Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Welcome, C|Net News readers!

While perusing my blog stats, I noticed that my blog was referenced in an article on C|Net News.  Good news, Murph: so was your comment:-)

Specifically, if I read correctly, the author (Michelle Meyers) subscribes to the junk science fad known as global “warming”; however, the author seems to be a little annoyed with all of the new things being attributed to said junk science fad…if for no other reason than it gives people like me more reason to reject global “warming” outright.  I do not wish to mischaracterize Ms. Meyers’ views, so if she or any of her readers wish to correct me on this, please feel free to do so.

At any rate, I thank the author for the link, regardless of whether or not she meant to drive traffic my way.

  1. “I do not wish to mischaracterize Ms. Meyers’ views, so if she or any of her readers wish to correct me on this, please feel free to do so.”

No, you were pretty well right. Ms. Myers is another Greener that admits in her article that she drank the Kool-Aid of Politician Gore and obviously feels guilty for not “doing more.”. However, the article reveals that there is still a little light in her noggin because she is essentially asking, “might the green-extremists have gone too far?” Ya think?

As with any article on this subject, the real entertainment is in the comments, and there are a few good ones here. MacHeads’ “Green is Still Good” response shows a moment of clarity: “…But I see a certain anti-humanism bias emerging from the out of control ‘greenery’ and this my fellow human being, worries me a WHOLE damn LOT.” See? Even the greeners are getting a little worried.

It’s bad enough that they blame divorced families for global warming, but it appears this “green hannukiah” foolishness is turning out to be a possible illegal-immigrant-drivers-license / Obama-in-kindergarten moment for the green-freaks. If you go to the original Jerusalem Post article about this issue you will find (at this point, 175) comments. It is heart-warming to see nearly 100% rejection of the concept.

I am not jewish, but I am Yahwist and observe Hannukah because of its historical and eschatological significance. Liberal jews have turned Hanukkah into a feel-good Festival of Lights and downplayed its violent and miraculous origin. They focus on the rabbinical myth of the oil lasting 8 days instead of the handful of Judeans that drove out the massive Hellenistic occupation and restored the Temple. Sadly, there will never be a 300-like movie to depict that battle.

The jewish people have observed sabbath for about 3,000 years, and to this day observant jews don’t light any fires, smoke, or drive on the sabbath. They have also planted innumerable trees, made a desert bloom into the middle east’s only democracy, and contribute substantially to environmental projects. If you were to think in terms of the green-freaks, they should be given infinite carbon credits.

It may be Jewish Yule today but long ago it was Judean Independence Day, and that independent streak showed itself again when some eco-nuts suggested lighting one less candle for a hallowed tradition dedicated to an “old god” in order to show respect for their “new god” mother earth. The green hannukiah idea was a stupid move for the environmentalist wackos. One could only hope these new Hellenists will be chased out again.

  2. Dammit Jon, how do you get all these cool little mentions?

Oh well, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy (besides me, of course). X-D

  3. Red Stater, thank you for your comment and the history lesson. I’ll admit that I didn’t know much about the origin of Hannukah, but I did know that the “Green Hannukah” thing was stupid.

Ed, I’m not sure how these fine folks like Slate, CBS News, USA Today, and C|Net News find me, but it sure is cool! :)

  4. I have no problem with a little bit of being “green”. There is nothing wrong with recycling and trying to cut down on oil consumption. To me its more for ecenomic reasons than ecological though. But this crap of the regular people should be walking around in the cold and dark so the “elites” can go flying around in their private jets, living in 6000 sq ft houses and multi-vehicle entourages spreading the BULLSHIT of man made global warmng is BULLSHIT.
