hugs, taxpayer-subsidized prayer rugs, and a lifetime supply of falafel isn’t going to get the intel we need to stop future terrorist attacks. If we have to wound their inner jihadist by giving them a noogie, then by Allah, freakin’ do it!
