Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Quote of the day, “serious news organization” edition

Here’s an excerpt from White House communications chief Anita Dunn’s 9-minute tirade against Fox News:

“Let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is.”

Good point.  I mean, it’s not every news outfit that fact checks SNL skits or broadcasts propagandized school kids singing and dancing to a jam praising ObamaCare, now is it?

Global “warming” fun this weekend

Let’s see…where to begin?

Denver temps in the teens (record lows), coupled with snow and ice, have postponed the Rockies-Phillies baseball playoff game.

While the Goreacle was blathering on about how the Senate will pass cap-and-tax (they won’t), an attendee had the temerity to question errors in “An Inconvenient Truth”.  This attendee had his mike cut off.  Apparently, when the left says “the debate is over”, they really mean it…and they won’t listen to inconvenient truths to the contrary.

The Beeb asks: “What happened to global warming?”  Dude…the Beeb is asking the question!

ABC: Global warming is helping Al Qaida and the Taliban, or something.

As with global “cooling” in the late 1970′s, this junk science fad will similarly die a humiliating death.

Obama is living proof that accomplishments mean nothing, and style is everything

President Training Wheels has accomplished, in the immortal words of Fred Armisen in his B.O. impression on SNL, two big things: Jack and Squat.  Yet when I awoke this morning, I thought I was still half-asleep when I heard the local newsbabe say that B.O. had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline. Obama’s name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president… (Dude was in office for about 11 days before the nomination deadline?  Man, how magical and accomplishment-heavy those 11 days must have been! – Ed.)

The Nobel committee praised Obama’s creation of “a new climate in international politics” and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage. The plaudit appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama’s predecessor for resorting to largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

Rather than recognizing concrete achievement, the 2009 prize appeared intended to support initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee said.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?  In other words, the award is now given out for appearances instead of accomplishments?  Well hell, give one to Pamela Anderson!  Because while she may be a hepatitis-infected inflated-chest PETA bimbo, she sure does look purdy, right?

If, like me, you’ve long suspected that the Nobel committee was nothing more than a leftist anti-American anti-Semitic organization, this right here proves you (and me) right.  And there’s nothing that even the most strident B.O. Kool-Aid drinker can say to debunk that in the slightest.

Heck, even the reliably liberal Times of London noted thusly:

Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.

Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronising in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace…

Mr Obama becomes the third sitting US President to receive the prize. The committee said today that he had “captured the world’s attention”. It is certainly true that his energy and aspirations have dazzled many of his supporters. Sadly, it seems they have so bedazzled the Norwegians that they can no longer separate hopes from achievement. The achievements of all previous winners have been diminished.

You know you’ve jumped the shark when the ToL says that awarding the prize to B.O. actually trumps awarding it to Arafat on the adbsurdity scale!

But wait…there’s more.

Time Magazine (yes, the same Time magazine that has put Uhhhh-bama’s grill on their cover 15 times before he was even inaugurated) has given The One a grade thus far of…an A- ?  Quips Ace:

They did it. A minus, baby! (See, we’re not just over-the-moon schoolgirl crush partisan hacks! We gave him the minus, too! We’re “balanced”!)

Tom Macguire puts it best:

I shudder to think what a B+ would have looked like.

Macguire goes on to tear apart Mark Halperin’s absurd assertion that “a handful of public missteps (particularly on his international trips and on torture issues) and a failure to ameliorate the partisan divide are the only true blemishes so far.”  If, by “only blemishes”, you ignore the skyrocketing unemployment, massive opposition to his socialized medicine plan, quadrupling of the federal deficit, inability to pass a global “warming” bill, failure to follow through on his promises to close Gitmo and get out of Iraq, failure to show leadership in Afghanistan, got humiliated in his failed efforts to land the Olympics, and ticked off our allies with respect to Iran…then yeah, “only blemishes”!

