Crush Liberalism

Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Ron Paul wooing Truthers…again

He’s still a magnet for anti-Semites, Troofers, and various other nutbar miscreants.  Yet another example, from LGF:

Crazy uncle Ron Paul has gotten an almost complete pass from the mainstream media for his associations with 9/11 Troofers and other crackpots of almost every stripe, so why shouldn’t he continue going on the radio show of raving lunatic Alex Jones? Ron Paul Courts 9-11 Troofers on Alex Jones Show…Again.

Just don’t insinuate that Paul himself is crazy, despite him not distancing himself from these bat$hit crazy cretins.  If you think somehow this is a reflection on Paul, his small-yet-loyal band of Kool Aid chuggers will get madder than Hillary at a Marine Corps ball.

David Gregory lies about Libby going to jail

It sure is a good thing that the MSM has multiple layers of fact-checking at their disposal, lest they be perilously close to inaccuracies (willful or otherwise).  From Newsbusters:

NBC News White House correspondent David Gregory, accused of being a partisan, made a false statement about the “Scooter” Libby case. In reporting former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s charge that the Bush administration fed false information, Gregory claimed Libby “went to jail for obstructing the leak investigation.”

Although Libby was sentenced to 30 months of prison, Libby never actually went to jail as Gregory claims. President Bush commuted Libby’s sentence, eliminating the prison term yet still upholding a hefty fine and probation.

There is a track record of sloppiness and of bias that Gregory possesses, so it’s hard to say which one is happening here.

Nope…no liberal media bias!

UPDATE: Wounded Soldier: Military Wants Part Of Bonus Back

UPDATE AT BOTTOM.

This is absolutely disgraceful, and it cannot be allowed to stand!  From Will Amos:

The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments. To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.

Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing and can no longer serve are being ordered to pay some of that money back.

One of them is Jordan Fox, a young soldier from the South Hills.

He finds solace in the hundreds of boxes he loads onto a truck in Carnegie. In each box is a care package that will be sent to a man or woman serving in Iraq.

It was in his name Operation Pittsburgh Pride was started.

Fox was seriously injured when a roadside bomb blew up his vehicle. He was knocked unconscious. His back was injured and lost all vision in his right eye.

A few months later Fox was sent home. His injuries prohibited him from fulfilling three months of his commitment. A few days ago, he received a letter from the military demanding nearly $3,000 of his signing bonus back.

“I tried to do my best and serve my country. I was unfortunately hurt in the process. Now they’re telling me they want their money back,” he explained.

It’s a slap for Fox’s mother, Susan Wardezak, who met with President Bush in Pittsburgh last May. He thanked her for starting Operation Pittsburgh Pride which has sent approximately 4,000 care packages.

He then sent her a letter expressing his concern over her son’s injuries, so she cannot understand the U.S. Government’s apparent lack of concern over injuries to countless U.S. Soldiers and demands that they return their bonuses.

While he’s unsure of his future, Fox says he’s unwavering in his commitment to his country.

“I’d do it all over again cause I’m proud of the discipline I learned – proud I could so something for my country,” he said.

But Fox feels like he’s already given enough. He’ll never be able to pursue his dream of being a police officer because of his wounds and he can’t believe he’s being asked to return part of his $10,000 signing bonus.

KDKA contacted Congressman Jason Altmire on his behalf. He says he has proposed a bill that would guarantee soldiers receive full benefit of bonuses.

I don’t know whose idea it was to try and collect money from wounded soldiers, but I hope they get the public shaming they deserve.  Collecting from people who willingly abandon their military commitment is perfectly acceptable, but collecting from people who, as a result of combat into which they were ordered, can no longer serve is absolutely disgusting! I fully support Democrat Congressman Jason Altmire’s bill to stop this shameful process dead in its tracks.

UPDATE (11/21/2007 – 6:41 p.m. EST): The Pentagon is reversing course and doing damage control.

Quote of the day

Lisa Schiffren on why we on the right should be thankful for the San Francisco Treat, Nancy Pelosi:

She makes our job easier by being ineffectual in pursuit of policy, and a caricature (of an overprivileged twit who is in over her head).

