Crush Liberalism

Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Blue cannibalism

No, not the kind of cannibalism that Hanoi Ted was yammering about, but this kind:

How Did We Reach The Point Where Air America Calls Hillary a ‘Whore’?

Randi Rhodes called Hillary a ‘[bad word]ing whore.’

In and of itself, it’s shocking, but it’s otherworldly when we think about what Hillary Clinton has meant to liberals for most of the past sixteen years.

Maybe Bill Richardson owes James Carville money, because that would help explain the bitter jihad the former Clinton strategist seems to be on, so relentlessly decrying the New Mexico Governor as “Judas” that Richardson stopped doing media appearances. It didn’t take much for Obama-backing General McPeak to declare Bill Clinton the equivalent of Joe McCarthy. And if you’ve read any Hillary vs. Obama thread on a liberal blog lately, you know that there have been friendlier back-and-forth exchanges in snakepits.

There’s something vaguely reassuring about all this, from the view of sitting on the right. It reveals to conservatives that the nastiness exhibited in our earlier disagreements with these folks was never personal; these people are clearly nasty to anyone who disagrees with them. Geraldine Ferraro’s long service to the Democratic party means nothing to many Obama backers; she’s a racist, “David Duke in drag,” as Rhodes put it. I’m sure Senator Patrick Leahy thought his decades of work on the left side of the aisle had bought him some street cred from feminists, but no, he was called sexist when he called on Hillary to leave the race.

Hillary gets called a “monster” by Obama’s surrogates; Hillary’s surrogates wonder out loud if Obama ever sold drugs. Today Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell speculates that Americans know only half the story of Barack Obama. Day in, day out, in this race it continues.

Is there nastiness on the right? Sure. But it’s hard to imagine somebody being the equivalent hero to the right the way Hillary was a hero to the left, so suddenly and severely pitched overboard – no, that’s not it, denounced and demonized — when somebody else came along.

Last night I said to Cam, “I like our base.” The right had a vocal, mostly policy-oriented fight earlier this year, and tempers did flare. But bit by bit, week by week, those on the right are either making their peace with McCain. And in some cases, some righties aren’t; but you rarely if ever hear them calling McCain a “[badword]ing whore” on the airwaves. By and large, a sense of decency and respect permeates conversations on this side of the aisle. There are exceptions, obviously, but the GOP race (thankfully) never turned into this bile-strewn mess.

They may be the stupid party, but they’re also the decent party.

Those of us on the right have been used to this kind of discourse from the left for a couple of decades or so.  But I’m giddier than Jim McGreevy at a Village People reunion on Fire Island now that the masters of mudslinging are slumming in the sewers to take out each other.

Rockefeller: Fighter pilots are like war criminals

But hey…they “support the troops”, right?  From Hot Air:

Wow. Just wow:

In the Charleston Gazette Sunday, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-WV, who has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said that Sen. John McCain “has a temper” and, according to the story, “believes McCain has become insensitive to many human issues.

“McCain was a fighter pilot, who dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet. He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground? He doesn’t know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues.”

If this sounds familiar to you, it should; it’s basically what the North Vietnamese said about McCain while they tortured him in the POW camps. It indicts everyone in the Air Force and the Navy whose job it is to fire laser-guided missiles now in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. Rockefeller also sounds an awful lot like Barack Obama, who claimed that the entire strategy in Afghanistan consisted of “just air raiding villages and killing civilians”.

Besides, fighter pilots don’t drop a lot of bombs; they protect bombers. They generally engage other aircraft and most of their targets are air-to-air.

So, note to our pilots and aviators: you obviously have anger issues if you enlisted in the Air Force or Navy. Senator Rockefeller and his fellow Democrats apparently believe that you hate humanity as evidenced by volunteering to conduct air campaigns against America’s enemies. In fact, Senator Rockefeller (D-WV) comes close to considering you war criminals. Of course, this would be much more offensive if Rockefeller had a single foggy clue as to what a fighter pilot actually does.

Oh, and one more note to Rockefeller: Laser-guided missiles and bombs actually reduce collateral civilian casualties. Just thought you should know.

Addendum: What was Rockefeller’s stance on Bill Clinton’s Bosnian intervention, which consisted solely of Air Force strikes?

Update: Added the Navy, which was McCain’s branch, after all … Also, Michael Goldfarb reminds Rockefeller that McCain got shot down on a low-level attack that was designed to minimize collateral casualties.

Rockefeller has since apologized, but all he did was say what most Democrats are already thinking…they just have the political good sense to keep that kind of crap to themselves.

Carter to meet with Hamas

This will further boost his anti-Semitic credentials. From FNC:

Former President Jimmy Carter is reportedly preparing an unprecedented meeting with the leader of Hamas, an organization that the U.S. government considers one of the leading terrorist threats in the world.

The Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat reported Tuesday that Carter was planning a trip to Syria for mid-April, during which he would meet with Khaled Meshal, the exiled head of the Palestinian terror group Hamas, on April 18.

Deanna Congileo, Carter’s press secretary, confirmed in an e-mail to FOXNews.com that Carter will be in the Mideast in April. Pressed for comment, Congileo did not deny that the former president is considering visiting Meshal.

Exit observation: Jimmah endorsed Barry O last week, and since Barry O has an anti-Semitic military adviser prone to Zionist conspiracy theories, this is the last thing that Osamabama needed.
