Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Non-political post of the day

Check this out:

A northeastern Ohio high school senior who sent an e-mail to the Church of Satan threatening to kill his grandparents was taken out of school this week and remains in police custody, police said.

Andrew Culver, 18, told police the e-mail, detailing his intention to kill his grandparents and steal their money and car, was a joke, said Bazetta Township police Chief Charles Sayers.

According to police, Culver wrote he had access to an arsenal of weapons and wanted to “kill in the name of our unholy lord Satan.”

Culver sent the message on Wednesday to Peter Gilmore, the high priest of the New York City-based Church of Satan, Sayers said. Gilmore then alerted the FBI, which notified local police. Culver was taken out of class on Thursday and questioned by police, Sayers said.

“To send an e-mail making specific threats, to sign your name, that to me is not a joke,” Sayers said.

Gilmore said his church discards most of the hundreds of e-mails it receives a day. But Culver’s message stood out, he said.

“I thought it could be a joke, but with recent events in Colorado and Nebraska, I thought it was better to play it safe,” he said.

Culver, who lives with his grandparents north of Youngstown in Bazetta Township, had an argument with his family this week and left home for a couple days before returning Wednesday, Sayers said.

Messages seeking comment were left at the Culver’s home and with the Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center, where Culver is being held.

Charges will be discussed at a scheduled hearing on Monday, Sayers said.

I wonder why the head Satanist dude alerted the cops.  I mean, one would think the kid was just doing what the Satanists would approve of, right?  Geez, what kind of evil servant of the Dark Master is this Gilmore schmuck, getting the kid locked up before he could inflict pain and violence in Lucifer’s name?

Colorado government almost killed more church shooting victims

Harsh conclusion?  You tell me:

Jeanne Assam, the heroine of the New Life Church shooting in Colorado Springs, would likely have been unable to carry the Beretta that she stopped the shooting with if she had been a licensed security guard.

An AP article published on 12 December noted that licensed security guards in Colorado Springs are restricted to the use of revolvers.

As Jeanne Assam was a volunteer parishioner who was performing security guard duties because the church did not want to hire “mercenaries”, she was almost certainly not affected by the regulations, which only apply to government regulated security guards.

Fortunately, her lack of official status with the state and city allowed her to carry a firearm with sufficient firepower to accomplish the necessary task.

Jeannette had to fire 10 rounds to keep her fellow parishoners safe.

Got that?  Security guards in Colorado, per state law, (a) must be regulated by the state; and (b) cannot carry handguns like Jeanne Assam was carrying that fateful day.  However, by the grace of God, Jeanne was acting as a volunteer and private citizen that day, and as such, was able to neutralize any further threat from the gunman.  Had she been a government-approved security guard, more people would have died in that shooting.

“Religion of peace” and its skewed priorities

Recall the story of the murder of Canadian Muslim teenager Aqsa Parvez, slaughtered by her own father for her refusal to wear an Islamic garb.  What seems to be the concern of the Muslim community?  This is:

El-Sayyed said Islam teaches that women have the right to choose whether or not they want to wear the hijab.

But the Muslim leaders admitted a child who didn’t wear the hijab could bring shame to a family, and the parents could be viewed as failures in the community.

Nice.  “Shame to the family” isn’t brought about by murder.  Nope, shame is brought about because that little parasitic whore wouldn’t wear a friggin’ scarf.  I mean, if the dad wasn’t allowed to smite the impudent little harlot, just what was he supposed to do, right?  The bloodthirsty camelhumper has a reputation, and if it means wasting his own flesh and blood so as not to appear soft in his fellow weirdbeards’ eyes, then so be it.

MSM plays another round of “Guess That Party!”

The Kansas Attorney General of unknown party affiliation resigned in disgrace.  The original story had no mention of the dude’s party whatsoever, which can only mean one thing: he’s a Democrat:

Attorney General Paul Morrison will resign next month, he announced this afternoon.

Standing outside his office, Morrison said the scandal that began Sunday led many to stop believing in him. He said he was resigning, effective Jan. 31, to preserve the public confidence in the office of attorney general.

Calls for Morrison’s resignation built this week after news of his two-year affair with a former employee surfaced, along with allegations that he harassed the woman and tried to use her to meddle in the Johnson County District Attorney’s office, now headed by Phill Kline.

Upon a reader’s examination, the author disingenuously tries to cover up his agenda by feigning ignorance:

I called David Klepper [the KC Star reporter who wrote this story], identifying myself and the radio station [where he works], followed by an inquiry as to Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison’s party affiliation.

He paused and I could hear papers shuffling in the background as if he were LOOKING IT UP.

