You MUST be kidding me! DOJ to hire “Ebonics expert”?
And the left wants us to keep them in charge for this?
The Department of Justice is seeking to hire linguists fluent in Ebonics to help monitor, translate, and transcribe the secretly recorded conversations of subjects of narcotics investigations, according to federal records.
A maximum of nine Ebonics experts will work with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Atlanta field division, where the linguists, after obtaining a “DEA Sensitive” security clearance, will help investigators decipher the results of “telephonic monitoring of court ordered nonconsensual intercepts, consensual listening devices, and other media”
The DEA’s need for full-time linguists specializing in Ebonics is detailed in bid documents related to the agency’s mid-May issuance of a request for proposal (RFP) covering the provision of as many as 2100 linguists for the drug agency’s various field offices. Answers to the proposal were due from contractors on July 29.
Sometimes, the absurdity is just so glaring that there isn’t much else to say.
Exit question: Are there really linguists who specialize in Ebonics?

I can see the briefing now:
OK gentlemen, pay attention. “Popo” is slang for police… “chronic” is slang for cannibus …
Oh my.

I wonder where all the cries of racism and profiling are? Seems to me they’re implying that all drug dealers are black. I guess Al and his pimp daddy extortion brigade are too busy going after Glenn Beck for holding a “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial to be bothered with pesky racism by a black administration.

I think I may have to disagree a tad bit here. I record the local news (while watching Fox live) because the local news has so many interviews with fluent ebonics speakers, I may have to go back over what they say three or four times to get some idea of what is being said. It usually has something to do with how great a guy DeAngelo or LaQuan or LeMarquis was before he got shot or how timid his Pitbull was before it ripped the neighbors arm off.

Hey, don’t blame the DEA, my friend. It’s smart of them to want to understand what the interviewee is saying, don’t you think? I think you’re overreacting. I don’t think the DEA’s idea is too far fetched.
Think I could get hired?

This is the height of stupidity an Ebonics Expert.
So speaking like you haven’t had a formal education is a good thing. I think I just threw up in my mouth.
Comment by SojournerLove | August 24, 2010
How about we stop fighting the useless drug war and ignore ebonics.
