GA conserves water, and is rewarded with…higher water taxes!
Only in the pea-brained world of government does this make any sense. From Georgia:
Fulton to increase water rates 15 percent
Fulton County officials praised county water users Wednesday for their success at conservation — then socked them with a 15 percent rate increase for their effort.
The conservation penalty the County Commission adopted Wednesday 6-0 matches the increase Atlanta utility officials asked to impose earlier this year but which the City Council so far has resisted. The average water/sewer bill should increase nearly $9 per month to a total of about $68 per month, water officials said.
Why raise rates on water? Well, because the conservation has cut revenues:
Utility managers said water use has dropped by as much as 30 percent since last year when Gov. Sonny Perdue asked each county to cut usage by at least 10 percent because of the lingering drought. That has Fulton facing potential default on its bonds, said Angela Parker, public works director.
“We just can’t swallow this reduction in revenues,” Parker said.
She said Fulton one day might roll back the rates if the drought ends and revenues return to pre-drought levels.
Riiight.
This is Fulton county doing this. Apparently the city of Atlanta is trying to do the same thing but has been blocked so far.
No good deed goes unpunished, right?
Every single time, the government will expect you, not them, to do more with less.
10-year-old raped & impregnated by criminal alien?
If society hadn’t officially gone to Hell in a handbasket, this should do the trick. From Idaho:
A man has been charged with raping a 10-year-old girl who later gave birth in eastern Idaho.
The girl gave birth less than two weeks ago by caesarian section at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Fremont County Sheriff Ralph C. Davis and other authorities said. Officials would not disclose the gender, date of birth or paternity of the baby.
“I wouldn’t have believed a 10-year-old could conceive in the first place,” Davis said.
Buried down a bit further is this:
Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez, 37, of St. Anthony, was arrested the same day, Police Chief James Smith said.
“We had good information from witnesses,” Smith said.
In documents that were filed April 29 in 7th District Court and obtained by The Associated Press, Gutierrez-Juarez is charged with one count of rape. He remained in jail with bail set at $250,000 pending a preliminary hearing May 13.
Authorities said Gutierrez-Juarez did not have legal documentation to live in the United States. His home town and nationality were not immediately clear, but police said they had received no complaints about him before investigating the pregnancy.
If this is true, then I’d like to hear a certain D.C. amnesty shill tell me how my outrage at this makes me a “quacking” bigot. If dude is guilty of boinking this girl, then it is irrefutable that had this country implemented stronger border controls, this S.O.B. wouldn’t have been here to steal this little girl’s innocence. Then again, the aforementioned D.C. amnesty shill and her ilk might have been inconvenienced by slightly more expensive strawberries. I mean, what good is a child’s youth if it means you gotta pay another seventy cents at Whole Foods, right?
Code Pinkos put hex on Marines?
We all knew that the Code Pinkos were b#tches, but apparently, they’re also witches. Or so they think. From Stop the ACLU:
…The loony left get loonier just when you were starting to think that was impossible. Know (sic) they are resorting to casting spells on the evil warmonger Marines they have been protesting. Did everyone one in this little club get dropped on their head at some point?
Just as we thought that we couldn’t take them any less seriously, they prove us wrong!