I will admit that, for a moment there last year I thought she might be as savvy a politician as she is a clothes shopper.

Ouch!

San Fransicko to issue ID cards without gender identified

Only in San Franistan:

Next year, San Francisco will issue municipal identification cards showing the usual name, birthdate and photo.

What the card won’t include: gender.

When other cities considered issuing ID cards without regard to legal status, the debate was over illegal immigrants. In San Francisco, where the Board of Supervisors approved such an ID on Tuesday, transgender activists added gender to the discussion.

“Transgender” is a broad term for people who do not identify with their birth sex. Those who refer to themselves as transgender include cross-dressers and transsexuals.

“The card really makes gender a non-issue,” says Kristina Wertz, legal director of the Transgender Law Center in San Francisco. …

Here’s an intemperate and highly politically incorrect observation: your gender is determined by how you are born.  Born with twig-and-berries?  You’re male.  Born with a vertical smile?  You’re female.  Period.  Sorry if you’re arrogant enough to believe that God screwed up.

If you want to dress in the opposite sex’s clothes, be my guest.  Just don’t complain when I gawk at you.  If you want to shell out your own money to get your body’s plumbing re-routed, have at it.  But just because you have a doctor slice off your schlong and give you a bush doesn’t make you a female…it makes you a schlongless male with a bush.

Also, read that again: trannies are “people who do not identify with their birth sex.” In other words, they’re delusional and in denial. “Stop calling me a man! I’m not Carl…I am Carol!” Normally, if someone in our society is delusional like that, we give them meds. In San Fransicko, they give them ID cards.

I don’t know why, but I’m always amazed at just how much lower San Fransicko can sink every time they do something like this.

Satire alert: Thanksgiving causes global “warming”

You just know this is coming one day.  From The Daily Redundancy:

Study: Holiday Feasts Increase Global Warming
CAMBRIDGE, MA – A new study has linked the traditional feasts associated with Thanksgiving and Christmas to increases in planetary temperatures. The report, to be released Wednesday, claims the additional energy required to fatten, slaughter, ship and roast tens of millions of turkeys causes a seasonal spike in greenhouse gasses. Scientists say the effects of these spikes could be devastating.

“Once the damage is done, it’s difficult to reverse the effects.” said Myron Finnister, professor of Climatic Endocrinology at Howyflyl University. “It’s much like the person doing the feasting, who can never seem to shed those extra pounds. And pretty soon, it’s time to feast all over again.”

The report cites that energy consumption typically increases during the months of November and December, the peak of the turkey production season. Energy use beyond December is mainly due to cold weather, according to the report. “Temperature increases of up to 0.2 degrees over the next 100 years can be directly attributable to this spike.” said Finnister.

Nutritionists and conservationists are quick to point out alternatives to the roast turkey dinner. “Vegetables, which are much lighter than turkeys and therefore more efficient to ship, are an excellent feast.” said Lindy Hellman-Jones, a dietary specialist at Newhall Clinic. “But if people must eat turkeys, which is pretty gross, there are steps they can take to save the planet. If everyone would turn their ovens down from 350 to 345, it would be like taking 1 million cars off the road.”

We’re laughing at the unholy alliance between global “warming” gullibles and the militant vegan treehuggers today, but tomorrow, they’ll be angrier than Osama with dried couscous stuck in his beard.

Government school suspends kids for anti-drug PSA

Government schools.  ‘Nuff said.  From KDKA:

Two students at Waynesburg Central High School have been suspended for 10 days because of the way they depicted an activity they were trying to discourage.

John DiBuono and his classmate made a public service announcement for a TV workshop. They used crushed Smarties candies. In the video, his friend pretended to snort cocaine. It was supposed to be a message against using drugs.

In a statement, the Jerome Bartley, superintendent of the Central Greene School District, said: “Although the individuals involved were not using illicit drugs, the district’s policy prohibits look-a-like drugs, substances, liquids or devices.”

It’s listed in the student handbook, but DiBuono’s father says the punishment doesn’t fit.

