Obama skips visits to military bases…in order to visit throng of thrilled European fans

But hey, Senator Arugula “supports the troops”, right?  From Germany:

++ Visit to US Military Bases Cancelled ++

1:42 p.m.: SPIEGEL ONLINE has learned that Obama has cancelled a planned short visit to the Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases in the southwest German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The visits were planned for Friday. “Barack Obama will not be coming to us,” a spokesperson for the US military hospital in Landstuhl announced. “I don’t know why.” Shortly before the same spokeswoman had announced a planned visit by Obama.

Landstuhl houses wounded American soldiers, among other patients.  Barry O loves the troops so gosh darn much that…he can’t even pay a little face time to the wounded.  Nice.

Notes Ed Morrissey:

The message here is that thousands of screaming German fans at the Tiergarten take precedence over visiting Americans serving their country at Rammstein and Landstuhl.  Maybe one of the networks following Obama could interview a few of the soldiers about how they perceive that set of priorities from Obama.

Ed notes that though the French are not as enthused about the Obamessiah’s visit as the Krauts are, Barry O still feels like gracing Gay Paree with his presence…thus showing that even the Frogs get priority over our soldiers!

  1. I smell photo op as International Diplomat instead of a weak ass photo op as possible Commander-in-Chief. And The MSM will lick it up like a kitten with butter milk.

  2. Its not just the photo op issue; Barack Hussein is a sitting US Senator & therefore should have gone to these military bases to visit the many wounded troops there. Duh. He still represents ONLY the people of Illinois. I bet there are injured soldiers there from Illinois.

  3. It’s stunts like this that may get the Clintons back into the White House after all. BHO has been annointed but yet confirmed as the dem nominee. The convention may find the superdelegates changing their vote as this moron shows more of his shallow self and starts losing points in the polls.
    That’s just my conspiracy theory for today.

  7. Not entirely true, jen. He could have indeed visited the troops, and indications are that they were expecting him. However, once he found out that while visits were OK, photo-ops weren’t allowed, he decided to go visit the Frogs instead.

  10. I guess he’s upset because the wounded soldiers wouldn’t be able to escape having their picture taken with him and he thought it was a sure thing. Didn’t see many pictures of Osama with the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan did we? Perhaps because they see him for what he is and they don’t like it!

    And I’m sick of the press portraying the photo op in Germany as “thousands of screaming fans” showing up to see Obama. They were there for a rock concert….not for the Obomination!
