Union kills auto bailout bill

Why would the UAW kill a bill that will ultimately keep their members employed?  Because…I swear I’m not making this up…Congress wants the union members to actually earn what they’re worth instead of earning $31/hr to do crossword puzzles.  According to the union, watching your contract with Detroit ripped to pieces through bankruptcy AND watching all of your members getting pink slips sure beats a pay cut.  In socialist la-la-land, $0/hr is better than $20/hr.  Here’s your nugget of economic illiteracy for the day:

A bailout-weary Congress killed a $14 billion package to aid struggling U.S. automakers Thursday night after a partisan dispute over union wage cuts derailed a last-ditch effort to revive the emergency aid before year’s end.

Republicans, breaking sharply with President George W. Bush as his term draws to a close, refused to back federal aid for Detroit’s beleaguered Big Three without a guarantee that the United Auto Workers would agree by the end of next year to wage cuts to bring their pay into line with U.S. plants of Japanese carmakers. The UAW refused to do so before its current contract with the automakers expires in 2011.

Memo to the geniuses (genii?) at the auto union: your employer may not be in existence in 2011!  That’s why they’re groveling before Congress for a taxpayer-funded bailout of their bad business decisions…the chief of which is ever agreeing to do business with your union!

UPDATE: News bits about the IL Democrat governor arrest

As many of you know, the Dem governor of IL and FOB (Friend of Barack), Rod Blagojevich, was busted by the feds for massive corruption.  He was trying to sell Obama’s soon-to-be-vacated Senate seat, plus he attempted to bribe the parent company of the Chicago Tribune to fire editors/reporters who were critical of him, plus…well here, read the laundry list for yourself.

In other words, typical Chicago (and Illinois) politics…dirty as usual.

UPDATES BELOW.

Predictably, the Obamessiah came along to make room under his bus for Ol’ Rod.  He said nothing of substance, other than the “This is not the Rod Blog…Blago…Bagodonuts…whatever his name is that I thought I knew.”  Barry O says he hasn’t been in contact with Blagojevich.  Barry O’s spokesman said that’s not quite true.  O cracks the whip, and Axelrod retreated like a French soldier.  John Dickerson thinks Uhhh-bama’s answer was “underwhelming” and “unconvincing”, to say the least.

Let’s see: Dude hires a bunch of Clintonistas to run his “new” administration, and he is beset by corrupt associates before he has even taken office yet…this isn’t “Change”, Obaminions, it’s the Clinton Administration Part II.

UPDATE (12/10/2008 – 1:35 P.M. EST):  Yep, Big O and Blag-o met to talk about the Senate seat vacancy.  Must have slipped O’s mind.  Years of drug abuse will do that, I suppose.

UPDATE (12/11/2008 – 8:10 A.M. EST):  Quoth The One two days ago:  “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.”  Which is why Big O and Blag-o were pressing the flesh just last Tuesday.  Why, if I didn’t know any better, I’d swear that the Obamaliar was being a little “less than truthful”!

Notes Ace:

It is unlikely in the extreme that Obama plotted corruptly with Blago shortly after having been elected president. That’s not the way the favor bank works, after all. The guy with more power doesn’t need the guy with less power very much.

It does however underscore Obama’s breathless dishonesty on his contacts with his various criminal associates — he simply makes s##t up out of whole cloth. He just doesn’t care that there is a factual record to rebut his lies– he knows the Obamamedia won’t call him out.

Gitmo detainees tortured by…music?

Details here.

Come on, you weenie weirdbeards!  It’s a treat to be jammin’ to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica and “Bodies” by Drowning Pool.  Heck, you should give up a prayer rug for one of those tunes!

What?  Wait, you also had to endure the “I Love You” theme from “Barney & Friends”?

OK, there may be a point to this “torture” claim after all.  Seriously, hook my jewels up to the electrodes and drop the toaster in the bathtub, but for the love of Allah, please stop that infernal Barney crap!

Obama: global “warming” a “national security” threat

That junk science fad known as global “warming” is being discredited each and every day, but since when has the left allowed facts to get in the way of screwing things up?  From al-Reuters:

“We have the opportunity now to create jobs all across this country, in all 50 states, to re-power America, to redesign how we use energy, to think about how we are increasing efficiency, to make our economy stronger, make us more safe, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and make us competitive for decades to come, even as we’re saving the planet,” Obama said.

