Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Sabato: We need a new, liberal Constitution

Larry Sabato, the once-respected political science who jumped the shark last year by shilling for renowned kiddie porn author Jim Webb, has a column that removes all doubt as to his ditching of his once-renowned objectivity.  Larry’s column reads like a Moonbat Manifesto:

The presidential candidates are offering prescriptions for everything from Iraq to healthcare, but listen closely. Their fixes are situational and incremental. Meanwhile, the underlying structural problems in American politics and government are systemic and prevent us from solving our most intractable challenges.

If we really want to make progress and achieve greater fairness as a society, it is time for elemental change. And we should start by looking at the Constitution, with the goal of holding a new Constitutional Convention.

The Constitution remains brilliant in its overall design and sound with respect to the Bill of Rights and the separation of powers. But there are numerous archaic provisions that inhibit constructive change and adaptation. These constitutional bits affect the daily life of the republic and every citizen in it. A few examples:

* Restoring the war powers balance.  … (Blah-blah-blah, Bush is acting like an emporer, blah-blah… – Ed.)

* Creating a more representative Senate. … (Blah-blah-blah, “Big state coastal elitists should trump the wishes of normal America!”, blah-blah-blah… – Ed.)

* Transforming presidential elections. … (Blah-blah-blah, “Gore got more, I’m still pissed about 2000!”, blah-blah-blah… – Ed.)

* Ending second-class citizenship. … (Blah-blah-blah, “Jacques Chirac for U.S. Prez!”, blah-blah-blah… – Ed.)

Larry, it was nice knowing the former you.  I have no idea who the hell you are these days.

  1. Yes, we should seriously consider improving our Constition. BUT HOW? Sabato has not focused on the process; Congress has refused to obey Article V of the Constitution and give us an Article V convention; learn more at wwww.foavc.org and become a member

  2. OMG! I’m more determined than ever to keep anyone with those sentiments from ever getting elected!
    So they’re agenda matters more than the will of the people definitely unconstitutional!
    I thought the US form of Government is supposed to be by the People and for the People not the Politicians A.K.A. the wouldbe tyrants!
