I agree we need representatives that are loyal to America and it’s citizens first, not their party. If that happens, civility will return.

I hope you’re right, but I’m afraid the days of civility in government are gone….at least until we dislodge all the current members of Congress and get some new blood….preferably that are NOT lawyers..

Pelosi is the first woman, to achieve this post in our government and there is something to say for that, regardless of her politics.

I agree, and I also agree when I said originally, “Of course Gore goes several miles too far in his argument which shows the same derangement as many insane dictators.” I was trying not to break Godwin’s rule. The increased demand in the market for greener goods and the increase in conservation and recycling have been in part due to Gores rhetoric. Should we all heed the Goricle and go back to living the pastoral life of the preindustrial age? I think not. And most sane people understand this and agree. As for the role of Government vs. the Market in this issue it should be settled by the ballot box and the register tape.

Since the founding of our country, the role of the Federal Government in the lives of it’s citizens has been a constant too and fro. We can go back to the Federalists of Adams and Hamilton vs. Democratic Republicans of Jefferson and Madison. This Argument can continue through Jackson and his Democrats vs. Quincy Adams and his National Republicans to the Election of 1860, into this century with both Roosevelts, LBJ, and Reagan. One can call one Anarchist, the other Socialists. The country and it’s government is changing and has to constantly change in order to reflect the needs of the citizens and to ensure the rights granted to the citizens by the Constitution remain in tact. It’s this effort to serve the citizens and protect the Constitution that patriotism comes from.
I agree we don’t often see it on the National level as much as we used to any more because like I said, “To often the media and the parties look at elections and politics as a sport, not as a means by which to protect the basic rights of Americans stated within the Constitution.” The last time I can remember a D.C. where compromise was successful was the early days of Bush 41. But after the 1st Gulf War when Bush 41 lost and the Clintons took over and then the Republicans took Congress, there has been to much name calling and hatred and not enough compromise. However on a local level and on state levels much has come through compromise. And I forget the scholar or foreign leader who said it but I paraphrrase, the one great skill Americans have is its ability to compromise and not be rigid. Much needs to change in D.C. The atmosphere is toxic and serving only the extremists of both parties. I hope with McCain’s leadership and example as President we can get back to a more civil and bipartisan government.

Al Gore, he has inspired many Americans to live a cleaner more eco-conscious lives

Maybe it’s just me, but Algore and his gestapo tactics concerning the environment inspire me to drink out of styrofoam cups and use non-eco friendly lightbulbs! I truly believe most Republicans and Democrats in general are patriots converging upon the same point from two different directions on most issues, and when given the chance to compromise

Patriots don’t try to change the country into something it was never meant to be (SOCIALIST). In a perfect world it would be nice to think the two sides could compromise, but it seems to me the Republicans are always the ones who compromise. When was the last time you saw a Democrat compromise on an issue?

Pelosi is an inspiration for millions of Americans. I hope she inspires our daughters to feel that there is no glass ceiling anymore for the women of America. By becoming speaker, Pelosi negates he own argument that America is a sexist country bent on holding women down. (As for Pelosi’s policies, there is nothing there to inspire a worm let alone anyone)

The Right and Left need to STOP looking at each other as enemies bent on destroying the country. To often the media and the parties look at elections and politics as a sport, not as a means by which to protect the basic rights of Americans stated within the Constitution.

It is when extremists in both parties take over as my way or the highway, that the cutlery sets come out instead of olive branches and America, our rights and our Constitution are the ones who a betrayed. I hope and pray that McCain picks a decent running mate…otherwise, it’s going to hurt like hell to cast a vote for him…(although he’s still better than the Obomination any day!)

I would have preferred to see McCain use Obama’s own words and voice on energy and taxes to tarnish the Obama rock star image.

As for Ludacris, It took less than a day for the mad rapper to be thrown under the bus with Obama’s grandmother. The thing is, are we actually to believe the Obama campaign did not know about this Ludacris song and video before it came out? The Truth is the Obama campaign wants this song and it ideas it represents out there. The campaign just doesn’t want to take credit for it. So much for a new type of campaigning.