Dave in Texas (via Ace) has saved me the legwork of translating Uhhh-bama’s B.S. (and that doesn’t mean “Bible Study”!):

We’ll create jobs (federal), re-power ourselves (pixy dust), redesign our energy use (stop using it), think (think), strengthen our economy (tax it), be safer (ignore actual threats), reduce our dependence on foreign oil (see stop using it) make us more competitive (ignorant) AND save the planet.

God help us.

Gay marriage proponents urging supporters to “call in gay” to skip work

The queers get all kinds of moronic ideas, but this one probably takes the hot fudge cake.  From JWF:

…Just the latest in the five-week temper tantrum by the angry, militant gays.

So childish.

Some same-sex marriage supporters are urging people to “call in gay” Wednesday to show how much the country relies on gays and lesbians, but others question whether it’s wise to encourage skipping work given the nation’s economic distress.

Organizers of “Day Without a Gay” — scheduled to coincide with International Human Rights Day and modeled after similar work stoppages by Latino immigrants — also are encouraging people to perform volunteer work and refrain from spending money.

Sean Hetherington, a West Hollywood comedian and personal trainer, dreamed up the idea with his boyfriend, Aaron Hartzler, after reading online that a few angry gay-rights activists were calling for a daylong strike to protest California voters’ passage last month of Proposition 8, which reversed this year’s state Supreme Court decision allowing gay marriage.

It isn’t clear who a comedian would call in gay to, but let’s humor them. …

“Hello, boss?  Yeah, I don’t think I can come into work today.  I mean, I felt fine when I hit the hay last night.  But I woke up wearing a pink feather boa and leather #ssless chaps while singing Village People songs with a jar of Vaseline beside my pink lamp.  That, plus my gerbil’s missing.  So I think I’m gonna call in ‘gay’ today, if it’s all the same to you.  I should be less gay tomorrow, though.  See you then…toodles!”  (Two snaps and a circle…)

Moonbatosphere laments that Obama not socialist enough

From Politico:

Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices.

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.

Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.

“He has confirmed what our suspicions were by surrounding himself with a centrist to right cabinet. But we do hope that before it’s all over we can get at least one authentic progressive appointment,” said Tim Carpenter, national director of the Progressive Democrats of America.

OpenLeft blogger Chris Bowers went so far as to issue this plaintive plea: “Isn’t there ever a point when we can get an actual Democratic administration?” …

This is what happens when you put your worship and adulation towards a false messiah rather than the real Messiah.  When you put your faith in man, you will inevitably be let down.  Not so when you put your faith in Christ.  Rather than worshiping the gods of electoral outcomes, skin color, party identification, etc., the ‘bats should turn their eyes towards Heaven (no, that is not Washington, D.C.).  Here’s what we know about idolatry:

Psalm 16:4:  ”The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply”

Jeremiah 11:12:  “Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble.

Jeremiah 1:16: “And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.”

And finally, the powerful words from Judges 10:14: “Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.”

Believe it or not, I do have some sympathy for the moonbats.  I mean, they racked up big electoral victories in 2006 and 2008.  They got themselves the first Democrat president in eight years, and they control both chambers of Congress.  Yet they’re still as unhappy as I’ve ever seen them.  May they find peace in God instead of in politics.  The more I unplug myself from politics (which, as you can tell by the dwindling number of posts lately, is happening right now) and plug into the Word, the happier I am.  Give it a try, moonbats…you’ll feel much better!  :)

Night and Day, “MSM and inauguration parties” edition

From 2004:

At the height of World War II in 1945, Franklin D. Roosevelt opted for a low-key inauguration to mark the start of his fourth term, with a simple swearing-in ceremony, a brief speech from the South Portico of the White House to a small crowd and a modest luncheon. He was the exception.

No other president-elect taking office during wartime — from Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War to Dwight D. Eisenhower during the Korean conflict to Richard Nixon during the Vietnam War — has scaled back his inaugural events as Roosevelt did.

Neither will President Bush.

In January, as war continues in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bush’s second inauguration will heavily emphasize the ongoing conflicts and sacrifices by U.S. forces with the theme, “Celebrating Freedom, Honoring Service.” But the festivities will rival those held during peacetime.

On tap are nine official balls, a youth concert, a parade, a fireworks display and, of course, Bush’s second swearing-in ceremony and speech at noon on Jan. 20. Planners put the cost at $30 million to $40 million, excluding expenses for security for the first post-Sept. 11 inauguration.

