Obama wants higher gas prices
You know, the ones he b#tches about? I guess his beef is that they’re not high enough. Details here, with the money quote from Ed Morrissey:
I think we need some clarification from the Democrats on this issue. Barbara Boxer claimed last week that the Democrats wanted to “address” high gasoline prices. Did they want to make sure they rose even further?
TX government school: Teachers with criminal records at your school is nobody’s business
From Austin, TX:
AISD is fighting a ruling that makes them give out statistical information on how many teachers have a criminal history.
The Attorney General has told the district they have to comply with open records requests to give the information to the media. The district is arguing that releasing information of how many people on each campus came back with a criminal record violates employees’ privacy rights and is not in the public interest.
News Radio 590 KLBJ’s Carol Nelson reports several media outlets, including News Radio 590-KLBJ, have requested the information from AISD.
Got that? If there’s a teacher at your local school who has a criminal record, the government school bureaucracy in Austin doesn’t think it’s “in the public interest” to know. I don’t know that there is really anything for me to add to that, is there?
Quote of the day
Say Anything asks the question “Should Congress continue to fund National Public Radio?” A likely Democrat respondent displays the stunning economic ignorance that we’ve come to expect from the left:
Congress should continue paying for it because if they don’t, the taxpayers will end up paying for it.
Wow…just “wow”!
Obama’s sheer arrogance
From Barry O’s nomination-clinching speech:
I am absolutely certain that generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick. This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.
Wow! I had no idea that churches, charities, hospitals, and even Medicare and Medicaid didn’t exist until the Obamessiah was nominated! And who knew that he was capable of lifting his Savior hand and causing the oceans to recede and the planet “to heal”? But yeah, this whole “Obama as messiah” thingy is a figment of right-wing imagination, right?
Obama: OK, people who made money off of Countrywide aren’t THAT bad
Maybe the H in Barry O’s middle name isn’t for “Hussein”, but “Hypocrite”? From FNC:
Barack Obama is getting an early taste of how the verbal fireworks and talking points from his bitter primary battle against Hillary Clinton could be turned against him as he enters the general election race.
The Illinois senator is taking flak for an adviser’s ties to a controversial lender, and to hold Obama’s feet to the fire, John McCain’s campaign is citing the Obama team’s own words from the primary.
The adviser in question is Jim Johnson, who is heading up Obama’s three-person running-mate search team.
McCain called it a “contradiction” for Obama to be associated with Johnson after The Wall Street Journal reported that Johnson received favorable loan terms from Countrywide Financial Corp., a sub-prime lending company Obama has criticized.
…
The McCain campaign also dug up statements made by Obama strategist David Axelrod in which he criticized Clinton for having a connection to Countrywide. In the statements to MSNBC, made after Clinton strategist Mark Penn stepped down in early April, Axelrod said: “She’s stuck with (Penn) through the revelation that his firm was working for Blackwater and working for Countrywide, and … so it’s kind of stunning.”
McCain spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker told FOX News the statement reflects the “hypocrisy” inside the Obama campaign.
…
The Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend that Johnson received more than $7 million in loans from Countrywide Financial Corp. The Journal reported Johnson received at least two loans at below-market rates as a result of a relationship he had with the company’s CEO Angelo Mozilo. The Journal reported there was nothing apparently illegal about the loan terms. But the ties came under fire since Obama has criticized Countrywide on the stump. The company’s top executives were accused in March of exacerbating the home mortgage crisis.
Obama said at the time in a statement, “We should be reprimanding them, not rewarding them. Rewarding their bad behavior just encourages others to pursue the same kinds of irresponsible practices that led us into this financial mess in the first place.” …
And in a bit of Clintonesque word-parsing:
“I would have to hire the vetter to vet the vetters,” he said, adding that those search team members are unpaid volunteers. “These aren’t folks who are working for me.”
The McCain campaign scoffed at that assessment.
“Of course Jim Johnson works for him,” said Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO now serving as McCain’s liaison to the Republican National Committee. “Barack Obama understands full well that in presidential politics, any associate — but particularly one who is working directly for the candidate — is going to be scrutinized.”
Lemme guess: “This isn’t the Jim Johnson I know!” Dude is helping Osamabama pick a VP, but hey, that’s not REALLY working for him, is it?
The Obamessiah is no different than any other lib: advocating one set of standards while living by another.