In our country, the left and the MSM (pardon the redundancy) have done their level best to diminish achievement and have instead promoted mediocrity.  They found a champion of mediocrity last year, and put him into the Oval Office.  If your steak smells great but tastes like shoe leather, then enjoy the smell…and try to tell yourself a good-smelling but foul-tasting steak was worth the $25 you dropped on it.

Obama: You know, the Taliban isn’t so bad and might even be partners in Afghanistan

Remember how B.O. talked tough during the campaign about the need to win in Afghanistan?  As with all of his other promises, this one had an expiration date.

What’s worse than lying?  How about not knowing who our enemies are in a shameless attempt to demoralize our troops and lose the war that left swore must be won?  Details:

Bowing to the reality that the Taliban is too ingrained in Afghanistan’s culture to be entirely defeated, the administration is prepared, as it has been for some time, to accept some Taliban role in parts of Afghanistan, the official said. That could mean paving the way for Taliban members willing to renounce violence to participate in a central government — though there has been little receptiveness to this among the Taliban. It might even mean ceding some regions of the country to the Taliban

Obama kept returning to one question for his advisers: Who is our adversary, the official said.

Hint: the adversary is not George Bush!

For those of you who voted for Chairman Zero: Congrats on saddling this country with a vaginal orifice for a commander-in-chief.  I just hate that you had to jeopardize the rest of us normal Americans with you.

CNN broadcasts school kids singing for ObamaCare

While it’s incredibly creepy that school kids are once again being used as props for B.O., the school is a private school, so parents are free to yank their kids out of the school if they have a problem with their little munchkins warbling to The One.

Instead, my problem is with CNN being the forum for this crap.  Yes sir, the same network that swears Fox News is an uber-partisan and non-serious news network is putting school kids on their airwaves singing and dancing to a pro-ObamaCare ditty.  That is, when CNN isn’t busy spending air time fact-checking an SNL spoof that portrays B.O. in a less than flattering light.  However, I imagine that both of CNN’s viewers are totally cool with this.

Nope…no liberal media bias!

ICE to Arpaio: Stop busting illegals; Arpaio to ICE: Kiss my butt

It’s hard to believe that Janet Napolitano used to be governor of AZ, considering that state has such a problem with criminal aliens.  Now that she’s heading ICE, she has no interest in stopping the influx of criminal immigrants.  Fortunately, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has told her to drink a frosty mug of “Kiss My Butt and Make It Shine”.  Details:

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he will continue his controversial “crime suppression operations” despite a Department of Homeland Security decision to strip him of authority to arrest suspected illegal immigrants based solely on their immigration status, the East Valley Tribune reports.“It’s all politics,” says Arpaio, sheriff of Maricopa County.

Arpaio will still have the power to check the immigration status of people booked by his officers, but not the authority to conduct street patrols looking for illegal immigrants.

His “crime suppression operations” are saturation patrols in designated areas where deputies would find illegal immigrants by stopping them for traffic infractions and minor violations, the paper says.

The department of Justice and other federal agencies are investigating the sheriff’s office on accusations of racial profiling during the operations, the paper says.

Arpaio said he will be able to still conduct the crime sweeps under state human smuggling laws and an obscure federal law that allows local police to arrest illegal immigrants.

A spokesman for the Phoenix office of ICE declined to comment until after pending agreements with the country are signed.

The outrage!  I mean, who authorized this local yokel to enforce the laws and stuff?  For those of you on the left, the two prior sentences are examples of sarcasm.

Exit warning: Sheriff Joe, if you’re not careful, Nappy is going to put you and other law enforcement officers on her list of “right wing extremists”!

Obama’s “safe schools czar” is a BIG fan of a known pedophile

Kevin Jennings, Chairman Zero’s “safe schools czar”, says he was inspired by a cretin named Harry Hay.  Hay was deeply involved in the gay pedophile group NAMBLA (North American Man-Boy Love Association).  Full details of Hay and Jennings’ undying admiration of him are here.