From 2008:

Unemployment is on the rise. The stock market is in the tank. Is this any time for a party?

For the sake of the masses of people expected for President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration, let’s hope so. While Obama must be sensitive to the nation’s time of war and recession, there’s still reason to expect a rollicking time.

“We’re mindful of the fact that people in this country are hurting, that they’re going through hard times,” said Linda Douglass, spokeswoman for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. “On the other hand, we see this not just as a celebration of an election, but as a time for people to come together and celebrate their common values and shared aspirations and goals.”

Supreme Court declines to hear “Obama is an American” case

Details here, but it’s time I said something about this:

People, let it go.

He was born in Hawaii in 1961.  HI was a state in 1961.  Ergo, he is a citizen.  I feel that the right is done a great disservice when its members pull a “He’s not my president!” line of thinking that the unhinged left has displayed for eight years now.

Look, I’ll grant you that the Constitution is crystal clear on the matter.  And if some incontrovertible proof surfaces that Obama is not a citizen, then the legal process will work itself out.  Until then, the Certificate of Live Birth that the state of HI provided is going to have to suffice.

New Orleans shocker: Jefferson loses to a Republican

This must be in Revelation somewhere, right?  Right???  From Yahoo News:

In the 2nd Congressional District, which includes most of New Orleans, Republican attorney Anh “Joseph” Cao won 50 percent of the vote to Jefferson’s 47 percent and will become the first Vietnamese-American in Congress. His only previous political experience was an unsuccessful 2007 bid for a seat in the state legislature.

Here’s a gem of a quote from one of Cold Cash Jefferson’s loyal constituents:

New Orleans voters had long been loyal to Jefferson, re-electing him in 2006 even after news of the bribery scandal broke. Late-night TV comics made him the butt of jokes after federal agents said they found $90,000 in alleged bribe money hidden in his freezer.

People are innocent until proven guilty,” said Faye Leggins, 54, an educator and Democrat who moved back to the city six months ago and still has fresh memories of Hurricane Katrina. She voted for Jefferson on Saturday. “He has enough seniority, so he can do a lot to redevelop this city.”

Wrong, Toots.  That maxim applies to a criminal trial’s conviction (which still remains to be seen), not to an election.  Ted Stevens (R-AK) just found that out the hard way, too.

Maybe there’s hope for the Big Sleazy yet!

Happy “Pearl Harbor” Day

Yes, today is the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor that drew the US into WW II.  The sacrifices made by America’s Greatest Generation back then ultimately paved the way for the eventual election of a Godless socialist empty suit who harkens back to those New Deals days of yore.  What a country, huh?

At any rate, I have a deep admiration for this nation’s history, even if today’s generation of Godless mind-numbed ADHD Gimme Firsters don’t.

Obama: Now that we’ve pretty much won in Iraq, I’m not going to withdraw the troops

Excerpt:

On the campaign trail, Senator Barack Obama offered a pledge that electrified and motivated his liberal base, vowing to “end the war” in Iraq.

But as he moves closer to the White House, President-elect Obama is making clearer than ever that tens of thousands of American troops will be left behind in Iraq, even if he can make good on his campaign promise to pull all combat forces out within 16 months.

“I said that I would remove our combat troops from Iraq in 16 months, with the understanding that it might be necessary — likely to be necessary — to maintain a residual force to provide potential training, logistical support, to protect our civilians in Iraq,” Mr. Obama said this week as he introduced his national security team.

Great point by Ace:

Question: Now that their president is prosecuting an illegal war of choice, will the chickenhawks on the left sign up to fight en masse?

Heh.

British Catholic “leaders” want Muslim prayer rooms…in Catholic schools!

Hat tip to PabloD for passing on this bit of Euro P.C. lunacy.  From the UK:

Muslim prayer rooms should be opened in every Roman Catholic school, church leaders have said.

The Catholic bishops of England and Wales also want facilities in schools for Islamic pre-prayer washing rituals.

The recommendations were made in a document, Catholic Schools, Children of Other Faiths and Community Cohesion.

‘If practicable, a room (or rooms) might be made available for the use of pupils and staff from other faiths for prayer,’ the bishops said.

‘Existing toilet facilities might be adapted to accommodate individual ritual cleansing which is sometimes part of religious lifestyle and worship.

At least one sane person was quoted in this article:

Daphne McLeod, a former Catholic head teacher from south London, said it would be ‘terribly expensive’ for the country’s 2,300 Catholic primary and secondary schools to provide ritual cleansing facilities.

