Criminal aliens may be forced to further criminalize

This is rich!  From the NYT:

Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s retreat from his plan to permit illegal immigrants to obtain the same kind of driver’s licenses as other New Yorkers drew angry reactions yesterday from civil liberties advocates and immigrant groups, some of whom described the shift as a stunning betrayal. 

In other words, Spitzer has betrayed…criminals!  Oh, the inhumanity!  But check out this nugget:

…The separate licenses could also serve as an invitation for law enforcement to arrest anyone carrying one on immigration charges, said Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. She added that the new proposal could send illegal immigrants further into the shadows, compelling them to drive with forged or no licenses and without insurance. 

Got that?  People who have already broken the law to get here will be forced to further break the law to remain here.  Naturally, that would be our fault, right?  I don’t see why they would hesitate to forge licenses, when they already use stolen/forged Social Security cards.  Then again, I suppose that’s also our fault.

Do these morons even listen to themselves when they talk?

  2. They already ARE driving without licenses (or they’re getting their friends at the DMV to give them licenses). That’s why so many Americans are dying on the road! Dare anyone “profile” when it could save lives? No… sure would hate to offend anyone… In fact, lets just let in Mexican big-rigs (carrying who knows what) without inspection!

    Since when has not having a license or insurance stopped an illegal from getting behind the wheel and running stop signs and stop lights, making turns where not allowed, driving the wrong way on a one way street?

  4. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more upside-down in our country, a liberal like Gov. Spitzer proves me wrong. Legitimizing illegal aliens with drivers licenses is the height of stupidity. It gives them the ability to go anywhere and do anything in America, including vote.

    Maybe that’s why a Democrat is pushing for it.

    Sad to say, more and more liberals keep proving Michael Savage right: liberalism is a mental disorder.

    The only way I’d agree to a program like this is if it were a sting operation resulting in police rounding up any illegals who show up for their handout and placing them on a one-way plane to Oaxaca.
