Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Crist removes references to his pro-life record from his campaign website

Just when I thought Governor Oompa-Loompa couldn’t be any slimier, he one-ups himself again.  Details:

In the latest development in the race for the open U.S. Senate seat in Florida, Governor Charlie Crist is coming under fire for removing the pro-life section of his campaign website. This comes on the day the legislature sent him a bill that would allow women to see an ultrasound of their baby before an abortion.

Crist has already hinted he will veto the legislation, which also allows Florida to opt out of some of the abortion funding under the new national health care law President Barack Obama signed.

That he would potentially veto a pro-life bill will broad support from voters is another indication of his strategy to leave the Republican Party and run as an independent.

In order to boost his “indy” street cred, he feels he has to switch positions on a matter that, regardless on which side of the debate you fall, virtually no one switches.  You don’t often see someone who runs on a “sanctity of life” platform wake up one day and say “On second thought, abortion’s not so bad.”  If you ever needed proof that he has no principles, here you go.

Study confirms the left is made up of functional economic illiterates

The science is settled:

Who is better informed about the policy choices facing the country—liberals, conservatives or libertarians? According to a Zogby International survey that I write about in the May issue of Econ Journal Watch, the answer is unequivocal: The left flunks Econ 101.

Zogby researcher Zeljka Buturovic and I considered the 4,835 respondents’ (all American adults) answers to eight survey questions about basic economics. We also asked the respondents about their political leanings: progressive/very liberal; liberal; moderate; conservative; very conservative; and libertarian.

Rather than focusing on whether respondents answered a question correctly, we instead looked at whether they answered incorrectly. A response was counted as incorrect only if it was flatly unenlightened.

How did the six ideological groups do overall? Here they are, best to worst, with an average number of incorrect responses from 0 to 8: Very conservative, 1.30; Libertarian, 1.38; Conservative, 1.67; Moderate, 3.67; Liberal, 4.69; Progressive/very liberal, 5.26.

Americans in the first three categories do reasonably well. But the left has trouble squaring economic thinking with their political psychology, morals and aesthetics. …

In other news, university studies show that water is wet.

Seriously, I’ve maintained for years that the left has no reality-based grasp of economics, and the last year-and-a-half has been a glaring illustration of my contention.  This study only confirms what I, and normal America, already knew.

al-Reuters strikes again, doctoring photos in Gaza flotilla story

al-Reuters, the “one man’s ‘terrorist’ is another man’s freedom fighter” organization, has been guilty in the past of using “fauxtography”, aka “fauxtoshopping”, whereby they intentionally doctor a photo to advance their anti-Israeli agenda.

Well, they’ve done it again.  And you really need to go see the photos (original and doctored) to get an appreciation of how corrupt, biased, and unreliable al-Reuters is.  Cropping out terrorists’ knives, watermarking over an Israeli soldier’s blood, etc.

Media bias is one thing, but for the love of Pete, this is pure, unadulterated advocacy journalism of the worst kind!