She said: ‘If Muslim parents choose a Catholic school then they accept that it is going to be a Catholic school and there will not be facilities for ritual cleansing and prayer rooms.

‘They do their ritual cleansing before they go to a mosque, but they are not going to a mosque.

‘I don’t think the bishops should go looking for problems. Where will it stop?’

How’s about a chortle at this poor schlub’s naivete?

But Majid Khatme, a Muslim who sent his children to a London Catholic school, said he was delighted by the gesture.

‘It is very kind of the bishops if they give this facility for Muslims to pray,’ he said.

‘I would love to send a letter of thanks to the bishops, really. If they do this all Muslims in Britain will be thankful to the Catholic Church to have facilities to pray. It is very, very encouraging.’

Oh, I see.  Allow Muslims to pray in Catholic schools and the jihadist weirdbeards will suddenly stop self-detonating and screaming “Death to Infidels!” in light of their newfound respect for British dhimmis!  Yeah, good luck with that.

It seems like only yesterday that the UK was a respectable, awe-inspiring nation.  Now, it is a pathetic caricature.

MSM: Obama’s labor secretary candidate “perfect” because of P.C. traits?

Now I see what passes for supreme qualification in Hopenchange’s administration.  From former comPost writer (now WSJ writer) Jonathan Weisman:

For the rainbow cabinet of the nation’s first African American president, Mary Beth Maxwell is the perfect labor secretary you’ve probably never heard of: a gay woman, community organizer and labor leader with an adopted African American son. And this founding executive director of American Rights at Work is about to get the full-court press.

Just to make sure I’m understanding this correctly:

The “perfect” qualifications for Secretary of Labor aren’t actually labor-related traits.  No, it is far more vital for SecLab to be a single white “carpet cleaner” who adopted a child of a politically correct racial background.  Labor laws?  Contract laws?  Minimum wage laws?  Pffft…irrelevant.  The fact that she can bump donuts should quell all concerns as to her fitness for this office.

Nope…no liberal media bias!

“The Gift of Life”

Posted at Judging Truth, but reposted here at the request of Concerned Citizen:

As we approach the Christmas season, our thoughts turn to giving. Traditionally we look for meaningful presents to give our loved ones that help us celebrate the gift of life that Christ gave us by his suffering and death. I am posting this request to ask that you give the gift of life itself to a complete stranger this Christmas.

His name is Tyler Seedig and he is a young Marine who was bound for his first duty station in just three weeks. He was home with his family this Thanksgiving weekend and went deer hunting with his older brother on Sunday. On the way back home they were involved in a car accident that claimed the life of the older brother and left Tyler severely burned. He was transported to the Parkland Burn Unit where he remains in a critical care unit with severe burns over 65% of his body. He will not be reporting to his unit in Afghanistan, nor will he be home for Christmas, New Years or possibly even Easter. Tyler will most likely spend the next six months in Parkland Hospital trying to survive the initial trauma, fight off the coming infections and allow his body to slowly rebuild.

Tyler needs blood. Plasma in particular, so the type is unimportant. I am asking any capable person who can to give the most precious gift possible this year and donate a pint of blood to Carter Blood Center in the name of Tyler Seedig, Parkland Burn Unit, Dallas, TX. It costs us nothing except time and minor discomfort to give, but it can save the life of Tyler or someone else in need.

Through out this season we always talk of helping those in need, of giving to those less fortunate and of remembering those who serve. Here is the perfect chance to do all of those things with a simple pint of blood. Help this young Marine who was embarking on a journey of service and self-sacrifice in order to defend your freedoms and serve this nation where ever the call might have taken him. Think of what a precious chance it is to be able to give life to another.

Please keep this family in your prayers as well. They have lost a son and must plan a funeral during a season which should bring joy to us all, while they stand by the bedside of another son who clings to life by a thread. Remember them this season as you celebrate the love of your own families and cherish those around you for you never know when the call home may come.

Franken’s plan to have Reid install him now toast?

If you’ve been following the MN Senate race, you know that Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) was certified the winner of the election over the batshiite crazy moonbat Al Franken by a couple of hundred votes.  The recount is about 92% done, and Coleman’s lead has been steady, now hovering around 300 or so.  That’s including an “oops, we missed a bag of heretofore undiscovered ballots the first time, so let’s count it now!” type of discovery that resulted in the Dems stealing the Washington state governor’s race in 2004.

