Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

NYC government to churches: Hey, you need to stop sheltering homeless people!

When Ronnie said “Government is not the solution…government is the problem”, he was right on the money.  From the Big Apple:

City officials have ordered 22 New York churches to stop providing beds to homeless people.

With temperatures well below freezing early Saturday, the churches must obey a city rule requiring faith-based shelters to be open at least five days a week — or not at all.

Arnold Cohen, president of the Partnership for the Homeless, a nonprofit that serves as a link with the city, said he had to tell the churches they no longer qualify.

He said hundreds of people now won’t have a place to sleep. …

Well, thank God goodness we won’t have those churches providing shelter for the homeless!  I mean, when a group of Christians wants to look out for their fellow man in freezing cold temperatures, that kind of compassion cannot go uncontested!

Exit question: Since NYC is run by liberals, can we safely assume that (a) liberals are hostile to God; (b) liberals don’t really care about the homeless; and (c) liberals are incapable of common sense?

  1. Totally insane and completely unsurprising. All hail the superior mind of the liberal.

  2. NYC is only tolerant of churches that provide sanctuary for ILLEGALS.

  3. Seems like the ACLU and Barry Lynn should be howling about separation of church and state, yes? I mean, the government is telling a church how to conduct its affairs. Oh, wait, they don’t care about that.
Maybe the churches should just claim they are conducting a 24-hour prayer vigil on cold nights – if homeless people fall asleep in the pews, that’s their business.

  4. Hmmm, I wonder if this includes the Quaker Meeting House at Rutherford Place. They used to provide a shelter on Friday and Saturday nights, because there aren’t any Friends Seminary classes over the weekend…

  5. I asked too soon; The Friends Shelter is now open 7 days a week.
