During a campaign swing for his wife, former President Bill Clinton said flatly yesterday that he opposed the war in Iraq “from the beginning” — a statement that is more absolute than his comments before the invasion in March 2003.

Bubba then (2004):

That’s why I supported the Iraq thing. There was a lot of stuff unaccounted for. So I thought the President had an absolute responsibility to go to the U.N. and say, “Look, guys, after 9/11, you have got to demand that Saddam Hussein lets us finish the inspection process.” You couldn’t responsibly ignore [the possibility that] a tyrant had these stocks. I never really thought he’d [use them]. What I was far more worried about was that he’d sell this stuff or give it away. Same thing I’ve always been worried about North Korea’s nuclear and missile capacity. I don’t expect North Korea to bomb South Korea, because they know it would be the end of their country. But if you can’t feed yourself, the temptation to sell this stuff is overwhelming. So that’s why I thought Bush did the right thing to go back. When you’re the President, and your country has just been through what we had, you want everything to be accounted for.

I mean, that he’s a liar is clearly not a surprise to anyone.  But you figure the dude would come up with a system of being a little more organized so he can better remember his lies and avoid public humiliation like this.

  2. He doesn’t intend to keep his lies straight. He is simply amoral. He believes that his followers will believe whatever he says, therefore, whatever he says is always true when he says it. If it differs from something in the past–no biggie–it was true when he said it. Hillary is the same way–just no good at it because of her shrill voice and huge hips. Okay–maybe just the voice.

  4. As I pointed out here, you must take note of the MSM complicity in this. The text you provided for Bubba now was from (of course) the New York Times. Note the verbiage:

    “a statement that is more absolute than his comments before”

    That article goes on to say:

    “Before the invasion, Mr. Clinton did not precisely declare that he opposed the war.”

    Considering his 2004 statement to Time Ragazine was, “That’s why I supported the Iraq thing”, one must ponder how this statement was both less “absolute” as well as “not precisely” opposition. The 2004 statement seems pretty clear to me.

    Nope, no media bias whatsoever.

    NYT went on further to cover their tracks in the kitty-litter:

    “Advisers to Mr. Clinton said yesterday that he did oppose the war, but that it would have been inappropriate at the time for him, a former president, to oppose – in a direct, full-throated manner – the sitting president’s military decision.”

    The easiest position of all: he was really against it from the beginning, but thought it would be “inappropriate” to say so.

    Yeeeeeeeeah…

    Like you said: yeeeeeeeeeah. Especially since he’s broken that “inappropriate” protocol on a number of occasions. As usual, the man’s lost track of all of his lies.
