Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Night and Day, “Specter’s loyalty” edition

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), on March 17:

I am staying a Republican because I think I have an important role, a more important role, to play there. The United States very desperately needs a two-party system. That’s the basis of politics in America. I’m afraid we are becoming a one-party system, with Republicans becoming just a regional party with so little representation of the northeast or in the middle atlantic. I think as a governmental matter, it is very important to have a check and balance. That’s a very important principle in the operation of our government. In the constitution on Separation of powers.

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA), today:

Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right. Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans.

I suppose the fact that Snarlin’ Arlen was trailing Pat Toomey by 21% in the PA GOP primary had nothing to do with his decision, no?  That would certainly explain how just a month after professing his “courageous” commitment to prevent one-party domination in DC or “regional representation” for the party, he just so happens to ”now” finds his philosophy more left than right.

Considering the ease with which he lied, and the lack of shame involved in such a lie, I’d say he should fit in quite nicely with his new party.  Those people certainly have no qualms about fraternizing with liars whose words are worth the paper on which they are printed.

Exactly!! Bye bye Rinoman. And good riddance! I hope Toomey cleans his clock!

  2. Specter finds that real republicans in PA DO NOT WANT HIM. The party didnt leave him, he NEVER WAS with the party or the peolple he supposedly was chosen by to represent THEM, NOT HIMSELF.

  3. Specter should be a good fit for the rest of his term as a Dimmy. He’s not been a conservative for as long as I can remember anyway. Good riddance! One less Rino.

  4. So, weren’t you going to stop “blogging” to spend more time thinking about the Lord, or some business? Glad you’re back to spewing hateful bile towards those who don’t agree with you.

  5. Nice to see you, “Chris”.

If you could kindly point to any “hateful bile”, I would greatly appreciate it. A true Christian doesn’t mind being rebuked by another Christian, when said rebuke is Scripturally based. Although pardon my skepticism, but you don’t bear the fruit of a Christian (to say the least). Therefore, I’m sure you will understand that I have no obligation to heed the advice of a non-Christian such as yourself. But I will give your views the consideration they deserve…which is to say, very little consideration. Come at me as a child of Christ, my friend, and your rebuke will be much more warmly received.

Back to the matter of “hateful bile”, pointing out one’s dishonesty, as I did Specter’s, or referencing the verifiable track record of the left liking their liars, hardly qualifies as “hateful bile”…wouldn’t you agree?

As to why I have returned, that matter was fully covered here (sixth paragraph, since I know your attention span isn’t much to write home about) and here. Sorry you missed it. It does beg the question, though: if you thought I was gone for good, then why did you return? Were you longing for the days of leaving lewd, vile comments here that didn’t contribute to the discussion? Those days are gone, my friend. I would advise you to maybe get a dog or something like that…you know, to give you the attention you so desparately crave? I worry for you, man…I really do.

    God bless you!

  7. Has anyone also noticed that Specter changing sides is soon after the MN courts awarded their senate seat to Franken. Once Franken takes his seat, and with Specter’s as well, the Senate is Filibuster proof? I wonder what promises were made to specter to change sides? Remember Leighey’s conversion in 2001 to give the Dem’s a majority. The Leaky one got a plum chairmanship. Then there’s Lieberman. He kept his caucusing with the Dem’s, even though he supported Bush and McCain, to keep the majority. I suspect Specter is going to rewarded nicely for his switch. What ever it is, it’s a whole lot morre than the door the Pennsylvania Repulicans were going to show him.

  8. A filibuster proof Senate was already in place prior to Specter turning his coat. This really will help Toomey in 2010 though by eliminating a tough primary fight. He and the Specter can slug it out in the general election. With inflation and unemployment hitting double digits next year, Toomey has a good shot.

For more on the real reasons Specter jumped, though, you might hit:
