Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Catholic bishop: Vote for Obama and risk damnation

Looks like I’m not the only one who thinks that you can’t be a true born-again Christian and vote for Obama.  Excerpt:

I would say, “Give consideration to your eternal salvation.”  Because to vote for a person who has expressed a fanatical determination to not only support abortion as it exists now but to remove all limitations on it through the Freedom of Choice Act, and to extend it without any recourse, throwing out all of the efforts of citizens over the last 35 years to place reasonable limits on abortion, that voting for a person who has expressed his determination to do this to Planned Parenthood, to NARAL — that you make yourself a participant in the act of abortion.  That’s gravely wrong, and you mustn’t do it because your eternal salvation is tied up in that important choice.

Exactly.  As G. Craige Lewis notes: “Do we, as Christians, ignore morality and side for money and opportunity?”  Although I would argue that under a President Hussein, we would have neither, I would say that if so-called “Christians” were so inclined, may God have mercy on their souls.

Another “polls are crap” post

Indulge me for a moment, friends.

The Freepers showed this around the 2004 elections.  Zogby’s final projection was a narrow Bush popular vote win, but a decisive Kerry electoral vote win: 311-213 (with NV and CO too close to call).  He projected Kerry to win FL (he lost by 5%), IA by 5% (he lost narrowly), and NM by 3% (he lost narrowly).

Zogs had these states being competitive losses for Kerry: NC (Kerry lost by 12%), TN (Kerry lost by 14%), WV (Kerry lost by 13%), and AR (Bush won by 10%).  Seriously…a MA blue-blood effete liberal hanging in NC, TN, WV, and AR?  Unlike Bubba, Zogs must have inhaled.

Anywho, sorry to beat a dead horse, but I think you get the idea: polls suck.

Obama: Yep, I’ll bankrupt coal plants and cause energy prices to skyrocket

The One on how he plans on helping out coal workers in OH, WV, and PA:

So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

There’s a good way to jumpstart the economy in these already depressed regions, huh?

As Ed notes, coal provides about half of this nation’s energy source for electric plants.  The end result?  Just ask Uhhh-bama himself:

You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.

Recession?  Check.  Killing coal that provide this country’s electricity?  Check.  Jacking up your power bills into the stratusphere as a sacrifice to Mother Gaia?  Checkity-check-check.
