Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Obama “taking the gloves off”…again

From ABC News blog:

Like any number of Democratic candidates before him — Mike Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry — Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is once again declaring that he is going to take off the gloves and fight back against attacks from the Republican party.

But just so you know — this is by my count the 4th time Obama’s campaign has officially or unofficially made such a declaration that Obama will “take off the gloves” and fight back.

That’s a lot of pairs of gloves.

The Isotoner campaign, one might say. …

Because The One Who Transcends Old Politics wouldn’t possibly get personal, right?  Yeah, right:

If nothing else, this should be entertaining. How much lower and personal can one go than to accuse opponents of being racists? Obama’s already trotted that out four times this summer, the last time just a week ago.

Democrats have tried going “personal” against Palin already, with disastrous results.  Every kind of smear has been aimed at her, from being nothing more than a pregnant pants-suit to a slut to a bad mother, and so on.  Where has that taken the Obama campaign?  On an unprecedented slide in polling that they now have less than eight weeks to stop, let alone reverse.

Obama started this campaign on a promise of New Politics.  He betrayed that by breaking his pledge on public financing, and almost immediately afterwards began weeping about the racist Republicans and the John McCain campaign.  The farther Obama walks away from his New Politics pledge, the weaker he becomes.  Because without that, voters have no reason at all to vote for a man with no experience at all.

“Hope” and “change” and stuff…

  1. The big “gloves-off” moment? McCain admits he doesn’t use email. Oooooh. As Rick Moran notes:

“Obama has come out with an ad that denigrates John McCain because the GOP candidate has said that he doesn’t use email. Obama belittles this notion – despite the fact that Bill Clinton sent exactly two emails his entire time as president and more importantly, 20% of the country doesn’t use emails at all either – mostly older people … who vote.”

McCain and campaign should note that they need not say much through this election. Obama is turning out to be his own worst enemy. With the media just now beginning to take note, as the rug they have been sweeping everything under is getting lumpy, Obama may end up being McCain’s best campaigner.

  2. I wonder how many of Ballsack’s constituents in the Chicago slums use e-mail?

  3. My husband thought this “not using the computer” issue very, very impt. He uses email all the time in his business. But I guess the President would have someone else doing that for him. This is not a deal breaker for me.

  4. Or read for that matter, WMD_Maker….

According to the Boston Globe 8 years ago, a big reason why McCain can’t email is because he cannot use a keyboard, because of the injuries he received defending our country.

  5. JsinGood, I have no doubt that you are right about that point.

A week or so ago, the Body Language ‘spert that BillO has on every week made the comment that McCain should put his hands behind his back instead of always having them in front of him. At the time, I remember thinking, Bitch, you really, seriously are blonde.

  6. Thomas Lifson at American Thinker finds the ultimate quote:

“In a similar vein I guess it’s an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn’t know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it’s like to navigate New York’s highways.”

    Zing!

  7. He probably shouldn’t be serving as Governor if he thinks saying someone was/is a community organizer is racist.

Rudy gonna fix that next election.
