McCain camp goes OFF on the NYT

This is an Awesomely McAwesome double with Awesome cheese, extra Awesome sauce, and an extra-large Awesome Soda!  From the NYO:

Where The New York Times sees an editorial scolding, the McCain campaign sees an opportunity.

At issue is an editorial, which appeared yesterday on The Times blog “The Board,” accusing the McCain campaign of “starting up the same sort of racially tinged attack on Mr. Obama that Republican operatives ran against Harold Ford.”

McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb just sent out this statement, attacking The Times as hysterically pro-Obama:

“If the shareholders of the New York Times ever wonder why the paper’s ad revenue is plummeting and its share price tanking, they need look no further than the hysterical reaction of the paper’s editors to any slight, real or imagined, against their preferred candidate. This campaign has never engaged in ‘racially tinged attacks,’ and the Obama campaign conceded as much yesterday in a statement clarifying that “Barack Obama in no way believes that the McCain campaign is using race as an issue.”

That the Times made this allegation in a blog post rather than running it on the editorial page indicates that they either knew the charge was bogus or they didn’t have the nerve to make their case in full view of the public. But in their new role as bloggers, the paper’s editors seem to have all the intelligence and reason of the average Daily Kos diarist sitting at home in his mother’s basement and ranting into the ether between games of dungeons and dragons. They also have about as much care for the facts–the “board” has already been forced to append a correction.”

Man, if dude would do stuff like that more often, it would be easier to get more than lukewarm to his campaign.  Spanking the NYT and moonbats all in one sitting is some dee-lish red meat!

Dictator “Pelosi’s politburo”

And the left has the unmitigated gall to call Bush a dictator?  Check out what Madame Speaker is doing (presumably to save the planet):

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats adjourned the House and turned off the lights and killed the microphones, but Republicans are still on the floor talking gas prices.

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leaders opposed the motion to adjourn the House, arguing that Pelosi’s refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy. They have refused to leave the floor after the adjournment motion passed at 11:23 a.m. and are busy bashing Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for leaving town for the August recess.

At one point, the lights went off in the House and the microphones were turned off in the chamber, meaning Republicans were talking in the dark. But as Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz..) was speaking, the lights went back on, and the microphones were turned on shortly afterward.

“This is the people’s House,” Rep, Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) said. “This is not Pelosi’s politiburo.”

But the Democraps weren’t done yet:

Democratic aides were furious at the GOP stunt, and reporters were kicked out of the Speaker’s Lobby, the space next to the House floor where they normally interview lawmakers. …

Update – The Capitol Police are now trying to kick reporters out of the press gallery above the floor, meaning we can’t watch the Republicans anymore. But Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) is now in the gallery talking to reporters, so the cops have held off for a minute. Clearly, Democrats don’t want Republicans getting any press for this episode. GOP leaders are trying to find other Republicans to rotate in for Blunt so reporters aren’t kicked out.

How’s this for a little fun, though?

Update 6 - Rep Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) just pretended to be a Democrat. He stood on the other side  of the chaber and listed all of the GOP bills that the Dems killed.

He then said “I am a Democrat and here is my energy plan” and he held up a picture of an old VW Bug with a sail attached to it. He paraded around he house floor with the sign while the crowd cheered.

Pardon the pun, but that’s very “bush league” of Pelosi.  So much for her promises in 2006 to promote civility, respect, and integrity.  If the GOP has a hair on their collective nutsacks, they will run with this incident, far and wide.  As Michelle Malkin puts it (in Obamock mode), “This is the change we’ve been waiting for, Beltway GOP.”

Treehugger: windmills cause global “warming”

If you ever need evidence that the environMENTALists are more governed by their anti-capitalist mentality than a genuine concern for the environment, look no further than this nugget from Kansas:

Windmills have dotted the Kansas countryside for well over a century.  But now a bigger, more powerful breed is sprouting up.  Steve Trent is concerned.

“There’s going to be people who make a lot of money off this and the rest of us are going to suffer,” Trent says.

That’s the first thing out of the environut’s mouth: someone’s going to profit.  His foremost concern is that a buck will be made by someone other than his worthless backside.  Continuing:

Trent lives next to a 100 turbine wind farm in Butler County.  These things are touted as good for the environment because they create power without creating air pollution.  But Trent says they harm the planet in other ways.

“There’s an environmental footprint that they make,” Trent says.

He says that footprint has stomped out the native prairie chickens which have disappeared.  He says it’s also destroyed the area’s natural beauty.  Now he’s wondering if that’s just the tip of the iceberg. …

Oh. My. Gaia.  I really don’t know what I can possibly add to that steaming pile of bovine loaf.

Obama: Big Oil will pay for stimulus checks

No, dumb#ss, they won’t.  This is another example of the stunning economic illiteracy that the left has.  Corporations do not technically “pay” taxes…they collect them.  They collect them from employees, shareholders, consumers, etc.  The cost of everything you buy has embedded taxes, which simply means that you are paying the taxes and the businesses are sending in the dollars to the government.

But get this:

Obama announced his plan for a windfall profits tax on oil companies on June 9 in Raleigh, N.C., as he launched a two-week economic tour after clinching the Democratic nomination.

Friday’s proposal says Obama “is proposing to offset the cost of his emergency energy rebates over the next five years by enacting a windfall profits tax on big oil companies.”

“Obama simply asks that big oil companies contribute a reasonable share of the windfall profits they receive from high oil prices over the next five years to pay for emergency assistance for families right now,” the campaign says.

Apparently, Barry O missed this:

Exxon Mobile, for example, reported a record profit of $11.68 billion this quarter.

