“Vote black?”
Thanks to Kanaka Girl for passing this on. Please take the time to read this blog post by G. Craige Lewis, a black minister who sees the dangers and evils of voting for Obama. Excerpts:
The 2008 Hip Hop Awards came on the other day and it proved one thing to me. Some black folks will be dumb until Jesus comes back! How can anyone look at pimps, thugs, and gangsters as a good thing that needs to be celebrated? How did Hip Hop become the voice of our youth to the point that the black church is bending over backwards for it’s acceptance? This is a shame. But one thing that they did on this show that really got me going was the push for a “black” vote in the election. Not knowing the issues at hand, but yet and still, they constantly pushed the young folks and HIp Hop fans to “vote black” this election.
How embarrassing! These folks undid everything that Dr. Martin Luther King dreamed of in one dumb hour! They took apart his dream and the civil rights movement by pointing to the black candidate as the mandatory vote of black people. This is sad. Martin Luther King said that he dreamed of the day when people would not be judged by the color of their skin, but the content of their character! How can you say, “vote black” and not go against that dream? Just because an african man mixed with white is running does not mean he is the right choice or the only choice for black people. We are moving to the back of the bus again and we don’t even see it. As far as straight politics goes, Blacks are the only race of people that are not bipartisan. We have been conditioned to be on one side and never split our vote. Other races and ethnic groups including, hispanics, catholics, and jews put people on both sides of the ticket for leverage and a voice no matter how the pendulum swings. But blacks stay at the back of the bus and don’t spread out so when we lose, we lose our voice and power. That’s slave mentality. …
Biblical perspectives abound in this post, too:
…I’m sorry folks, but we can’t stay on this road. This is the road that leads to the accepting of the mark of the beast. This is the road that hides the truth and promotes the lie. This road will get you voting for economics rather than morality. And that’s the road that will lead to the antichrist! The bible said that in the end, you will not be able to buy or sell unless you pledge your allegiance to the beast! Buy or sell? That’s economics. Thats money! And if you are voting for economic reasons and not considering morality or your own convictions, then you are essentially doing exactly what the bible predicts will happen in the end. People will begin to vote in the man that will lead us to the antichrist and the end. They will vote this man in based on economic issues and popularity. He will be voted in because of the financial crisis of the government and people will not even consider his true moral ethics. Black Christian leaders have totally abandoned the bible in this election. They have chosen culture over Christ and have accepted the 3 things that the antichrist will implement in his rule. Abortion, Homosexuality, and the silencing of the truth! These things are on the table and being ignored because of the color of a man’s skin?
…
…God forbid! I will not be guilty of ushering in the antichrists policies because a man is of color! I am not practicing to receive the mark of the beast. And if you are voting against your own beliefs and bible for the sake of money, color, or party biases, then you have just passed the mark of the beast test. You have just proven that socialistic reasons supersede your spiritual convictions! And this is exactly what the antichrist will do. He will exalt himself above God and make his immoral beliefs acceptable by all. And without question we see that Barack Obama has caused preachers and pastors, great and small, to follow him in spite of his antichrist morals. Abortion, homosexuality, and the silencing of the church are on his ticket and yet black church folks don’t care. The very things that are killing us as a people are the very things that we are in favor of. The scariest part is that this is just rehearsal for the coming rule of the antichrist and the black church has lined up on the wrong side! I’m not saying that McCain is the answer, but I’m saying that if you are voting, your convictions as a believer in the bible should out weigh every thing else.
Congrats to people like jen who have decided to cast their lot with the mark of the beast. Good luck explaining that one to the Almighty.
This final point is one that I have tried to make clear:
It’s late in the hour and Jesus is taking notes on where you stand. Your vote is your stand. And it would be better to not vote at all than to cast a vote for the very agenda that the antichrist will promote.
Amen, fellow Brother in Christ! If you have moral objections to voting for McCain, then by all means, do NOT vote for him! But as I mentioned before, you cannot call yourself a born-again Christian and vote for Obama. Period, end of discussion.
Please read the post…it’s excellent reading!