When B.O. ran for prez last year, he said we should elect him based on his “judgment”.  He didn’t say “good judgment”, though, and it’s a good thing…his judgment thus far has been utterly atrocious at just about every turn.

Bizarre story of the day, “French gay soccer team” edition

Isn’t “French” and “gay” redundant?  I mean, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that!”    Excerpt:

A French gay soccer team says its members were victims of homophobia when a team of Muslim players refused to play a match against them.

The Paris Foot Gay team says Tuesday it received an e-mail from the Creteil Bebel club canceling a match scheduled for last Sunday.

“Because of the principles of our team, which is a team of devout Muslims, we can’t play against you,” the e-mail said, according to Paris Foot Gay. The e-mail received Saturday said, “Our convictions are much more important than a simple football match.”

Exit question #1: Is there a designated “straight” soccer team?

Exit question #2: Since when was sexual preference a descriptor of a soccer team?

CNN fact checks…SNL spoof?

Saturday Night Live did a skit where actor Fred Armisen, impersonating B.O., said (among other things) that he had accomplished two things since taking over: Jack and Squat.  It was an amusing skit, although Armisen needs to work on his B.O. impression a bit more.

Anywho, it was a spoof.  That’s what they do at SNL.  Yet what does Wolf Blitzer do at CNN?  He puts together a fact-check segment to debunk a friggin’ SNL skit!  Details (video at the site):

CNN: Thy name is shameless.

Stooping to depths only MSNBC would explore on a bad day, CNN’s The Beard attempted to rescue his Dear Leader from SNL’s “not fair” and “not true” segment of Obama over the weekend. Can you believe this? When has this been done before? Did SNL get fact-checked over their “I can see Russia from my backyard” comment by Tina Fey? [BTW: For all of you who failed to receive a fact-checking from CNN, Palin actually said you can see Russia from Alaska].

Grabbing a second helping of shamelessness, CNN labels Tina Fey’s impression of Palin “dead on” at the end of their fact-checking segment. No matter what side of the aisle you stand on, you have to admit this is embarrassing and distressing. [H/T: Lee Habeeb]

No wonder CNN’s 8:00 pm show with Campbell Brown is getting creamed by Fox News Channel’s Red Eye…which comes on at 3:00 a.m.! Maybe CNN should worry about their own programming instead of running interference for a thin-skinned president being lampooned in a comedy skit?

Nope…no liberal media bias!

How to gin up support for ObamaCare, “botched photo op” style

Nothing says “The medical community wants ObamaCare” quite like sockpuppeting the medical community, no?  Details:

President Obama yesterday rolled out the red carpet — and handed out doctors’ white coats as well, just so nobody missed his hard-sell health-care message.

In a heavy-handed attempt at reviving support for health-care reform, the White House orchestrated a massive photo op to buttress its claim that front-line physicians support Obama.

A sea of 150 white-coated doctors, all enthusiastically supportive of the president and representing all 50 states, looked as if they were at a costume party as they posed in the Rose Garden before hearing Obama’s pitch for the Democratic overhaul bills moving through Congress.

The physicians, all invited guests, were told to bring their white lab coats to make sure that TV cameras captured the image.

But some docs apparently forgot, failing to meet the White House dress code by showing up in business suits or dresses.

So the White House rustled up white coats for them and handed them to the suited physicians who had taken seats in the sun-splashed lawn area.

All this to provide a visual counter to complaints from other doctors that pending legislation is bad news for the medical profession.

“Nobody has more credibility with the American people on this issue than you do,” Obama told his guests.

The president was flanked by four white-coated doctors at a podium as he delivered his pep talk.

UPDATED: Chicago tossed as Olympics 2016 venue…in first round of voting

Heh.

Joe Biden just called to say that Barry’s jaunt to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago to host the Olympics is paying off “far better than thought” and is succeeding “beyond my wildest dreams”!

UPDATE (10/02/2009 – 12:41 PM EST): Watch CNN “anchor” Tony Harris stammer in disbelief upon seeing his guy’s efforts fail.  He looks like someone slapped his mama.  Nope…no liberal media bias!

