Non-political: BCS title game (and other bowl games) set
For those of you who aren’t college football fans, feel free to ignore this post and move on to the next one.
Since the major division of college football can’t do the right thing and have a playoff like every other division of every other sport has, they concoct this monster called the “BCS”. Well, you can’t spell “BCS” without “BS”, now can you? Anywho, the BCS national championship game will be Ohio State (11-1) vs. Louisiana State (11-2).
While I do think the right two teams are in the title game, I think it’s a travesty that since we don’t have a playoff, hot teams like Georgia (10-2), Southern Cal (10-2), and Oklahoma (10-2), each of whom make compelling cases as to why they should get a shot, are left out in the cold. Let’s not forget the lone undefeated program in college football in Hawaii (12-0), and the only other one-loss team in Kansas (11-1). Instead, all of those other teams are bound for other BCS bowls, and the runner-up in the Big 12 conference (Missouri), who was ranked #1 just two days ago, is not even going to a BCS bowl game.
We need a playoff, period. Whether it be a four-team, six-team, or eight-team playoff, it can and should be done. We have a complete mess this year, and I for one am happy to see it implode like this.

Im sorry but I would rather have tradition than a national champ. I want to see Pac10 Big 10 in the rose bowl, SEC in the Sugar, Big 8/12 vs SWC(now SEC west) in the Cotton bowl. Orange should be ACC vs Big east. Hawaii, and Kansas deserve a big time bowl game, Fiesta at least this year. Rutgers deserved one last year. The Div II should hold their champ game as a Christmas or New years day bowl game (maybe the old Bluebonnet).

Ohio State for one has 51 days between their last game and their next one. There has GOT to be time in there for a playoff!!!

Any play-off will include the SAME EXACT WHINING. Whether it’s 4, 6, 8, or more teams, you’ll still have teams rightfully bitching that they should be in the play-off. Even with an 8 team play-off this year, Hawaii would STILL be left out in the cold.
On a slightly loosely related note, can we quit this freakin’ NCAA PC-ish crap with “The Bowl Subdivision” and the “Championship Subdivision?” IT’S DIV. I-A AND DIV. I-AA!!! I don’t care what the pantie-wastes in the NCAA want to try to call it. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone competing for a I-AA school have a problem with being I-AA. It’s only the limp-dicked PC’ers in the NCAA. Screw them!
Thank you for listening. I think it’s time for my happy pills.

Manic, considering how this season went for our beloved Seminoles, could you please send me some of those happy pills?

Settle it on the field. I’d rather argue over who is the #16 seed than who is #1,2 or 3. Play-offs work in every sport and in every division in the NCAA and NAIA except Division 1.
