Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Moonbatosphere laments that Obama not socialist enough

From Politico:

Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices.

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.

Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.

“He has confirmed what our suspicions were by surrounding himself with a centrist to right cabinet. But we do hope that before it’s all over we can get at least one authentic progressive appointment,” said Tim Carpenter, national director of the Progressive Democrats of America.

OpenLeft blogger Chris Bowers went so far as to issue this plaintive plea: “Isn’t there ever a point when we can get an actual Democratic administration?” …

This is what happens when you put your worship and adulation towards a false messiah rather than the real Messiah.  When you put your faith in man, you will inevitably be let down.  Not so when you put your faith in Christ.  Rather than worshiping the gods of electoral outcomes, skin color, party identification, etc., the ‘bats should turn their eyes towards Heaven (no, that is not Washington, D.C.).  Here’s what we know about idolatry:

Psalm 16:4:  ”The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply”

Jeremiah 11:12:  “Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble.

Jeremiah 1:16: “And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.”

And finally, the powerful words from Judges 10:14: “Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.”

Believe it or not, I do have some sympathy for the moonbats.  I mean, they racked up big electoral victories in 2006 and 2008.  They got themselves the first Democrat president in eight years, and they control both chambers of Congress.  Yet they’re still as unhappy as I’ve ever seen them.  May they find peace in God instead of in politics.  The more I unplug myself from politics (which, as you can tell by the dwindling number of posts lately, is happening right now) and plug into the Word, the happier I am.  Give it a try, moonbats…you’ll feel much better!  :)

Night and Day, “MSM and inauguration parties” edition

From 2004:

At the height of World War II in 1945, Franklin D. Roosevelt opted for a low-key inauguration to mark the start of his fourth term, with a simple swearing-in ceremony, a brief speech from the South Portico of the White House to a small crowd and a modest luncheon. He was the exception.

No other president-elect taking office during wartime — from Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War to Dwight D. Eisenhower during the Korean conflict to Richard Nixon during the Vietnam War — has scaled back his inaugural events as Roosevelt did.

Neither will President Bush.

In January, as war continues in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bush’s second inauguration will heavily emphasize the ongoing conflicts and sacrifices by U.S. forces with the theme, “Celebrating Freedom, Honoring Service.” But the festivities will rival those held during peacetime.

On tap are nine official balls, a youth concert, a parade, a fireworks display and, of course, Bush’s second swearing-in ceremony and speech at noon on Jan. 20. Planners put the cost at $30 million to $40 million, excluding expenses for security for the first post-Sept. 11 inauguration.

From 2008:

Unemployment is on the rise. The stock market is in the tank. Is this any time for a party?

For the sake of the masses of people expected for President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration, let’s hope so. While Obama must be sensitive to the nation’s time of war and recession, there’s still reason to expect a rollicking time.

“We’re mindful of the fact that people in this country are hurting, that they’re going through hard times,” said Linda Douglass, spokeswoman for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. “On the other hand, we see this not just as a celebration of an election, but as a time for people to come together and celebrate their common values and shared aspirations and goals.”

Nope…no liberal media bias!

Supreme Court declines to hear “Obama is an American” case

Details here, but it’s time I said something about this:

People, let it go.

He was born in Hawaii in 1961.  HI was a state in 1961.  Ergo, he is a citizen.  I feel that the right is done a great disservice when its members pull a “He’s not my president!” line of thinking that the unhinged left has displayed for eight years now.

Look, I’ll grant you that the Constitution is crystal clear on the matter.  And if some incontrovertible proof surfaces that Obama is not a citizen, then the legal process will work itself out.  Until then, the Certificate of Live Birth that the state of HI provided is going to have to suffice.
