Murtha dead at 77
Details here.
I’m not going to wax eloquent about the guy, now or anytime in the foreseeable future. However, I would be less than a compassionate human being if I didn’t wish the best for his family and friends. May they turn to God for strength and comfort in this dark season of theirs.

There is a saying that there is “no such thing as an ex-Marine”. Murtha was the exception to the rule.
Crush, you are far more compassionate on the subject of his passing than I could ever be. “Redeploy to Okinawa”…….What an idiot!
“Those Marines committed cold blooded murder”…….What a viscous SOB!
When I heard he had died I was happier than I was when Teddy assumed room temperature. The world is a much better place without the likes of him. His family and friends are on their own.

Lee, make no mistake: I shed no tears for Abscam Jack. I do, however, sympathize with his family and friends. They are grieving right now, and that brings me no joy.
You and I share sentiments on Murtha. I believe that he betrayed his country in general and the Corps in particular. He left no positive legacy in his years of public service, and his Kerryesque contempt for soldiers was despicable.
All that said, I do hope his circle of family and friends gets through this as best as possible.

Crush I agree that most will feel sorry for the Murtha family in their grief, but I don’t think any Marine, past or present, will shed a tear for his passing.
He should have been tried for treason (as well as several Democrats that said the Iraqi war was lost)when he had those 4 Marines put on trial for war crimes that never existed. Those Marines were tried and found innocent of all charges BUT Murtha never apologized! His political agenda was stronger than his ties to the Marine Corps or his country.

Murtha’s legacy truly is that he willfully ignored the meaning of Semper Fidelis. When the chips were on the table, would anyone describe this Marine as “always faithful”?