In short, it looks as though Franken is going to lose the recount.

Will that make him concede the race?  Heck no!  He’s going to sue to get counted 12,000 absentee ballots that were lawfully rejected, hoping that he can convince a judge to change the election laws after the fact to apply retroactively.  If that doesn’t work, he’s going to ask the Democrat Senate to ignore the will of Minnesotans and to install him, not Coleman, into that Senate seat.  Before yesterday, Harry Reid showed an interest in doing that.  Today?  Not so much.  From ABC News blog:

…The fact that 60 is now off the table might sap enthusiasm and momentum for an extended legal battle for the would-be 59th Democratic seat — where Democrat Al Franken is locked in a recount with Republican Sen. Norm Coleman.

What’s the connection? First — it’s important to consider that recounts are fought in the legal realm as well as the public sphere. The possibility of Minnesota providing the magical Six-Oh to Democrats would have kept intense national attention on the race, and would have virtually guaranteed pressure from liberal activists to keep the fight alive to the end.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has hinted that he’s willing to have the Senate intervene, if Democrats maintain questions about the integrity of the vote.

But would Reid want to take such a politically explosive step if it wouldn’t even bring him 60 votes? Particularly when Republicans will control at least 41 votes in the new Senate — enough to filibuster any such move, and effectively kill it?

Some Republicans, at least, think not.

“Saxby’s re-election ends the 2008 Election for all intents and purposes,” Republican strategist Vin Weber, a former House member from Minnesota, e-mails The Note. “By Friday, with Norm Coleman having won the Minnesota recount, the enthusiasm for overturning the results of an election will deflate rapidly. The Franken Campaign’s hopes that Minnesota would be the ‘60th’ seat are no longer relevant, and I suspect that moderate Democratic voices in the Senate will begin pouring cold water on the Franken-Reid effort to drag this matter onto the floor of the United State’s Senate.” …

Chambliss’ win guarantees that the left will not have a filibuster-proof majority.  There may be a lot of RINOs in the Senate (such as McCain, Voinovich, Specter, Snowe, and Collins), but one thing will always hold party loyalty together, and that is Senate representation.  If the Dems try to install Franken into a seat he didn’t win, the GOP will filibuster any attempt to do so.  Reid may be an idiot, but he’s not that much of an idiot.  He will pick his battles more carefully, since there really is no strategic difference between 58 and 59 liberal Senators.

Canadian university’s student government backtracks on cystic fibrosis fundraiser ban

This is a follow-up to last week’s story about how Carleton University cancelled a cystic fibrosis fundraiser because the victims of C.F. are all white.  Apparently, even Canuckistan is capable of some common sense every once in a blue moon.  Details:

Following vocal protests from students, the Carleton University Students Association voted unanimously Monday night to:

* Support next year’s cystic fibrosis fundraiser, called Shinerama.
* Donate at least $1,000 to the organization.
* Issue a formal apology.

In addition, the student councillor who crafted the controversial motion to drop the fundraiser resigned…

Meanwhile, a group on campus has submitted a petition signed by 1,000 students calling for the student association president, Brittany Smyth, to be impeached over the incident, which they are calling “Shinerama-gate.”

While it never should have come to this, I do have to give the Canucks credit for dealing with this in such a forthright manner.  Hopefully, their impressionable young minds learned a lesson about the toxic nature of political correctness and how it’s nothing more than an obstacle to compassion.

Chambliss wins GA Senate runoff

The filibuster lives on.  Details:

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) has resoundingly defeated Democrat Jim Martin in the Georgia Senate runoff, winning a second term and ending Democratic hopes of gaining a 60-seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Chambliss leads Martin 58 to 42 percent and the AP has called the race for Chambliss.

Here’s what I think did Martin in:

Martin aligned himself closely with Obama, and was hoping that the president-elect would campaign for him in Georgia.

Brilliant, Martin: run in a cherry red state as a flaming liberal who vows to be Obama’s chief dog washer.  Little wonder the dude lost.

The polls leading up to this race had it pretty close…and the polls were wrong.  In case you haven’t figured it out by now, let me spell it out for you: polls suck.

Mel Martinez won’t run again in 2010

Hallelujah!  From The Hill:

Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection in 2010, passing on what looked to be one of the most difficult reelection battles in the country.

