Hillary dismisses Declaration of Independence
The same woman who told us in San Fransicko in Marxist fashion that “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good” gave us this nugget (hat tip QandO):
“We can talk all we want about freedom and opportunity, about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but what does all that mean to a mother or father who can’t take a sick child to the doctor?” she asked.
Yeah, really…just who in the hell did this Thomas Jefferson guy think he was?
There is so much that is wrong with that statement that it could be dissected for days (and feel free to do it in the comments, if you so choose). My two main takeaways are this: (1) She’s saying that the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence are apparently passé; and (2) ignoring the reality that ER’s can’t turn away anyone and thus you can take your sick child to the doctor (or that doctors can and do set up payment plans for the indigent), she’s saying that those passé principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness can and should be traded in for government health care. And the left, paranoid over the things like the Patriot Act and FISA searches, accuse us on the right of trading freedom for security?
Fortunately, this woman will never see the inside of the Oval Office again.

Aren’t “progressives” always ranting about McBushitlerburton and his non-existent statement about the Contitution being a “goddamned piece of paper”?
Hmmm…
Comment by Henry | April 27, 2008
The new Marxists like Hillary and Obama want us to sign up for a “Declaration of Utter Dependence” upon the guvment.
Comment by PabloD | April 27, 2008
This is not supprising that Hillary is so dismissive of the Declaration of Independence. Dem’s have claimed for years the Constitution is a “Living Breathing, Evolving Doccument” so they can push and impament policies and programs that have NO constitutional basis. Why should they accept the ideals that founded our country 225 years ago? Heck, that was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Why should they not just use as the Declaration as TP, it has no governmental authority at all.
Better yet, Like Palosi and the Bible, why doesn’t Hillary next make up Quotes of the Declaration that don’t exist. I can see her Quoting incorrectly, “We hold some truths to be evident to us that some people are more equal than others, that they are endowed by themselves to make all decisons for the rest on how people should live their lives, what liberties people really have and what defines happiness. It is to these ends govennments are created…”

Referring to the Constitution as a “living, breathing” document is akin to referring to the Berlin Wall as a discrete territorial divider. If the whole thing can be changed, you might as well chuck it in the garbage … oh, excuse me Greenies … chuck it in the recycle bin.

Apparently only certain parts of the Constitution are living and breathing, like whether we should control our borders or not. The parts about presidential authority in times of war is binding until the end of the universe, or until Hillary gets sworn in.
