The oil speculators must be stopped, since those slimebags are primarily responsible for jacking up the cost of oil through lies and deception.  That said, the chart is pretty much dead-on accurate.

  1. Id even be willing to raise it a bit from that 2.06 level to fund VIABLE alt energy sources like solar, wind, and nuke. And maybe some better storage technology (batteries) since the clouds come in, night falls and the wind calms.

  2. The government does NOT need to fund research into alternate energy sources/methods. That would take decades. Let the private market work on alternate sources and it would take a few years. Private enterprise FTW!

    But the government can encourage the development of Alt. fuels and technologies by undoing the red tape and giving tax credits to the developers. By doing that it may even move the industry a head faster than if left to ones own devices.