Tangentially related: Once in a while, I’ll run across someone on the net who suggests that BHO is the Antichrist. Not in a metaphorical way, but in a very “Book of Revelations” way. My main problem with this idea is that I have a hard time picturing the Antichrist saying “uh” so much, or being unable to function without a teleprompter. But I’m willing to reserve judgment. I guess if my bank asks me to tattoo a bar code on my forehead, I’ll know I was wrong.
In any event, pray hard over the next few days for the future of the country, win or lose.

Being black and not voting for now President-Elect Obama was difficult. I must admit, i broke down in tears when he gave his acceptance speech. However, my tears flowed because i could not be part of a historical event. My christian faith and belief in God’s word would not let me vote for him. However, God’s word supercedes everything. Here is a something i posted on a blog recently:
“We all know the scripture that says ‘judge not lest ye be judged’; yet we always seem to forget that John 7:24 says we must “judge with righteous judgment.”
Having said that, The African-American side of me is proud that a Black man has a chance to become President. However, God’s word supercedes and is far above what i want or my feelings. It amazes me at how so many Chirstians are ignoring God’s word. I believe that God is orchestrating a mass exposing of Christians in America; that He is initiating mass testing to see who loves him. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments.
When it comes to abortion God doesn’t have to specifically talk about it in order for us to know where He stands on the issue of life. Senator Obama is pro-choice. He also voted 4 times against the “Born Alive Infant Protection Act” (BAIPA) while he was an Illinois Senator. Basically the bill said that any child surviving a botched abortion should receive medical treatment to keep the infant alive (Go to this link to see how he voted and read his explanations for his no votes http://www.wrtl.org/pac_ecard/pac_ecard_documentation1.aspx). The bible has many verses about life and the unborn. For instance:
Deuteronomy 30:19
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now CHOOSE life, so that you and your children may live
Jeremiah 20:17
For he did not kill me in the womb, with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever.
Leviticus 17:11
For the life of a creature is in the blood,
Isaiah 66:9
Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?” says the LORD. “Do I close up the womb when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;
Psalm 139:16
Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:13
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Ecclesiastes 11:5
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
When we commit our lives to Christ, we follow his teachings 100%. I’m not saying we are perfect for we all fall short now and again. Senator Obama says he is Christian, a follower of Christ. John 14:21 says
“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me”.
God says He ‘watches over His word’ in Jeremiah 1:12.
On the subject of salvation and going to heaven Senator Obama says his grandmother is in heaven because she was ‘kind, decent and generous’(link is his own words http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVmNPY8-0kk)
He was also quoted in an interview he gave to Chicago Sun-Times religion editor Cathleen Falsani saying: “I’m rooted in the Christian tradition,” Obama told Falsani. “I believe there are MANY Paths to the same place”… This completely contradicts what Jesus says in John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I AM the way and the truth and the life. NO ONE comes to the Father except through me”.
The Senator also said that the Sermon on the Mount was radical, the book of Leviticus suggests that slavery was okay and Deuteronomy promoted stoning children (go to this link to hear it in his own words: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaNXqZGDYWc)
These statements from Senator Obama contradicts the Word of God.
Galatians 1:8 says
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel OTHER THAN THE ONE WE PREACHED to you, let him be eternally condemned! I didn’t say it, God did.
How can we as Christians push God’s word aside becasue we want to see an African-American in the White House? There is no race creed, color, doctrine or desire that should take precedence over God’s words, ever. If there is then it is a form of idolatry. You don’t have to worship an image for it to be idolatry. Anything we value above His word is. Remember, God is a jealous God; He will have no other gods before Him.
Even Louis Farrakhan went so far as to say that the Senator is “the Messiah speaking!(link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha5HEc-vOJs) It’s one thing for the Minister to say He is an instrument of God, but to say he is the Chirst is downright blasphemous.
What could we possibly say to God on the last day if He asks ‘why did you vote for someone who clearly went against my word’? I wanted change? I wanted a Black President? How can we say we love God’s word and not keep it? How can we worship in truth?
Finally King Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 12:13
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man”.
