Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Moonbatosphere laments that Obama not socialist enough

From Politico:

Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices.

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.

Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.

“He has confirmed what our suspicions were by surrounding himself with a centrist to right cabinet. But we do hope that before it’s all over we can get at least one authentic progressive appointment,” said Tim Carpenter, national director of the Progressive Democrats of America.

OpenLeft blogger Chris Bowers went so far as to issue this plaintive plea: “Isn’t there ever a point when we can get an actual Democratic administration?” …

This is what happens when you put your worship and adulation towards a false messiah rather than the real Messiah.  When you put your faith in man, you will inevitably be let down.  Not so when you put your faith in Christ.  Rather than worshiping the gods of electoral outcomes, skin color, party identification, etc., the ‘bats should turn their eyes towards Heaven (no, that is not Washington, D.C.).  Here’s what we know about idolatry:

Psalm 16:4:  ”The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply”

Jeremiah 11:12:  “Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble.

Jeremiah 1:16: “And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.”

And finally, the powerful words from Judges 10:14: “Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.”

Believe it or not, I do have some sympathy for the moonbats.  I mean, they racked up big electoral victories in 2006 and 2008.  They got themselves the first Democrat president in eight years, and they control both chambers of Congress.  Yet they’re still as unhappy as I’ve ever seen them.  May they find peace in God instead of in politics.  The more I unplug myself from politics (which, as you can tell by the dwindling number of posts lately, is happening right now) and plug into the Word, the happier I am.  Give it a try, moonbats…you’ll feel much better!  :)

  1. Wow. You know I am kind of sad to see you ‘unplugging’ yourself from politics because we will need all the strong voices we can get over the coming years. However, if there was anything more worthy of devotion than what is leading you away from all the witty posts, I could never imagine such a thing.

It is funny, though. The more I open myself up and listen to the word, the more determined I am to fight and become a witness and a loud voice in opposition to the things that are clearly wrong in this nation.

John 1:23 – He said, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”

  2. CC,

Yep, I’m hanging this up as of Dec. 31. I first mentioned it here. In light of family, work, and spiritual priorities, I don’t think I can dedicate the time and energy it takes to make this blog what it has been for the last four years. Plus, moonbats make it difficult to follow Christ’s plan for me, so why subject myself to their faithless abuse if I don’t have to? :)

At either rate, I still have three more weeks before I hang this up. So stick around! :)

  3. Well, as I said, there could be no greater calling than following the Word. As I stated in the new About seciton of my recently converted WordPress site, “Personally I am a Christian, dedicated husband and proud father of three wonderful children. Most of what I do in my life is base upon those three simple things I just stated.”

I completely understand where you are coming from, but it does not mean that I will not mourn the passing of a strong conservative (somewhat libertarian) voice. Even though of late I have been absent from my normal blog stops, I have always enjoyed your post, commentary, wit and humor when I did stop by. I do hope that sometimes, when you miss this, and you know you will from time to time, you still stop by and pay a visit. Drop a humerous comment or take just the tiniest rip at a moonbat. God does allow us some small simple pleasures in life. :)

Other than that, may you live well and my your faith find you far better off tommorow than it finds you today, and better still the day after that.

  4. Thanks for all the kind words, CC. I’ll still be around the blogosphere, leaving an occasional comment at various blogs (yours included). :)