After the pause, he replied, “He is…a Democrat.”

I thanked him and hung up.

So yeah.

Had the reporter not done it before, he might have had a plausible excuse.  But eventually, after nearly a full day, the story gets corrected:

Update: Fun fun. They added the party affiliation. A reader emailed them.

Dear David,

I think you mean that, unlike the original, the EDITED version of story mentions his party affiliation in the fourth paragraph….you know, the one that was RE-POSTED at 6:28 pm Dec 14.

Unfair of me to believe a political reporter for the KC Star would bring a political bias to a news report. I apologize.

Happy Winter Solstice Festival.

Mike

I bet the reporter remembers to get that party affiliation in there on the first draft next time. Eh, who am I kidding?

Nope…no liberal media bias!

Huckabee sold DWI clemency for campaign cash?

What is it about former Arkansas governors selling clemencies/pardons for party loyalists?  Check out the most recent revelation on the Huckster:

Questions are being raised about then-Gov. Huckabee’s 2004 decision to grant clemency to a repeat Driving While Intoxicated offender in Arkansas named Eugene Fields, despite the objections of a law enforcement official at the time. Documents obtained by NBC News reveal Fields’ case was handled differently from any other DWI clemency or pardon granted by Huckabee, and some Republicans are now suggesting significant political contributions may have influenced the governor’s decision.

In August 2001, Fields, of Van Buren, Ark., was convicted of his fourth DWI charge, a felony in the state of Arkansas, was sentenced to six years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Fields reported to prison in August of 2003.

But prison records obtained by NBC News show that six weeks into that six-year sentence, Fields’ application for clemency, a commutation of his sentence the governor could issue to grant Fields an early release from prison, was unanimously supported by the parole board. Within months, Huckabee issued his intent to grant executive clemency to Fields, who was released from prison soon thereafter.

On Fields’ application for a commutation of his sentence, four options are listed as possible reasons as to why the application was being made, including, “I wish to correct an injustice which may have occurred during trial,” and, “I want to adjust what may be considered an excessive sentence.” No boxes are checked on Fields’ application; instead “N/A” is written across the top of the sheet, for “Not Applicable.”

A review of campaign-finance records shows that Fields’s wife, Glenda, made two $5,000 contributions to the Arkansas Republican party — one on June 26, 2003 and another on July 14, 2003. Less than two months before Glenda Fields wrote the first of those checks, the Arkansas Court of Appeals denied Eugene Fields’s petition for rehearing his 2001 felony DWI conviction.

Political contributions weren’t the only donations made by the Fields family. Also contained in his application (along with a character reference from his Southern Baptist pastor) were copies of thank-you notes and tax receipts for financial contributions from charitable causes and organizations he’d supported: The Salvation Army, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the First Baptist Church of Van Buren’s “Women’s Mission Ministry.” The scope of his charitable donations, which began around the time of his second DWI conviction, expanded as his DWI rap sheet grew.

Did I mention how I’m not going to vote for this guy, ever?

Hilldawg’s quote of the day

While Her Highness was campaigning in Iowa (via S&L):

Standing atop a stage in a livestock auction barn, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton likened the experience to her quest to woo undecided voters in the closing days before Iowa’s pivotal caucuses.

“I’ve been to cattle barns before and sales before, in Arkansas, but I’ve never felt like I was the one that was being bid on,” Clinton told a crowd in western Iowa. “I know you’re going to inspect me. You can look inside my mouth if you want. I hope by the end of my time with you I can make the case for my candidacy and to ask you to consider caucusing for me.”

Oh. Hellllllllll. No!

Bubba’s prez library got $10 million from Saudis

Next time you hear some moonbat going on about how the Bush family is beholden to Saudi money, let them in on this little secret: their beloved Bubba’s hands are no cleaner.  From the Washington comPost:

Bill Clinton’s presidential library raised more than 10 percent of the cost of its $165 million facility from foreign sources, with the most generous overseas donation coming from Saudi Arabia, according to interviews yesterday.

The royal family of Saudi Arabia gave the Clinton facility in Little Rock about $10 million, roughly the same amount it gave toward the presidential library of George H.W. Bush, according to people directly familiar with the contributions.

The presidential campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) has for months faced questions about the source of the money for her husband’s presidential library. During a September debate, moderator Tim Russert asked the senator whether her husband would release a donor list. Clinton said she was sure her husband would “be happy to consider that,” though the former president later declined to provide a list of donors.

I suppose that Bubba’s in bed with the Saudis, too, right? Note to self: henceforth, refrain from making references to “Bubba in bed with” someone. That shiite is just way too easy.
