Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Poll: Obama plummets in PA

You folks know how I view polls with great skepticism.  But if this one is accurate, perhaps his now-20% deficit in a state that had been narrowing is due to rural Dem Pennsylvanians being perturbed that the Obamessiah looks down his nose at their culture?

Pass…the…popcorn!

  1. PA is the wrong place to make anti-redneck comments.

  3. latest Quinnipiac poll only has him down 6% – Pennsylvania was always marked in HIllary’s corner with big expectations (double digits) so if it is anything less than that, it’s the beginning of the end for her. I don’t think his comments 1) are in any way, shape or form how you describe them in post above and 2) really concern the people who live in PA – it is the blowhards on the news shows and pundits who are up in arms and analyzing this to death. I think the voters would rather focus on the issues rather than choice of words.

  4. latest Quinnipiac poll only has him down 6%

Rasmussen has the Hilldawg’s lead at 9%. More tellingly, 56% of Americans don’t share Barry O’s haughty views of small-town America. Of those that do agree with Obama’s condescending views, 46% of liberals (a plurality). Results here.

Look, it’s like I said, Jen: I view polls (all of them, including the ones I reference) with great skepticism…even Rasumussen, who normally comes the closest in getting it right. You may be right in that the fallout may be minimal. My point was that “IF the poll is accurate” (and we won’t know until next week’s primaries), his gaffe will have largely contributed to it.

Jen, I know liberals: they ARE condescending, they DO look down their noses at rural Americans, they DO mock their commitment to God and guns, and they DO see rural Americans as a bunch of uneducated bigoted rubes. That’s who liberals are: snooty, elitist, self-important pompous windbags. Rasmussen’s poll results (46% of liberals agree), if accurate, confirm this.

All Barry O did was say what libs believe, and he did it in front of a San Franistan audience that was receptive to it. If you watch or listen to the clip, you’ll hear the denizens of San Franfreakshow giggle with delight as he besmirches normal America. That plus the Rasmussen results are your proof…not that I expect proof to change your mind.

Yes, voters will focus on issues. But they focus a lot better when they’re not being insulted.

  5. did you watch the 2004 charlie rose interview with barack? he says the same thing with different words. the underlying point wasn’t looking down on these people – in san francisco he was asked why he wasn’t doing better in PA. if you really listen to his words and the whole context of what he was saying, he says people are bitter because of government not dealing with the issues that affect their jobs, healthcare, etc., always overlooking them, so they rely on the traditions that have laid the foundation to their beliefs – religion, hunting, etc. i honestly don’t think he was being elitist – he just paid off his law school loans – for clinton and mccain to claim obama is out of touch and they aren’t is so laughable.

no one can focus on issues when every news article or leadoff of cable news shows is about “bitter gate” – how ridiculous. like these people have any idea what real people are thinking? they are projecting their own ideals onto them – brit hume’s all-stars were the worst last night. i bet the first 50% of the debate between hillary and barack tomorrow night will be about this and not have any substantial questions at all.

no, you will not change my mind. i just want all this ridiculous bickering to be over so we can focus on general election. i can’t wait to watch mccain on hardball tonight in front of a college crowd – i have no idea what he can do or talk about that will get young people excited and energized.

Did you flunk English 101 at Penn State? Are you still stuck on what the meaning of the word “is” is? Yes, I heard the whole thing. He said that people were were “clinging” to God, guns, racism, xenophobia, etc., because of economic distress and frustration. Who care WHY they were “clinging” to those things, Jen?? He says they ARE clinging to those things! “Hey, I know why you’re a gun-toting Bible-thumping bigoted redneck…you just lost your job!” Wow…now THAT is inspiring!

i honestly don’t think he was being elitist – he just paid off his law school loans

Wow…that non sequitir just caught me WAY off guard! I thought you could do better than THAT.

for clinton and mccain to claim obama is out of touch and they aren’t is so laughable

I don’t disagree on that. If you read my original post a few days ago, I noted that the only thing funnier than Barry O’s comments was the Hilldawg’s retort. Pots and kettles.

But you’re saying that Clinton and McCain ARE out of touch, but Obama isn’t? Obama went to an elite private school in Hawaii as a child, graduated from Columbia (undergrad) and from Harvard Law, and that’s not elite…but McCain, born unto a military family of modest means and serving in the military himself (enduring torture for 6+ years), obviously IS much more elitist? Got it. Thanks for the clarification.

no, you will not change my mind.

I didn’t expect to. You’ve got your talking points, you’ve got your messiah candidate, and by God (insert non-rubes’ preferred deity here), you’re not going to let a little thing like mounting evidence get in the way. Fortunately, I had no expectations that your mind would be changed, thus you haven’t let me down.

i can’t wait to watch mccain on hardball tonight in front of a college crowd – i have no idea what he can do or talk about that will get young people excited and energized.

I have an idea: he could condescend to rural American voters like Obama did. That’d get those little snot-nosed leftist “gimme generation” pinkos excited!

a girl is going to win biggest loser, i can feel it

I agree. I think that chick in the pink is going to win it.

  8. I won’t pay off my law school loans until about five years after I die… when am I allowed to be an elitist?
