Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Amnesty…or intifada!

A writer for the Miami Herald penned thusly:

The rapid escalation of the U.S. anti-immigration hysteria — fueled by ratings-hungry cable-television hotheads and leading Republican presidential hopefuls — is a dangerous trend: It may lead to a Hispanic intifada that may rock this nation in the not-so-distant future.

Remember the Palestinian intifada of the early 1990s, when thousands of frustrated young Palestinians took to the streets and threw stones at Israeli troops? Remember the French intifada of the summer of 2005, in which disenfranchised Muslim youths burned cars and stores in the suburbs of Paris?

If we are not careful, we may see something similar coming from the estimated 13 million undocumented immigrants (illegal aliens – Ed.) in the United States, most of them Hispanic, who are increasingly vilified in the media, forced further into the underground by spineless politicians and not given any chance to legalize their status by a pusillanimous U.S. Congress.

Translation: amnesty now, or we’ll get all Palestinian on your #ss.

Intifada: just another job that Americans won’t do.

  1. A great argument…for why we need to secure our borders and send all the cutters back to the end of the line. If they do RIOT then we’ll deal with that. It’s a lot easier to justify deporting lawless rioters then it is lawless gardeners.

    Also, all the riots mentioned above were carried out by young Muslims, coincidence?

  2. Maybe it’s just me, but I have to think that Americans are getting sick and tired of all the blah-blah on this “issue”. I have to think most Americans don’t find the “issue” as complex as many moonbats would like us to think it is.

    In short, I don’t know of any “ratings-hungry cable-television hotheads” or “leading Republican presidential hopefuls” vilifying Hispanics because they are Hispanic. The “issue” is simple: we have immigration laws in place and they are being broken to the tune of about thirteen million times. Should we excuse breaking the law simply because so many are doing it? If so, then we might also consider swift pardons and reimbursment of fines to all persons charged and convicted of marijuana-related crimes.

    As reported in this article, “According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report released last week, nearly 830,000 people were arrested in the U.S. for marijuana-related incidents, the highest recorded total in the country’s history. Of those arrests, nearly 90 percent were for possession.”

    That’s just last year. The article continues to explain how most of the people arrested are between the ages of 17 and 25, and the number of arrests have been steady for many years. So, does it make sense that we, as a society, are creating a criminal-class of our youth today (to the tune of more than three-quarters of a million per year) for smoking or possessing a plant while we are simultaneously and seriously discussing a free-pass for thirteen million people who essentially committed breaking and entering at our nation’s borders?

    I think not.
