Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

LAT fears the Second Amendment might receive (gasp!) “same standing as First Amendment”!

Oh, the horror! The headline says it all.  From Say Anything:

Do Some Constitutional Amendments Have More Rights Than Others?

Apparently it is so according to this headline from the LA Times:

2008-03-17-latguns.jpgCall me crazy, but I thought our “inalienable rights” all had the same standing.

In order to believe that the Second Amendment is not an individual right, you would have to believe that every single one of the other Bill of Rights amendments are all individual rights (or are limits on the federal government’s power) except for the second one from the top. That, my friends, is highly illogical…which is why the LAT subscribes to that belief.

Nope…no liberal media bias!

  1. Sad that for these people the 2nd Amendment being part of the constitution, listed above a lot of other “rights,” is not enough to give it the “same standing” as the first amendment.

But, it’s the Times, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

  2. You’re absolutely right.

I only hope the Supreme Court can see the plain-as-day logic and not allow the anti-gun mentality to rule the day. It’s the second amendment in the Bill of Rights, it has the same standing already.

And as has been said before, without the Second Amendment, the rest of the Bill of Rights could easily be taken away. The Founding Fathers knew this. Hopefully the majority on the SCOTUS do, too.

  3. It is already illegal for anybody in DC to have guns….
Wasn’t it last year that the ass’t mayor of DC robbed at gunpoint?
I’ll bet those dastardly criminals didn’t know it was illegal though or they couldn’t have done it. Right?
Yep let’s make some more stupid laws that don’t apply to criminals.

  4. I guess the “enlightened” folks at the LAT feel that the Founders listed the Amendments in order of importance. If so, that puts the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, Fifteenth, and Nineteenth near the bottom. Heck, let’s just do away with the Twenty-second and Twenty-fourth, seeing as they are almost irrelevant based on their order.

    Sheesh!!

  5. Y’all are missing the point, AND forgetting that ALL amendments are arbitray in applicability and importance to leftards. For example, since when have they EVER consider the right to speak all words equal? Think not? Try getting Al Franken to condemn a speech by David Dukes that you’ve simply interchanged “black” and “white” and told that it was delivered by Louis Farrakhan. Or, conversely, get Pelosi to say a speech by Farrakhan is acceptable with the same mod and say it was delivered by Dukes.

    Ain’t gonna happen.

Better yet, try to get a lib to promote a Christian anything, decry Islam radicals as violent, or require a simple proof of your identity to cast a ballot in your name.
