Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Chavez referendum a “No”

Polls heading into the referendum showed a fairly sizeable lead among the “No” voters who didn’t want Venezuelan socialist tinpot dictator Hugo Chavez to expand his dictatorial powers, including a “me for life” clause.  When the actual votes were counted (and undoubtedly counted again and again), the margin was narrower: 51% voted “no”, and 49% voted “yes”.  Story here.

I’m thrilled the referendum failed, despite Chavistas’ attempts at vote fraud.  Time will tell if he’ll honor their wishes or not.  I’m not holding my breath.

  1. How much trouble are you in when you loose your fixed election?

  2. Where was Jimmah when Hugo needed him???

Hugo’s elected term won’t end until 2012. I would wager that between now and then, he will come up with plans to fix this little “setback”.
