Moonbat Congresswoman: Tea Partiers are modern-day KKK members, plus we have two Vietnams living in peace
Quoth Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX):
All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing [applause], uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the Tea Party.
Oooo. Pithy. Cheeky. Slam dunk. There’s just one little problem: the Klan was, according to all historians, “the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party”. Plus, a Klansman was elected for several decades as a beloved and revered Democrat Senator from WV (Robert Byrd was unavailable for comment).
This level of historical ignorance is not surprising, because she wasn’t finished beclowing herself today:
Oh. My. Stars.
First of all, Rip Van Winkle, due to your 35-year nap, you probably missed the part where there is no longer and North and South Vietnam. It’s one country now. Those crazy kids on the street refer to it as “Vietnam”. They live “peacefully” as one country because the North invaded the South and took over it, after a barbaric and bloody invasion and subsequent imposition of communism.
Secondly, as Moe Lane points out, she apparently is confusing North Korea with South Korea. While they are still two countries (though, as with Vietnam, in a north-south geographical arrangement), to describe these countries as living in harmony is appallingly ludicrous. I mean, the NorKoms just sank a South Korean ship, for Pete’s sake! Nothing says “I love you, man” quite like torpedoing their boat, n’est-ce pas?
Lee, Corrine Brown, Hank Johnson, and scores of others are examples of the levels of embarrassing ignorance that can make it to D.C. on the back of racial gerrymandering.

I don’t even know why anyone would even vote for this woman. She is not an intelligent person and is an embarrassment for Congress and the great State of Texas.
Comment by Jim | July 15, 2010
She apparently does not remember the story of the boy who cried wolf.
Her comments are an insult to all of the heros of the civil rights movement who faced true embeded racism in the country and overcame it. Calling anyone who disagrees with you a racist, just because your black and they’re white, as Krouthammer said yesterday, is just, “lazy.”

“examples of the levels of embarrassing ignorance that can make it to D.C. on the back of racial gerrymandering”
You’re exactly right but it’s a most successful technique, unfortunately.
We had a black mayor in Memphis for 18 years because he kept getting re-elected by appealing to his fellow black constituents. He was repeatedly being investigated by the FBI but “they only did it because he was black!”
Comment by tnjack | July 16, 2010
The race card is rather a pathetic attempt to silence debate. It doesn’t work on non-whites like myself because for one I don’t let the left tell me what best represents my interests. I find collectivist hive mentality to be rather stifling.
I wish nitwits like this congresswoman would learn to speak for themselves.
Comment by SojournerLove | July 18, 2010
Or, as in the case of Sheila Jackson-Lee, I wish nitwits like this congresswoman would learn to speak, period.
Comment by crushliberalism | July 18, 2010
Jackson-Lee is one of the brighter members of the CBC. Says a lot about the ignorance of their constituency.
And let’s not forget the black congressman who said we can’t send any more troops to Guam because it might tip over…
Comment by Kanaka Girl | July 19, 2010
Race knows no bounds when it comes to speaking as an idiot.
Look at Biden!