Martinez, 62, has been saying for weeks that he intended to run again but would wait until January to make an announcement. Instead, he announced less than a month after the 2008 elections that he is passing on another term.

Democrats are searching for a candidate in the race. Among those being mentioned at this early stage are Reps. Allen Boyd, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ron Klein, Robert Wexler and Kathy Castor, as well as state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink.

Bob Wexler?  Dude’s crazier than an Islamofascist at an S.I. Swimsuit Edition photoshoot!

I was dreading Senor Mel’s re-election, since I knew I wasn’t going to be voting for him.  His unwavering position on amnesty for criminal aliens was enough to turn me away from him.  This ought to give the GOP time to find a suitable candidate (though never underestimate the ability of the GOP to screw something up).  Maybe Gov. Crist, who I’d rather have out of our state and in D.C., would be an option.

Adios, Senor Mel Amnesty!  Don’t let la puerta hit you on the way out!

Queers attack Mormons for CA passing Prop 8

Nothing says “we’re just like everyone else” quite like attacking churches, religious people, and normal Americans.  From FNC:

In the nearly four weeks since Election Day, gay activists and thousands of their supporters have rallied outside Mormon temples around the country, protesting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ support for California’s Proposition 8, the ballot initiative to make same-sex marriage illegal in the Golden State.

There have been calls to boycott the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah; some activists have called for a boycott of the entire state of Utah. Protesters have defaced some church buildings, and in Arapaho County, Colo., the Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible hate crime — the torching of the Book of Mormon on a church’s doorstep.

Even the state of California itself has announced that it is investigating the church’s involvement in Proposition 8, which was approved by a vote of 52 percent to 48 percent and, barring a Supreme Court overturn, will ban gay marriage in the state.

There have been no other reports of backlash against other groups that supported Prop 8, notably African-Americans and other churches and religious denominations that turned out in heavy numbers to push through the ban.

Exit polls after the Nov. 4 vote showed that 70 percent of black voters and more than half of Latino voters voted yes on Prop 8. About two-thirds of self-identified Christians supported the ban, and married voters and parents also showed strong support. The Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Church and evangelical groups in the state also urged for a ban on gay marriage.

So why is the Mormon Church the only target?

It’s because of the money, says Evan Wolfe, executive director of Freedom to Marry, a New York-based group that supports same-sex marriage.

“The Mormon Church hierarchy led the way on this attack on gay families and the California constitution,” Wolfe said. “They provided more than half of the funding. They provided the ground troops and were a major political force in a way that no other group was. …”

Let’s cut to the chase and call it like it is: these drama queens are nothing more than lily-livered cowards.  I mean, this right here says it all:

Lorri Jean, CEO of the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, wrote on the organization’s Web site that she doesn’t blame African-Americans or minority groups for the passage of Prop. 8.

Why not “blame them”?  Why would you not blame the acutal people who voted on the matter?  Why attack a religious organization (Mormons) that has little influence in a gi-normous leftist state like CA?  If you really believe that Mormons drive policy decisions in Californiastan, I’ve got some prime beachfront property in Oklahoma I’d like to sell you.

Virtually all groups of people who voted “No” on Prop 8 would fight back (many with force) against the queer lobby’s heavy-handed tactics.  Mormons won’t.  These sissies know that, so they throw their limp-wristed temper tantrums with impunity.  Sad and pathetic.  May God have mercy on their depraved souls.

MSNBC anchor stunned that Obama’s election didn’t prevent Mumbai terror attacks

Good grief.  They must hand out journalism degrees in Cracker Jack boxes these days.  Feel “Da Change”, my peeps.  From Newsbusters:

File this one under “Deluded Expectations.” During MSNBC’s coverage of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, on Thursday, daytime anchor Alex Witt seemed frustrated that the election of Barack Obama 23 days earlier — and the accompanying “global outpouring of affection, respect, hope” — had not caused an end to terrorist violence.

It almost seems like a parody of liberals’ blind worship of Obama to actually expect that The One’s election would mean terrorists hanging up their bomb belts, peace around the world, lions lying down with lambs, and so forth. For his part, Yang delicately pointed out the more valid concern that “the enemies of the United States, those who don’t care for the United States no matter who’s leading it, would try and test the United States” during the transition from Bush to Obama.

