The federal government’s 100% failure rate
The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 – they’ve had 234 years to get it right; it is broke, and even though heavily subsidized, it can’t compete with private sector FedEx and UPS services.
Social Security was established in 1935 – they’ve had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938 – they’ve had 71 years to get it right; it is broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970 – they’ve had 39 years to get it right; it is broke.
Together Fannie and Freddie have now led the entire world into the worst economic collapse in 80 years.
The War on Poverty was started in 1964 – they’ve had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our hard earned money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor”; it hasn’t worked.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 – they’ve had 44 years to get it right; they are both broke; and now our government dares to mention them as models for all US health care.
AMTRAK was established in 1970 – they’ve had 39 years to get it right; last year they bailed it out as it continues to run at a loss!
This year, a trillion dollars was committed in the massive political payoff called the Stimulus Bill of 2009; it shows NO sign of working; it’s been used to increase the size of governments across America, and raise government salaries while the rest of us suffer from economic hardships. It has yet to create a single new private sector job. Our national debt projections (approaching $10 trillion) have increased 400% in the last six months.
“Cash for Clunkers” was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009 - after 80% of the cars purchased turned out to be produced by foreign companies, and dealers nationwide are buried under bureaucratic paperwork demanded by a government that is not yet paying them what was promised.
Last year, the Senate decided to privatize its own government-run restaurant. After decades of subpar food and annual losses (despite having merely hundreds of customers), the Senate decided that it couldn’t competently operate a restaurant, so it outsourced the restaurant to the private sector.
Since our federal government has a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that each and every “service” shoved down our throats by the imperial federal government turns into disaster, I’ve got a wonderful idea: How about we trust our government (who can’t even run a restaurant) to run or even set policies for America’s health care system, 1/7th of our economy?
I mean, they’re bound to get one of these things right some time, right? Law of averages, or something?
Van Jones fallout
So what have we learned from the doomed appointment of “green jobs czar” and Truther-bigot-commie Van Jones?
We learned that the administration supposedly never vetted him. There was a questionnaire they asked Jones to fill out. Jones didn’t fill it out. So naturally, when someone doesn’t fill out an application, they…get the job? That must be that judgement thingy B.O. was telling us last year that he had in large quantities. At any rate, this denial is likely another B.O. lie.
We learned thatwhile the administration supposedly never vetted Jones, it looks like the FBI was doing it.
We learned that opposition to Jones was not related to the fact that he is a bigot, a self-professed commie, or a Truther nut, but was instead based on the color of Jones’ skin. The black president and his black attorney general were unavailable for comment. Oh, yeah, and your opposition to Jones makes you a “political terrorist”, or something.
We learned that the MSM will not do its job, and then bellyache that you can’t believe stuff you read on the Internet…stuff that turns out to be right. Mnay of the biggest MSM outlets never reported a thing about Jones until he quit, leaving their viewers wondering “Van who? How come I never heard about the guy until he quit?” Nope…no liberal media bias!
We learned that Jones was tossed out in order to appease Glenn Beck. Ignoring the fact that Jones was not tossed out, but instead resigned, how fume-sniffing crazy do you have to be to think that the White House was attempting to appease Glenn freakin’ Beck?
We learned that lefties are mad that Jones was sacrificed (again, ignoring the fact that he resigned on his own accord) for being a Truther, since over a third of leftists are Truthers, too. Hey, the man was just saying what they believe, right?
In other words, we’ve learned something that we already knew: lefties are a bunch of unhinged, pedantic, intellectually dishonest adolescents.
Obama’s speech to schoolkids
I’ve had a chance to look at B.O.’s prepared speech to the kids. If he sticks to the script, then quite frankly, I don’t really see anything objectionable about what he plans on saying.
I know, early on he planned on asking the kids to “help the president” and support him, and that wound up getting yanked from the script…as well it should. But if the message is delivered just as the script says, then overall, I don’t have a problem with it.
Of course, it would have been nice if he didn’t refer to himself exactly three times as often as he refers to education. Otherwise, people might get this crazy idea that the guy is an egocentric mega-narcissist who is all about self-promotion. But baby steps, people. Baby steps.