“I believe that the discipline is a bit excessive, and you know this was clearly an anti-drug statement,” he said.

In addition to the suspension, DiBuono, a 4.0 student, said he was told to attend drug counseling.

“The only words said in the entire public service announcement was, ‘Don’t do drugs,’ and now I’m being sent to rehabilitation conference,” he said. “I think it’s a little ridiculous.”

Sending kids to a rehab conference and drug counseling because they…um…don’t do drugs is friggin’ genius, Waynesburg.  “Don’t do drugs!  Wait, you don’t do drugs?  OK, well, uh, still don’t do drugs, m’kay?”  What a generation of future leaders your hallowed halls are churning out, huh?

Abscam Jack: You can’t support the war unless you get a tax hike

Being the porker (in more ways than one) that Abscam Jack is, he’d love some more of your tax money.  According to the Defeatocrat, it’s your patriotic duty to pay taxes through the nose.  From the Washington Times:

This week, around our Thanksgiving tables, there will be two families: One who say they support the troops, and they do, but they have sacrificed very little. They haven’t had their taxes raised, they haven’t been drafted, and they don’t really participate in the war.

Got that?  If you support the troops, the taxes you currently pay couldn’t possibly be high enough.  I gotta admit that while the “chickenhawk” argument is completely vacuous, this just may actually trump that argument as the most illogical argument yet.

Also, Jack, there is actually a third family you failed to mention: families like yours that do not support the troops and do everything they can to undermine their morale and their mission.  Fortunately, you’re going to get yours in the form of a defamation lawsuit.  Eat up, Porky.

Supreme Court will decide on DC handgun ban

The U.S. Supreme Court is going to hear the case of whether or not D.C.’s ban on possession of handguns is constitutional.  The U.S. Court Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that the ban was unconstitutional (in violation of the Second Amendment), so D.C. appealed.

Here are a couple of predictions:

1.  The Court will reverse the Court of Appeals’ ruling, 5-4.  All four liberals, plus Kennedy, will side with D.C.  The liberal argument will be that the Second Amendment is not an individual right (despite the annoying fact that every single one of the remaining Bill of Rights mysteriously is).  Kennedy’s “moderate” argument will be one of the following:

  • if there were a total ban on guns (i.e. hunting rifles), then the ban would be unconstitutional, but since there isn’t such a complete ban, there’s no problem with the current ban.
  • the Second Amendment addresses state militias, and since D.C. is not a state, then the Second Amendment doesn’t apply to D.C.  Don’t laugh, since this “D.C. isn’t a state” argument is used a lot (see no representation in Congress).

2.  The Court will uphold the Court of Appeals’ ruling, 5-4.  All four liberals will dissent, and Kennedy will say that gun control is fine and dandy, but not gun control as broad as D.C.’s gun ban.

One side note: D.C. said the purpose of the handgun ban is because “handguns have no legitimate use in the purely urban environment of the District of Columbia.”  Are they saying that hunting rifles do have a legit use in the urban D.C.?  “Excuse me, Senator, but I see a 12-point buck crossing Pennsylvania Avenue.  Could you hand me my .30-06?”  You D.C. morons are gonna have to do better than that.

UN propagated AIDS alarmism by inflating number of cases

Corruption at the United Nations is about as new as Moses’ robe (for those of you on the left, Moses was a high-profile dude in the Bible).  But this is just shameful:

After releasing new figures showing that the global AIDS epidemic is smaller than it previously reported, the United Nations’ AIDS-fighting agency denied yesterday that it had inflated estimates for years in an alarmist effort to raise funds.

Having lost two friends to AIDS in the 1990′s, I do not trivialize the seriousness of the disease or the impact it has on family and friends left behind. However, “cooking the books” in order to obtain funding could have an adverse impact on efforts to combat the disease, because it can lead to a “boy who cried wolf” situation.

Exit question that you can probably see coming from a mile away: if the UN wildly inflated the number of HIV cases in order to obtain funding for research, is it unreasonable to think the same thing is happening with that junk science fad known as global “warming”?