UPDATE (10/02/2009 – 08:01 PM EST): And the spin begins, from the left and the MSM (pardon the redundancy).  Since Obama’s stinging rebuke around lunchtime:

Axelrod blames Bush (wink wink nudge nudge).  Seriously.  Never saw that coming, huh?

Rush: “Who knew the Olympic Committee was a bunch of racists?”.  Heh.

Ed Henry, CNN reporter: You know, “hope and change” maybe (and I can’t stress “may” enough) “just didn’t sell”!  Who knew that people were impervious to Chairman Zero’s charm?

Newsweek’s Katie Connolly: You know, losing the Olympics was a good thing for Obama.  Spin away, Toots.

Follow-up to Biden’s detached “stimulus is working” assertion

Last week, the Vice Plagiarist told us how awesomely awesome the stimulus was working.  Yeah…awesome:

Headline: “Banks With 20% Unpaid Loans at 18-Year High Amid Recovery Doubt”  (Sidebar: Why does the MSM keep touting “signs of recovery” when there are none, and stories like this illustrate that reality?)

Unemployment rate: Up to 9.8% nationwide.

Unemployment rate when you count those who have given up looking for work and those who got laid off and are working part-time just to keep from starving:  17%.

AFP headline:  “Stocks slump as economic optimism dims”  (Not just American stocks, but global ones, too.)

I know, I know: The numbers used in economics must be racist.  Or something.

Quote of the day, “double dose of Polanski” edition

Quote #1 deserves a beverage warning.  Please, put down your drinks before reading this one, lest you fry your monitor.  From the mouth of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, on his good buddy Roman Polanski:

Weinstein said that people generally misunderstand what happened to Polanski at sentencing. He’s not convinced public opinion is running against the filmmaker and dismisses the categorization of Hollywood as amoral. “Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion,” Weinstein said.

Oh. My. Word.  I don’t even think I need to touch that one.  It kinda writes its own material, you know?

Anywho, quote #2 from Allahpundit (of Hot Air fame), via his Twitter post:

Word on the street: Polanski’s next film is so good, Europe’s going to let him bang an eight-year-old. It’s THAT GOOD.

Ouch!

Michael Moore: All that caviar I wolf down (and believe you me, I wolf down a TON of that stuff) was not the fruits of capitalism

When he’s not making dishonest mockumentaries and getting tossed out of Barnhill’s for pulling up a chair to the dessert line, Michael Moore likes to spend his time biting the hand that feeds his ample mouth bashing the system that made him filthy rich.  Excerpt:

Documentary film director Michael Moore, who has become a millionaire thanks to the profits from his movies, told CNSNews.com that “capitalism did nothing” for him.

CNSNews.com spoke with Moore on the red carpet at the Uptown Theatre in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday night before the premiere of his upcoming documentary, “Capitalism: A Love Story.”

CNSNews.com then asked Moore: “Critics would say he’s [Moore] been very successful under a capitalist system. How would you justify making a movie where you paint capitalism as evil?”

Moore said: “Well, capitalism did nothing for me, starting with my first film.”

“You know, I had to pretty much beg, borrow and steal,” he said. “The system is not set up to help somebody from the working class make a movie like this and get the truth out there.”

This is what slays me about leftist jack#sses like him: economic ignorance.  You would think a guy that made a lot of money would have some basic idea about how said pile of money materialized.

He acts like it’s not capitalism that has allowed him to flourish.  Was it socialism that made him rich?  If so, I’d love to hear how that happened.  He thinks that coming from nothing and achieving what he has (even if by similarly dishonest means) is evidence that capitalism doesn’t work?  He thinks that overcoming obstacles and making it big isn’t a part of capitalism?

Clearly, he is no student of American enterprise.  Nearly every successful entrepreneur has had to overcome failures, doubts, criticisms, and economic obstacles to attain success.  Why does this talentless buttclown think he’s any different?