While this is a lot of money, it’s nothing compared to what Exxon pays in taxes, more than $30 billion this quarter.

“This profit represents about 9 cents out of every dollar of sales. But the company pays 17 or 18 cents in taxes for every dollar it sells.”

“Big Oil” is sending in tax payments that are about 200% higher than profits, but in the eyes of the leftards, that’s not nearly a “reasonable share” enough.  How much longer do you leftards think you can tell the oil producers to “self-fornicate” before they up and leave the country for more business-friendly climes like the Middle East?

Carter tried that “windfall profits tax” thingy in 1980.  It failed miserably, much like his entire presidency.  When McCain says that his empty suit opponent is a Carter throwback, he’s 100% right.

Muslim group tries to stop Congress from seeing if funds are going to terror groups

Kudos to this Democrat for not letting a “religion of peace” interest group stop his work.  Details:

On Tuesday, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) demonstrated in front of the Office of Congressman Brad Sherman, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism and Nonproliferation. The demonstrators demanded the cancellation of a subcommittee hearing on whether American foreign aid is going to organizations affiliated with terrorists.

“This hearing will go on. We need to make sure that the State Department is not giving U.S. tax dollars to those on the other side in the war on terrorism,” said Sherman. “I know there are many in our community so desperate for peace that they want us to sweep under the rug the pro-terrorism positions of some groups. There are groups in the Islamic world truly dedicated to peace, but we should not blind ourselves to the fact that some are not.”

The day of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, MPAC executive Salam Al-Marayati created a furor when he stated on a Los Angeles radio program, “If we are going to look at suspects, we should look at groups that benefit the most from these kinds of incidents, and I think we should put the State of Israel on the suspect list…”[1]

Two brothers have played a critical role in leading MPAC. Maher Hathout is a senior adviser and one of the founders of MPAC, while his brother Hassan Hathout served as MPAC’s president.

In the “about the authors” section of his book, Hassan Hathout is described as “a close disciple of the late Hassan Al-Banna of Egypt,”[2] the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Maher Hathout has praised Hassan Al-Turabi as a reformist working for peace and justice for all.[3] Hassan Al-Turabi was head of the Sudan National Islamic Front (NIF) which the U.S. government condemned for supporting terrorism, and for launching a genocidal war in southern Sudan. Al-Turabi has been described as the “power behind the throne” in Sudan during the 1990s, as leader of the NIF and as Speaker of the National Assembly.[4] Turabi gave Osama Bin Laden sanctuary in Sudan.[5]

Maher Hathout has also asserted that “Hezbollah is fighting for freedom” and that the organization is “very American”.[6] In fact, Hezbollah is listed by the State Department as a terrorist organization.

“The Muslim Public Affairs Council should apologize for the statements of its executive director on September 11, 2001, and should disown and sever all connection with the Hathout brothers,” said Sherman.

If a group like MPAC truly renounces terrorism commited in the name of their religion, then they wouldn’t have a problem with making sure terror groups don’t get funded.  That they do have their collective turbans in a bunch is telling.

I don’t know anything about Congressman Sherman, but I certainly salute his resolve in not letting these people browbeat him into submission.

CA prisoners will now have protected sodomy

Californiastan is at it again.  Observe:

A controversial new pilot program providing free condoms for California prison inmates is in its final planning stages.

The Solano State Prison is installing 10 condom distribution machines that will be stocked with 1,200 condoms a week, reported Sacramento, Calif., TV station KCRA.

The hope is that the condoms will limit the spread of sexually transmitted diseases among inmates.

“We know risk behavior is being reduced,” said Mary Sylla of the Center for Health Justice. “We will eventually be reducing HIV infections by this measure.”

A nonprofit group is supplying the prison with the machines and condoms, which comes out to costing a total of $60,000.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has twice vetoed legislation that would have set up a statewide condom distribution, but last fall the governor ordered the Department of Corrections to conduct a one-year trial.

A union representing prison guard supervisors is opposed to the distribution of condoms.

The union said that condoms can be used as places to hide drugs or weapons.

“They can put stuff in them and use them to throw at staff or other inmates,” said Chris Gold of the Prison Supervisor’s Union.

It is also technically against the law for inmates to have sex, and the state said that wouldn’t change.

“Sexual activity in prisons is still illegal,” said Terry Thornton of the California Corrections Department. “Inmates will be notified of that as well where the machines are located.”

Smaller test programs have already been in place at county jails in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and supporters said so far there has never been a report of a condom being used as a weapon.

After the one-year trial run is complete, state officials will produce a report about whether the program was a success or not.

“Yo, warden!  My b#tch in cell 5 gave me Hep B, and it’s yo’ damn fault!  If I had me some Trojans, den I wudn’t have had to worry about whether my raping dat dude woulda infected me!  I’m gettin’ da ACLU on dis one, man!”

Wow…just “wow”!

Obama: I believe in God AND evolution

The money quote:

I’m a Christian (who just so happens to have a 100% rating from the leading pro-abortion group in America, and whose voting record borders on supporting infanticide – Ed.), and I believe in parents being able to provide children with religious instruction without interference from the state. But I also believe our schools are there to teach worldly knowledge and science. I believe in evolution, and I believe there’s a difference between science and faith. That doesn’t make faith any less important than science. It just means they’re two different things. And I think it’s a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don’t hold up to scientific inquiry.

Theories like, oh, I dunno…the man-made global “warming” theory?  That doesn’t “hold up to scientific inquiry”, either, but it does support his Marxist worldview.

Obama claiming to be a pro-infanticide Christian is like a meat-eating man who claims to be a vegetarian.
