Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

UPDATED: Cleveland high school shooting

UPDATE (10/11/2007 – 11:11 A.M. EST): Not surprisingly, my question posed yesterday wondering how long it would take the ‘bats to blame Bush for the shooting has been answered in less than 24 hours by this dimwit.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

For those who haven’t heard, there was a high school shooting in downtown Cleveland. Story here. Fortunately, the only fatality was when the shooter capped himself. His four victims all lived.

Thoughts go out to the families and friends of the victims. But I just wouldn’t be me if I didn’t ask the intemperate question on everyone’s mind:

How long until the left blames this on George W. Bush?

I’ve gone ahead and added the “moonbats” category to this post, knowing that at some point in the not-too-distant future, the ‘bats will answer the prior paragraph’s question for me.

Quote of the day

From Her Highness:

“I don’t mind them picking on me; they’ve done it for years,” Clinton said to laughter from the audience at Symphony Hall in Boston. “You know, I think I’ve proven I can take care of myself against all of them.

“But President Bush and the Republicans should lay off Graeme Frost and all the other children who are getting health care because we have decided to do the right thing in America,” Clinton said.

”Lay off” or else what, Hilldawg?  You gonna Vince Foster all of us critics?

Night and Day

That was then…:

Remember when the Democrats screamed bloody murder, like this time and that time, charging that Republicans were seeking to “politicize 9/11″?

And this is now…:

Hillary Clinton thinks she’s come up with an ideal counterweight to offset Rudy Giuliani‘s post-9/11 popularity – but actually, she’s only revealed yet again what 9/11 means most to her: more victims for Uncle Sam to take care of.

Clinton’s effort to best Giuliani on this score came in a TV ad she unveiled Thursday focusing on health care.

The ad shows images of 9/11 and says Clinton “stood by Ground Zero workers who sacrificed their health after so many sacrificed their lives – and kept standing ’til this administration took action.”

In so doing, New York’s junior senator becomes the first 2008 presidential candidate from either party to use 9/11 footage to hawk a political message.

Not that there’s necessarily anything wrong with that. But who would’ve thought the first 9/11 message from a candidate would be about . . . health care?

Last month, for example, she said: “From the first moment that I came to Ground Zero on the day of the evil attacks . . . I knew we were going to have problems . . . That people were going to get sick and people were going to die from what they were exposed to.”

The moral of the story?  You’re not allowed to reference 9/11 in political ads or messages unless you’re (1) a Democrat; or (2) pimping universal health care.  Got it.  Thanks for the clarification, Hilldawg.

Cuomo & Kurtz take pride in MSM’s anti-war agenda success

From Newsbusters:

On Tuesday’s “Good Morning America,” co-host Chris Cuomo and media critic Howard Kurtz ignored the role that liberal bias has played in the decline of ratings for the network evening newscasts. At the same time, Cuomo and Washington Post reporter seemed to be proud of the media’s ability to turn Americans against the war in Iraq. Kurtz, who has written a book on the subject, asserted, “I believe that these newscasts in 2005 and 2006 played the biggest single role in helping to turn public opinion against the war.”

Cuomo agreed and complimented the journalist’s analysis. He enthused, “It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, well. The war was unpopular. People were looking for the unpopularity of it. At some point, the networks gave that to them.’ But you have a more penetrating look at it. You take a look at it in terms of the role of the nightly newscasts in shaping the ideas about the news…” According to Kurtz, the top three network anchors kept “framing the story in such a way” that the bad news finally had an impact. And while the two reporters wondered about the effect the iPod and internet are having on network low ratings, at no time did they discuss liberal bias or salient facts such as that journalists backed John Kerry over George Bush by a two-to-one margin.

However, Kurtz did enthuse over the liberal comedian Jon Stewart and his program, “The Daily Show.” He gushed, “But Jon Stewart is actually becoming a very big influence even on the newscasts and I don’t think it’s a bad thing.” Kurtz even noted how Stewart set the agenda by first commenting on Hillary Clinton’s odd laugh: “When he did the bit about Hillary laughing….Well, that ended up on the ‘CBS Evening News’ and a lot of cable shows.” Good Morning America” was one such program, but reporter Kate Snow used Stewart’s comedy as talking points to defend Hillary for “disarming her critics with a gleam in her eye and a roar straight from the belly.” Is this an example of Stewart setting the agenda? And how, exactly, can there be an honest discussion of Jon Stewart and the impact he has on the news, if journalists ignore the left-wing outlook that he holds?

The MSM should also take pride in their duping Americans into believing the economy is headed towards or is already in a recession. Sure, we’ve had 22 consecutive quarters of growth, record low unemployment, near-record low jobless claims, record stock market value, and record tax receipts. But if you can just get past those trivialities, the economy is in shambles, right?

Nope…no liberal media bias!

NYC further slouches towards dhimmitude

Something happened there six years ago that they must have already forgotten.  One would think the two gaping holes in the ground where two large skyscrapers once stood would jog their memory.  One would be wrong.  From Breitbart/AP:

New York’s iconic Empire State Building is to be lit up green from Friday in honor of the Muslim holiday of Eid, the biggest festival in the Muslim calendar marking the end of Ramadan, officials said. “This is the first time that the Empire State Building will be illuminated for Eid, and the lighting will become an annual event in the same tradition of the yearly lightings for Christmas and Hannukah,” according to a statement.

Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month, is expected to be celebrated in New York from Friday, depending on when the new moon is sighted, and the city’s tallest skyscraper will remain green until Sunday.

The city was attacked by Islamists, and will likely be so again in the future.  The Big Apple’s response?  “Hey, I know!  Let’s light up the likely next target in green so Muslims will like us.”  Friggin’ brilliant.  As Ace quips:

Let me give you a hint, Empire State Building. As far as the islamic nutbars you are bending over for are concerned, your “green lights” are nothing more than a “go” signal to hit your building next.

This is a disgrace. Have you capitulated to the Caliphate already, New York?

Apparently so.  How many times have I said that political correctness is lethal?  The next attack on NYC will bear that point out.  Alas, those idiots haven’t quite figured it out yet.

Vodka IV saves man’s life

I’m passing on the gratuitous Ted Kennedy reference. From Ace:

The power of Val-U-Rite. I was an early adopter (sort of) on Atkins, and trust me, the science will out on this one too.

Australian doctors credit vodka for saving the life of an Italian tourist who had ingested a large amount of the poisonous substance ethylene glycol, found in antifreeze, which can cause renal failure and often is fatal, French news agency AAP reports. The 24-year-old man, believed to have been attempting to harm himself, was brought to Mackay Base Hospital in north Queensland, Australia, two months ago.

Pascal Gelperowicz, who led the man’s treatment with Todd Fraser, said the man was unconscious when he arrived and was treated immediately with pharmaceutical-grade alcohol, which works as an antidote to the poison.

The hospital’s alcohol supplies were soon exhausted, however, so they purchased a case of vodka to help finish the job. “We … decided the next best way to get alcohol into the man’s system was by feeding him spirits through a naso-gastric tube,” Gelperowicz said.

The man was fed about three standard drinks an hour for three days while in intensive care. The patient has made a full recovery.

The doctors built upon the work of Dr. Homer J. Simpson, obvously.
