Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Mel Martinez won’t run again in 2010

Hallelujah!  From The Hill:

Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection in 2010, passing on what looked to be one of the most difficult reelection battles in the country.

Martinez, 62, has been saying for weeks that he intended to run again but would wait until January to make an announcement. Instead, he announced less than a month after the 2008 elections that he is passing on another term.

Democrats are searching for a candidate in the race. Among those being mentioned at this early stage are Reps. Allen Boyd, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ron Klein, Robert Wexler and Kathy Castor, as well as state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink.

Bob Wexler?  Dude’s crazier than an Islamofascist at an S.I. Swimsuit Edition photoshoot!

I was dreading Senor Mel’s re-election, since I knew I wasn’t going to be voting for him.  His unwavering position on amnesty for criminal aliens was enough to turn me away from him.  This ought to give the GOP time to find a suitable candidate (though never underestimate the ability of the GOP to screw something up).  Maybe Gov. Crist, who I’d rather have out of our state and in D.C., would be an option.

Adios, Senor Mel Amnesty!  Don’t let la puerta hit you on the way out!

Queers attack Mormons for CA passing Prop 8

Nothing says “we’re just like everyone else” quite like attacking churches, religious people, and normal Americans.  From FNC:

In the nearly four weeks since Election Day, gay activists and thousands of their supporters have rallied outside Mormon temples around the country, protesting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ support for California’s Proposition 8, the ballot initiative to make same-sex marriage illegal in the Golden State.

There have been calls to boycott the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah; some activists have called for a boycott of the entire state of Utah. Protesters have defaced some church buildings, and in Arapaho County, Colo., the Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible hate crime — the torching of the Book of Mormon on a church’s doorstep.

Even the state of California itself has announced that it is investigating the church’s involvement in Proposition 8, which was approved by a vote of 52 percent to 48 percent and, barring a Supreme Court overturn, will ban gay marriage in the state.

There have been no other reports of backlash against other groups that supported Prop 8, notably African-Americans and other churches and religious denominations that turned out in heavy numbers to push through the ban.

Exit polls after the Nov. 4 vote showed that 70 percent of black voters and more than half of Latino voters voted yes on Prop 8. About two-thirds of self-identified Christians supported the ban, and married voters and parents also showed strong support. The Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Church and evangelical groups in the state also urged for a ban on gay marriage.

So why is the Mormon Church the only target?

It’s because of the money, says Evan Wolfe, executive director of Freedom to Marry, a New York-based group that supports same-sex marriage.

“The Mormon Church hierarchy led the way on this attack on gay families and the California constitution,” Wolfe said. “They provided more than half of the funding. They provided the ground troops and were a major political force in a way that no other group was. …”

Let’s cut to the chase and call it like it is: these drama queens are nothing more than lily-livered cowards.  I mean, this right here says it all:

Lorri Jean, CEO of the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, wrote on the organization’s Web site that she doesn’t blame African-Americans or minority groups for the passage of Prop. 8.

Why not “blame them”?  Why would you not blame the acutal people who voted on the matter?  Why attack a religious organization (Mormons) that has little influence in a gi-normous leftist state like CA?  If you really believe that Mormons drive policy decisions in Californiastan, I’ve got some prime beachfront property in Oklahoma I’d like to sell you.

Virtually all groups of people who voted “No” on Prop 8 would fight back (many with force) against the queer lobby’s heavy-handed tactics.  Mormons won’t.  These sissies know that, so they throw their limp-wristed temper tantrums with impunity.  Sad and pathetic.  May God have mercy on their depraved souls.
