Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

BBC: Elections in America could result in arrest of bloggers

The Beeb has an article about bloggers around the world who get arrested for reporting human rights abuses and criticizing tyrannical and oppressive governments.  For those of you on the left, the American government is not considered tyrannical or oppressive.  Article here.

It’s certainly a newsworthy story.  But the Beeb being the Beeb (i.e. transparently and unashamedly liberal in its reporting), the last sentence had to throw in this gem:

…The report predicted that the number of blogger arrests in 2008 would exceed the 36 seen in 2007 thanks to greater popularity of blogging as a medium, greater enforcement of net restrictions, and elections in China, Pakistan, Iran and the US.

If I had a dime for every time we arrested a blogger in this country for criticizing the government (or politicians), I would…uh…not have a dime.  But of course, the Beeb displays the broken “moral equivalence” meter to which we’ve become accustomed.

The Beeb’s article references a report from World Information Access that indicates three bloggers have been arrested in the U.S.  How’s about a little insight, whatsay?

  • Daniel Aljughaifi. Trained with al Qaeda. Nuff said.
  • Jack McClellan. Self-proclaimed pedophile. Attracted to, photographing, and posting pictures of little girls. (Sidebar: had he posted pictures of Cambodian boys, he could have gotten elected Senator from Virginia. Them’s the breaks).  Violated restraining order.
  • Josh Wolf.  Refused to submit evidence he possessed to a grand jury in a criminal investigation.

Not a single one of those vermin were arrested for being critical of the U.S., the administration, a politician, or whatever.  They were arrested for training with the terrorist organization that attacked us on 9/11/2001, for possessing kiddie p0rn and violating a restraining order, and for ignoring a grand jury subpoena.  But leave it to the Beeb to equate that with the Burma blogger round-up.  Idiots.

  1. The only way I could see American bloggers being arrested is if Ballsack gets elected and several call for armed inserection against him/it.

  2. I think I’m starting to see more of this crap every election. I’ve heard many kool-aid drinkers swear up and down that if Conservatives take control of the White House or Congress that they’ll be mass arrests, prison camps, and an end to free speech.

Funny thing is, I’ve never seen or heard a Conservative (other than ultra-wackjobs that are in no-way part of any mainstream), who has ever even remotely hinted that this is something they’d ever consider. The only ones I’ve heard REPEATEDLY either hint it or basically come right out and say they wanted to forcibly shut people up is…THE LEFT!

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard someone from the left, from top politicians to the garden variety home-town barking moonbat, say that Fox News should be shut down, Conservative bloggers should be thrown off the ‘net, and Conservative radio talk show hosts should be jailed, and on and on and on. How many times recently have we heard calls for those who (gasp) dare to question “Global Warming”, (er…uh…”Climate Change”…ummm…whatever the hell they’ll call it next when their caught making crap up), to be drummed out of their jobs and and be run out of town on a rail?

How many Communist revolutions have said they stood for the “voice of the people,” but once the people fight to put them into power, the first thing they do is silence the voice of the people? There is no room for differing opinion or beliefs on the left. You are either for them or against them. If you are against them, you are lower than pond scum and deserve any jailing, censorship, or even death that is visited upon you by the “enlightened left.”

These little scare tactics by the left remind me of some that I heard ALL THE TIME before Bush was first elected. I heard from MANY black friends, co-workers, and associates that they had “heard” that if this Bush character got into office, that all blacks would be rounded up and put back into slavery. Yessiree Bob! Bush (who was also supposedly a high muckety-muck in the KKK), was going to arrest all blacks and send them back to the plantations. This I heard from college professors, professionals, college graduates, high school graduates, high school drop-outs, and well, basically from blacks from every type of economic and educational back round.

Hmm. We’re counting down the last year of Bush’s 8 in office. I wonder if he has something incredibly dastardly up his sleeve for the next 6 months, or if all the people that parroted that story to me were just blind kool-aid drinkers. Methinks the latter.

  4. I can envision our host being arrested for blasphemy, should the Obamessiah ascend to the presidency. If he gets lucky, maybe he’ll be sharing a cell with Michelle Malkin (I mean, if ya gotta go to prison, she wouldn’t make a half-bad cellie)

  5. Pablo, I’d halfway consider the Big House if I get to bunk with Malkin!
