Bad, I had almost forgotten about that conversation. You're right, Hugo never answered the question. It's a simple question, really: do you believe it, yes or no? It's a shame he got all John Kerry on us like that!

The abortion argument always drums up lots of emotion. Take this exchange for example. Synopsis: a liberal proclaims that there shouldn’t even be an argument about it because, “Abortion is a distraction. Most Americans and Republicans are pro-choice. The only reason Republicans pols push it is because they are trying to rev up their conservative base.”

Of course, this most-declarative statement doesn’t take into account the fact that other opinions exist. The author of this site took that liberal to task in the comments section (of which there were many) and, to no surprise, the liberal completely avoided it. It prompted me to revisit the subject. Jonathan had a great point:

“If you genuinely believe that abortion is NOT the murdering of babies, then your position is believable. However, we don’t want to put words in your mouth, so please say it for yourself if you truly believe it: ‘I do not think that abortion is the killing of innocent life. I do not believe that babies are killed during an abortion.’ Go ahead, say it.”

Take a wild guess at whether or not the liberal was able to say it. As usual when debating lock-step liberals, the argument gets out of hand and off the topic quickly. That’s when the insults usually start flying and no points can be made or understood.