Here’s the full exchange, that took place at about 2:55pm EST on Thursday, after Yang reported on how Obama was being fully briefed by the Bush administration on the terrorist attacks:

ALEX WITT: You know, John, and it’s interesting because there are many who had such an optimstic and hopeful opinion of things, and you certainly can’t expect things to change [snaps fingers] on a dime overnight, but there are many (who would these “many” be?  She doesn’t say. – Ed.) who suggested that with the outgoing Bush administration and the incoming Obama administration there would be something of a lull in terrorism attacks. There had been such a global outpouring of affection, respect, hope, with the new administration coming in, that precisely these kinds of attacks, it was thought — at least hoped — would be dampered down. But in this case it looks like Barack Obama is getting a preview of things to come.

JOHN YANG: He’s — it’s a rude awakening, a very, sort of, sober reminder of what he’s going to be facing in just a few weeks. And there is some concern also, there had been some concern, that during this period, during this, the transition period, between Election Day and Inauguration Day, that the enemies of the United States, those who don’t care for the United States no matter who’s leading it, would try and test the United States, would try to take advantage of this period, and I think that may be one thing that we’re seeing right now.

MSM talking heads: Improving Dow is due to Obama

I had to read this again.  Surely these sycophants weren’t that devoid of reality, were they?  Oh yes…yes, they were.  Here is former Clintonista, and current “objective” ABC News correspondent George Snuffalupagus:

President-elect Obama also said this week in a series of press conferences that he held Monday through Wednesday on the economy and laying out his economic team. You got to give him credit for one thing at least: ever since the leak of Tim Geithner as Treasury Secretary at 3:00 last Friday, the Dow has gone up 17%, the S&P has gone up 19%. So at least there’s been a vote of confidence in the markets for president-elect Obama…And Black Friday, that’s exactly right, sales up three percent surprisingly on Black Friday. So, is this about the Obama economic team?

USA Today chimes in, too:

President-elect Barack Obama hasn’t even moved into the White House yet. But Wall Street is already showering him with praise for injecting confidence into the battered psyche of investors and working quickly to hatch a plan meant to jolt the economy out of its worst funk in decades.

A market that two weeks ago was desperate for political leadership and a clear strategy to repair the economy appears to have found it in Obama, who is fast emerging as a decisive economic commander in chief.

Stocks soared last week after Obama moved aggressively to fill the power vacuum until he’s sworn in and demonstrated his commitment to dig the USA out of its economic rut.

This begs the question:  With the Dow tanking almost 700 points today, can this be attributed to The One?

Of course not, silly wingnuts!  Get the meme straight, will ya?  When Dow is up, it’s the Obamessiah’s magic.  When the Dow is down, it’s Bush’s policies.  Never mind that the Dow was sitting at about 9,600 on the day of His ascension to sitteth at the right hand of God the Father election…and as of this evening, it is sitting at about 8,100.  We’ve got a talking point to peddle here, OK?

Notes Ace:

In related news, the sun will disappear from the skies tonight, smothering the world with darkness and cold. Bush’s fault.

Have no fear, however: At approximately 6:42 ET (check your local weather stations), Obama shall make it rise once more. He says he’ll make it rise in the east, as a special bonus to those Northeastern states that voted for him so solidly.

Heh.

NYT columnist: Iraq’s success will be due to…Obama?

This has to be seen to be believed.  Excerpt:

If Iraq can keep improving — still uncertain — and become a place where Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites can write their own social contract and live together with a modicum of stability, it could one day become a strategic asset for the United States in the post-9/11 effort to promote different politics in the Arab-Muslim world.

If he [Obama] pull this off, and help that decent Iraq take root, Obama and the Democrats could not only end the Iraq war but salvage something positive from it. Nothing would do more to enhance the Democratic Party’s national security credentials than that.

I don’t know how to break it to Thomas Friedman, but “a decent Iraq” has already “taken root”…no thanks to the left!  The same war that the left has fought tirelessly to lose has been won, thanks to an armed forces network and an administration that tuned out the defeatists who openly declared the war lost and the soldiers’ efforts to be for naught.  This war was won in spite of the left, not because of them, and this buttclown wants to give credit to a man who fought this at every turn?

Also, there’s another angle at work here.  Now that the left has full control of D.C., any loss in Iraq would be on their shoulders.  If an American loss could be blamed on the GOP, the Dems were more than willing to stomach that.  But an American loss that might be attributed to the Dems?  Why, that’s just unacceptable!  Disgusting, no?

The MSM has been underreporting the success in Iraq, but why do I get this weird feeling that after Jan. 20, all that’s gonna “change”?
