Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

PETA finds source of autism: cow’s milk

Is there no shame that these individuals feel for crap like this?  From WABC-TV:

The animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has put up a billboard in Newark claiming there is a link between cow’s milk and autism.

The group says the billboard shows a bowl of milk and cereal with the tagline “Got Autism?” in imitation of the “Got Milk?” campaign.

The sign also claims that studies have shown a link between cow’s milk and autism. The group cites two European studies that link autism to milk consumption and show a link between dairy-free diets and improved autism symptoms. …

This will no doubt come as a huge shock to parents of autistic kids who breastfed their kids and didn’t give them any dairy products.  When you have to lie in order to bring people to your point of view, that means your point of view is deficient, weak, and full of holes.  PETA has proved that time and again.

By the way, for those who know someone with autism, I leave you with this thought, from John 9:1-3:

1 As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth.

2 And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?”

3 Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so (D)that the works of God might be displayed in him.

No one is being punished by God by having autistic kids, relatives, or friends.  Please remember that.

  1. Cow’s milk causes autism. Great! Problem solved. We’ll never hear about autism again. Thanks PETA.

  2. Haven’t most of these kids eaten carrots? Surely it’s the carrots and not the cows milk!

  3. Here I thought that it was cows milk (with all the growth hormones that are harmless) that caused 12 yr old girls to have breasts. Well now I know its not breasts they have, its autism. Learn something new everyday.

  4. Jon,
As a father of a 16 year old (and breastfed for 1 year) autistic son this BS pi$$es me off. Outright lying for a political view. I did like your take however, “so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
I present exhibit A, the works that God displays thru Mick:

  5. A while back I heard that these idiots lobbied Ben & Jerry to replace cow’s milk with human milk in their ice-cream… Ben & Jerry declined politely…

Anyway, I should probably sent them pictures of my daughter taking her first deer this season ;-) I KNOW they’d dig that kind of stuff ;-)

  8. You’ve got an interesting take on all this. I’m not a doctor and I don’t know what causes autism. I suspect it’s a number of things. I think PETA’s stance is too extreme without much to back it up, but I will say this much. A year ago my son was on the autism spectrum. We have tried a variety of treatments, including intensive OT, but he wasn’t able to begin to improve until casein and gluten were removed (strictly)from his diet. John 9:1-3 is a verse I cling to and I was so happy to see it in your article. I’m now happy to say that as long as we stick to the diet, our son is no longer on the spectrum. Our journey to healing has brought many others along as well (which, I think, is in keeping with the verse) and many have found that dietary changes are making a difference in their lives as well.

I do also want to point out that casein is found in human breast milk if the mother is consuming it. I’d also like to point out that unless you are specifically going to great lengths to avoid milk products, you are almost certainly consuming it without your knowledge.

Anyway, if this sign put out by PETA brings about healing for even one child with autism, I think it was worth it.

  9. Those rats trying to make parents feel worst about something that they had no control over… IT”S IN THE DNA. nothing you feed your child or did not feed them causes this disorder. Putting them on some bs diet doesn’t help unless they have something meabloic that has some of the same results as atusim. stop wasting your money and your time killing your self trying to “fix” your child with what ever jerk with something to sell you has this week. ABA , speach, and other education interventions is were to put yout time and money. they work end of story they are the only thing that has been study in the bright light of day and has shown improvement trackable improvement. Even those pushing the diets say it take years for you to see the results “Sarah” claim to a quick fix is rubish. My son has had an atusim almost all nine years of his life progress is slow and painful but so was giving birth. It’s worth the work it’s worth the time to do it the right safe way. My child is growning and not lacking in the nurtion to do so or being poked with needles on a daily baises in the hopes if we throw engh money at some “doctor” he’ll be fixed. The number of things PETA has done of the years that hurt their cause more then help it and in the thousands but this takes the cookie.
