Gallup: Obama trails Hillary

Operation Chaos marches on!  From Gallup:

Hillary Clinton has edged ahead of Barack Obama, 49% to 45%, in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update.

Obama has had a rough few weeks in the campaign, with his widely publicized remarks about “bitter” voters, Clinton’s decisive win in the crucial Pennsylvania primary, and renewed media attention to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the controversial former pastor of Obama’s church, with Wright speaking out publicly this past week. Obama has also come under criticism from both Clinton and John McCain for opposing a proposal to suspend the federal gasoline tax during the summer months. As a result, Obama has moved from a consistent lead over Clinton to a deficit. Obama has just a few days to reverse the tide going into next Tuesday’s Indiana and North Carolina primaries.

I love it!

Non-political post of the day

A three-year-old wins a “best mullet” contest.  Such a redneck-like contest is not in Arkansas or Georgia or anywhere like that.  Nope, in Minnesota!

Those parents must be proud!  And yes, that was sarcasm.

Obama dumps bigoted preacher advisor for…another bigoted preacher advisor

But we’re supposed to trust Barry O’s judgment, right?  From Michelle Malkin:

You’ll recall the name Michael Pfleger. He’s, you know, the white Jeremiah Wright.

Now, it appears the radical, hate-preaching Pfleger is playing therapist and go-between for newly-divorced couple Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright.

Seriously.

You almost can’t parody this mess.

But Iowahawk can and does so again brilliantly with “Advice for the Lovelorn.”

Can this campaign be saved?

The MSM will try its level best to save it.  Time will tell if they’re successful.

Exit question: Is Obama even capable of being close to anyone who isn’t nuttier than a sphilitic Kos kiddie off his meds?

Global “warming” to take a decade-long hiatus

Absofreakinglutely hilarious!  From Bloomberg:

Average temperatures in areas such as California and France may drop over the next 10 years, influenced by colder flows in the North Atlantic, said a report today by the institution based in Kiel, Germany. Temperatures worldwide may stabilize in the period.

The study was based on sea-surface temperatures of currents that move heat around the world, and vary from decade to decade. This regional cooling effect may temporarily neutralize the long- term warming phenomenon caused by heat-trapping greenhouse gases building up around the earth, said Richard Wood, a research scientist at the Met Office Hadley Centre, a U.K. provider of environmental and weather-related services…

“If we don’t experience warming over the next 10 years, it doesn’t mean that greenhouse-gas warming is not with us,” [Noel] Keenlyside said in an interview. “There can be natural fluctuations that may mask climate change in the short term.”…

“Natural variations over the next 10 years might be heading in the cold direction,” Wood said. “If you run the model long enough, eventually global warming will win.”…

“We thought a lot about the way to present this because we don’t want it to be turned around in the wrong way,” Keenlyside said. “I hope it doesn’t become a message of Exxon Mobil and other skeptics.”  (Too late, pal. I’m all over this like Barney Frank at a Vaseline clearance sale!- Ed.)

Just so I can ensure that I’m understanding this correctly:

1.  Though mankind is supposedly frying the planet by doing what we’re doing, this frying will stop for a decade while we…um, keep doing what we’re doing?  If I have a pot of boiling water on the stove and I don’t drop the temperature on the burner, are you telling me the water will begin to cool?  Fascinating.

2.  “There can be natural fluctuations that may mask climate change”, huh?  Is it that far-fetched, then, to logically infer that there can be natural fluctuations in the climate?  You know, cycles in climate that have jack squat to do with mankind?  If there can be natural fluctuations in conditions to “mask climate change”, then by logical extension, there can be natural fluctuations IN climate changes!

3.  This is based on computer models.  So if you’re one of those global “warming” Chicken Littles, you are in quite te predicament: either accept that computer models can be fatally flawed, which they are, and this shoots to hell your Armageddon scenarios; or maintain that computer models are right, in which case your views that mankind is baking the atmosphere is destroyed with this report.  So, which is it?

Obama trailing in NC?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m skeptical of polls.  A couple of days before the PA primary, a poll showed Hillary beating Barry O by 20%, which we all knew was inflated.  But other polls showed Obama within 5% of Her Highness in PA.  As it turned out, she won PA by about 10%.

The big states remaining are NC and IN.  Polls have shown Hillary with a slight lead (within the margin of error) in IN, but the Obamessiah has kept a steady double-digit (15-20%) lead in NC all along and as recently as a couple of weeks ago.  However, a new poll by Insider Advantage shows Her Highness has surged in NC and now leads by 2% (within the margin of error, of course).

If true (a big “if”), this Rev. Wrong…er, Wright…thing has done some big-time damage to Osamabama.  What’s telling is that in PA, Her Highness only won 8% of the black vote; however, in this poll, she has more than doubled that share in NC since the Wright flap redux.

If she wins IN and does the unthinkable by winning NC, how does that change the dynamics of this race?  She still can’t catch him in the delegate count, but do the superdelegates begin reconsidering Her Highness at the convention?  If so, the black vote will be seriously diminished in November.  If not, the Hildebeast’s supporters will likely sit out this election.

Pass…the…buttered…popcorn!

About that “recession”

Economic growth is anemic and inflation is rising.  There are economic problems, no questions about that.  But a recession?  Not exactly:

The bruised economy limped through the first quarter, growing at just a 0.6 percent pace as housing and credit problems forced people and businesses alike to hunker down.

The country’s economic growth during January through March was the same as in the final three months of last year, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday. The statistic did not meet what economists consider the classic definition of a recession, which is a retraction of the economy. This means that although the economy is stuck in a rut, it is still managing to grow, even if modestly.

Many analysts were predicting that the gross domestic product (GDP) would weaken a bit more—to a pace of just 0.5 percent—in the first quarter. Earlier this year, some economists thought the economy would actually lurch into reverse during the opening quarter. Now, they say they believe that will likely happen during the current April-to-June period.

“The economy is weak but not collapsing,” said Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Bank of America’s Investment Strategies Group. “A recession can’t be ruled out, although the stars are not lined up at this point to definitively say one way or the other.”  …

I’m not going to pretend that the economy is hunky dory, but I can’t stand it when the MSM resorts to sensationalism (even lying) to make a point.
