The game that apparently never goes out of style has a new episode, this time in the form of a perverted judge “of unknown party affiliation”!  From Newsbusters:

Last year’s most bizarre and famously icky sex scandal was, of course, Senator Larry Craig’s airport bathroom incident, in which the Idaho Republican was alleged to have been soliciting homosexual sex from an undercover cop. Suffice it to say no one who came across the story could walk away without knowing Craig’s party affiliation, and in some cases his record as a conservative with some libertarian-friendly stances.

So how did the Associated Press’s Bill Poovey treat a former Democratic Tennessee judge with an arguably nastier, kinkier, more disturbing sexual predilection? Not one mention of John B. Hagler’s Democratic Party affiliation in Poovey’s 23-paragraph January 2 story, even though the judge’s sex fantasy recording sure spooked at least one veteran police officer. …

Nope…no liberal media bias!

Educrat wants Big Government to save him from himself

A pointy-headed pseudo-intellectual college professor likes his carbon-spewing power tools and Hummers, and a carbon tax isn’t enough to stop him.  His solution?  Predictably, he wants the imperial federal government to ban these products so he won’t be tempted to use them.  From the Washington comPost:

UPS delivered my hedge trimmer a few weeks ago. Actually, it is not just a hedge trimmer but has interchangeable heads so that it can trim grass, mow down brush and cut small tree limbs. The whole thing was a steal: $359. As I powered it up, I felt mild pangs of guilt — the two-cycle contraption uses a mixture of oil and gas to cool the engine as well as fuel it, which makes it not just copiously smelly but also a behemoth when it comes to producing carbon dioxide.

If you think that is bad, so do I — especially since I could have bought a slightly more expensive four-cycle model that does not require mixing the oil and gas. And I know better. But my knowledge did not translate into action. I knew I was doing wrong. I even agonized about doing wrong. But it did not stop me….

On and on it goes. I spend most of my waking hours worrying about how to reduce my output of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Yet my behavior seems to march to a different drummer. I need to get the best deal. For me, not the world. When it comes to what counts as the best deal, my values don’t get incorporated into the calculation. I am attuned only to price. And I don’t think I am alone in this.

But there is another problem. I like Hummers. Not the really big Hummer I, but the more demure Hummer II. I like its boxy design and its commanding presence on the road. I secretly desire to command the road. Here I am not irrational, just retrograde when it comes to my preferences. And if my preferences are strong enough and my wallet is large enough, no tax is going to make me give up my Hummer for a Prius.

I am not alone in loving Hummers. An effective tax will have to take into account all variety of Hummer lovers, the strength of their preferences and the size of their wallets.

I say: Better not to tempt me in the first place. Take the Hummers away. Don’t clutter my world with things I should not have. Don’t dangle them in front of me, creating desire, only to then try to have me renounce them. Just ban the damn two-cycle hedge trimmer and let me be done with the matter. 

Yep, one’s willpower (or lack thereof) is apparently the federal government’s responsibility.  Sometimes, moonbattery just leaves me speechless.

NYT editorial: Stop IA and NH primaries because they’re too white

Ever the champion of democracy, the Old Gray Hag says that the IA caucus and NH primary shouldn’t be allowed to exist, since they’re way too caucasian.  Observe:

… Watching the campaign in cold, snowy and mostly empty Iowa, we were hoping for something else — that this year’s Iowa-New Hampshire rush to judgment will be the last.

Keeping this race alive so significant numbers of Americans in more populated states can participate would begin to make up for the ludicrous spectacle of the past year, which enriched the television networks and the political consultants (some $300 million already spent) far more than it enriched the political dialogue. We hope both parties will wake up and end the undemocratic system in which the choice of a new president rests far too heavily on nonbinding votes in January by voters that don’t necessarily represent the rest of the country.

We don’t question the enthusiasm or the commitment of the people of Iowa and New Hampshire. But Iowa, where a huge turnout amounts to less than 10 percent of the population, is about 92 percent white, more rural and older than the rest of the nation. New Hampshire has a non-Hispanic white population of about 95 percent. … 

Quips Michelle Malkin:

Yes, white, rural, elderly voters turned out in droves for black candidate Obama and rejected white, union-backed hacks Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.

This must be stopped! 

Diversity at the expense of democracy?  Friggin’ brilliant.  As if the Hag weren’t done with her moonbattery, she threw in a little ignorance of how our system of government works:

…None of this has led us to a choice in the nominating contests, never mind for the presidency. The majority of Americans are in the same position. That’s why they should be allowed to see and hear more of these candidates, and not have to settle for the judgments of the people of Iowa and New Hampshire.

I think they meant that no one should have to settle for Whitey’s judgment, right?

I don’t know how to break it to the geniuses (genii?) of the NYT, but no one is forced to settle with IA and NH’s choice!  See, all states in the union get to have primaries, thus avoiding having to “settle” with early states’ picks.  In 2000, McCain won NH by about 19%, yet lost the very next state (SC) by 11%.  He won some, and he lost some.  That’s kinda how that whole complicated “voting” thingy works, fishwrap.

Hawkeye cauci quick takes

The Hildebeast came in third, behind Obama and the Silky Pony.  Anytime a Clinton loses, especially a Marxist b#tch like Shrillary, that’s a good thing.  But she’s like Freddy Kreuger…she never dies, so don’t go to sleep.

Schmuckabee won, Romney came in second, Thompson came in third, and McCain came in fourth.  Will the MSM now get off of McCain’s “surging momentum” jock?

Rudy was a blip on the radar screen, and looks to be that way in New Hampshire.  He’s going for broke in SC and FL.  I’ve only been following politics for about 15 years now, but can anyone tell me who has flamed in both IA and NH and lived to win the nomination?  Bush got killed in NH by Johnny Mac in 2000, but he had won IA before that and then SC right afterwards.

Doctor Kook Magnet (aka Ron Paul) came in fifth.  That’s what $20 million in a quarter buys you?  Master fundraiser Howard Dean raised crazy bucks in late ’03 for his ill-fated 2004 campaign, and he similarly flamed out.  Something about crazy people, money, and Iowa that just don’t mix.
